Niwa's Recent News
  • 19 April 2015 -- Niwa is under new management!

Niwa is now under new management as we strive to stand up the the standards of fun and entertaining roleplaying we have so far provided here at Niwa. Today makes the start of a campaign to bring in new members as Head Admin Akaiken and Support Admin Sparky work together to improve and uphold the current face of Niwa and keep us all moving forward!

They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home.

Can you survive it?

Maybe he was moving up in the world. Maybe he was moving somewhere off to the side. Honestly, Lance didn't know; all he knew was that he'd caused his share of problems for the NCPD in the past, from brawling, to 'unnecessary force,' to being an 'irresponsible freak that lives on the streets doesn't even know how to use his phone.'

Really, Lance had heard it all, but at least he got stuff done out in the streets, right? Wasn't that what being a police officer was about? It was... about the only thing he'd come out of the academy with amongst the very few things that settled in his mind from that frustratingly difficult time, and now... now they'd decided to transfer the problem that was him, whatever exactly that meant. All he knew was that he was headed to something called C.R.A.S.H., some more active division or something of that sort and a 'better place for someone like him.'

Perhaps worse still, he was under orders to take up a residence. Here. Because apparently, for some probably silly reason, it was improper for an officer of the law to sleep in the streets.

Well, there went his lifestyle.

Muttering rather consistently to himself for the fact that not only was he being pushed to stay inside, where he wasn't exactly comfortable, but wear his police uniform more often, which really wasn't very comfortable for him, he grudgingly made his way to the building he'd been directed to, glancing up curiously to it. It was certainly big, he'd give it that, and apparently the residences were on the top floors. Sure, make him even more uncomfortable for having to take longer to get back out from whatever was to be his residence, why don't they. Muttering a bit more furiously to himself as he entered the building proper, he thoroughly ignored however people were reacting or whatever they were saying around him, beelining straight for the elevator.

The sooner he could get all this over with, the better, he figured.

Clair came walking into the Crash HQ 15 minutes late. Normally, she’d be highly upset and frustrated regarding her tardiness, but the lax environment of Crash had already gotten to her and she simply strolled through the sliding glass doors sipping her Starbucks. She hadn’t even bothered to wear her uniform today. But as she walked up to the front desk, she looked up to see the monitor for Vi and started feeling as if the computer program was judging her. More likely it was her conscience nagging her, but either way she started rationalizing her tardiness out loud. ”I forgot to make breakfast this morning so I went to get something to eat... Besides it’s not like anyone particularly needed me to be on time today right?”

"Officer Weaver you've been assigned to a case with Officer Lance who you were supposed to meet 20 minutes ago."

She thought to herself ”You know that was a rhetorical question, right?” But she avoided saying anything, realizing that Vi would probably take that as a direct question too.

She walked over to her desk and started sorting her things out. ”Okay, so, I probably messed up bad today but maybe he hasn’t arrived yet?” At this point she’d realized that any time she has a thought like that she’s probably wrong. So instead of sitting down she got up to find Lance.

He almost made it to the elevator and at least temporarily, hopefully, away from people. Almost.

Now, from what his ears flicked up to, it seemed he was already being informed to leave again. These people, honestly... first putting him through the trouble of transferring in, looking around the building a bit and getting to his room, now they were suddenly booting him out for the time being. If he didn't at least get a better night's sleep than he'd had in years from the room they'd apparently set him up in up on one of the top floors of the building, there was really going to be hell to pay.

"So you're 'Officer Weaver,' huh? What's the first name? 'Cause I don' care about titles, an' I need somethin' to call ya other'n 'Weaver' tha's gotta be yer last name."

Blunt, fairly uncaring... both things definitely applied to the often intimidating (sometimes even pointedly so) vulpine officer, who'd promptly made his way up to the girl that was apparently being assigned to work with him, for who knew what reason. Well, it wasn't as though he pretended to know how his superiors, or really anyone around, thought; he just went with things however he chose, and considering he was trying to cut down a little on the trouble and hadn't the first clue what this 'case' apparently was since he'd just arrived, albeit somewhat later than he presumably should have, he hadn't much choice but to deal with the girl for now.

Clair finished closing down the computer as she began to head towards the elevators. But before she had a chance Lance had appeared in front of her desk and began speaking with her.

“So you’re ‘Officer Weaver’, huh? What’s the first name?”

“Ah… um Clair. It’s nice to meet you Officer Lance.” She used his official title instead of -sama as combining the two would make for quite the awkward sentence.
Unable to come up with anything else interesting to say, she essentially repeated his question. “So, um… is Lance your first name?” She kind of stuttered. ”Is EVERYONE in the NCPD tall?” she thought to herself. But she quickly got her nerves under control. “I really need to stop prejudging people… he could be nice! There’s no reason to imagine what kind of person he is just based on his height and… um...” For some reason her mind wasn’t letting her acknowledge that the man standing in front of her was covered in fur from head to toe. ”...other things.”

After the introductions they stumbled on the topic of their current assignment. Clair sifted through the neat stack of papers on her otherwise unoccupied desk before finding the note where she’d scribbled down the location. “Um… Sorry about the mess… Here it is. 104th street, near Fuyuyama someone was killed early this morning and we’re tasked with finding and questioning witnesses.” Her heart sank. ...This was someone’s child. She thought. The least we can do is find the killer, if anything so they can’t hurt anyone else.

'Officer' Lance.

That was a new one. Usually people didn't bother giving him that much.

"Yup. Only thing I've got in terms o' names, unless I go into the stuff lotsa people call me anyway," the fox man replied with a dismissive shrug. 'Freak,' 'beast,' 'thing,' it ran the gamut over the years. Perhaps it was fortunate for them that he could easily ignore it, but... none of that from this girl so far. Soon enough, no doubt.

"Hrmph... you'll prob'ly have to do most of that if that's what we've really gotta do. I'm not exactly good with people, an' I don' like wastin' time anyway. Ain't too many people that're prob'ly as good at navigatin' the streets than me, or especially with a better nose, so you do whatever ya want, I'll jus' do things my way. 'S what I've always done," he rather bluntly spoke, before curiously glancing over to this 'Clair.'

Honestly... for someone that had gotten so many reprimands for not working well with others, among a good variety of other things, he didn't by any means need to pause, but... something eventually had to give, he supposed. He'd been at least trying to remind himself, a little, to be a bit more pleasant and stop being such a loner... well, whatever.

Didn't stop him from grumbling slightly to himself before he acted on the thought, granted.

"Well... c'mon, anyway. We're goin' where this stuff happened; should be plenty left to work with if it happened that recently, so we can't exactly waste time, right?" he very slightly grudgingly offered, extending a hand to the female officer. Had to start somewhere, and she didn't seem so bad... so far, at least.

Clair was having trouble reading her new acquaintance's emotions, primarily because she wasn’t used to talking to someone with fur. ”This is going to take a while to get used to… I really need to spend less time around humans.” She sighed.

“Ain’t too many people that’re prob’ly as good at navigatin’ the streets than me”

Clair was delighted at this fact. “That’s actually spectacular!” Then, something clicked. ”Actually, I think I’m starting to figure out why the higher ups put us together. I have NO sense of direction, though they were probably counting the fact that I’ve been here less than a week a bit more wait...” she started staring off into space, but she snapped back quickly. “Anyway, I think we’re going to be a great team!” She smiled.

She was glad Lance seemed so concerned about efficiency. “No, you’re right. We can’t waste time. Every moment we spend is another moment the criminal could get away! But still, it’s exciting right‽” She laughed. “Shall we?” She asked, and they headed off to the scene of the crime.
