| They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home. Can you survive it? There were times, honestly, when he wished he was actually human. Or if, perhaps, he was human in that space of childhood that eluded his memories, that he could return to such a state. More honestly, such times were quite rare. He didn't have any perception of being treated as someone 'normal' to ever miss, nor would he willfully sacrifice the enhanced senses his form gave him if he had a choice. Better to be treated as a freak, someone to fear, someone to avoid, than to be pitifully normal with all it entailed. Ah, and lest he forget the fur. So many people around had such silly, heavy coats and the like on, covered in thick garb practically from head to toe, and yet him... without a single care he only had his usual black vest and pants on, and that was fine. However cold it was, he barely felt it, and better yet, a pair of black boots sufficed to keep his feet from getting steadily soaked and frozen by the light layer of snow upon the ground. All in all, a figure without much of a care was the fox man, except maybe when it came to his job. Damn... he'd forgotten that the 'holiday season' brought out a bunch of the more troublesome situations that naturally, as an officer of the law (something he'd still only a vague inclination of), he had to do something about. Even if... there was... something odd? No, probably just a matter of his nose being dulled by the cold and not catching things quite as efficiently as it should have been. Hrm. Mentally shrugging that off, he promptly changed the direction he'd been idly walking through the park to push pointedly by a pair of men he'd somewhat barely heard chatting, but about nothing pleasant. One stumbled slightly, the other shouted a curse at him, the fox man plainly didn't care. He knew well enough what he was doing, and if these men he'd already made a certain point toward wanted to cross him, well, they could try if they wished. He'd brought down bigger. "Ya might wanna move or come along or somethin' if ya don' wanna deal with some stupidly hormonal guys," he casually warned the girl that his path set him toward once he reached her, glancing only ever so briefly back to said guys. Blunt? Check. Socially awkward? Check. Would it accomplish anything? If history showed, probably not much, but it was the only way he really knew how to handle things, so what else was he expected to do? At least he was polite enough to offer a hand to the girl -- at least, he figured that would be considered polite, despite the situation -- and not let as much coldness linger in his expression as normally did. That was... something, at least, and the best he could really give. |

Nature was always a settling thing for Helena, whether it was strolling around in the middle of the forest in a park, it gave her the same sensation of freedom. One she had fought for thousands of years to obtain. For this, she found herself at Yuki Corp. park. Taking in the soft embrace of the snow on her feet, bare mind you, and the smell of fresh cold air. It was intoxicating, the only thing that ruined it was the presence of humans roaming the grounds. At least there weren't many, for that she was grateful. Her ash brown hair was pulled over her shoulders, a brown cloak wrapped around her and the hood pulled up over her head. Unlike last time she did have clothing under the cloth that covered any view people could have on her. If it weren't for the hair, it would be hard to assume a gender. Helena walked easily through the snow, her toes curling into the pillow white ice. Drunks, in the middle of the day, it didn't surprise her. Humans were disgusting, vial creatures that took the life they had for granted. If she could've caused them to go instinct a millennia ago, she would've done so. Dragons roamed the earth with grace and dignity. Granted they had fought their fare shares of wars, but there was always a good reason for it. Maybe ignorance is bliss, but humans fought for the stupid reasons; let's be honest. When Helena was approached by a man dressed in normal attire, she raised an eyebrow. Her sense of smell was greater then a humans, but it wasn't supernatural. However, it was easy to tell that he was not human; not fully anyways. She lifted her head up, he towered over her but most people did. Helena barely broke over five feet tall, it was a wonder why she hadn't broken her neck by now. Living a thousand years with your head straight up should do some form of damage to ones neck, right? "Your concern is hearting, but unneeded." Her tone was stale, but now it was definite that she was a female. Which caused the drunken fools to begin to pay attention. Helena's glowing green eyes met the mans before she went to move around him. Yet it seemed as though the creeps had a different plan for our dragon. One of them took a side step, getting to the side of her and the man that had tried to warn her. His hand brushed across her cloak and pulled off the hood from her head. "Let's see-*hiccup*-face of yours baby~" When he pulled it off, Helena quickly turned around and grabbed his hand and pushed it away. Dragon's allure in their human forms were that of any vampire, incubus or succubus counterparts. Her complexion perfect, the bridge of her nose and cut of her jaw suited her stature perfectly. The only deformity was the scars around her neck, which weren't very noticeable unless one looked closely. Taking a step away from the man, she shook her head. "Filthy being, watch your hands before I remove them from your person." Helena's eyes shifted off to the side to look at the man that had originally warned her, wondering if he was just there to ploy her into their little games. None of them would enjoy the outcome of this if they pushed.. |

From him, there was little reaction but the slight raise of a brow as the female spoke. 'Unneeded,' hm... yes, he'd already figured that much. Now he was closer, he could definitely tell that her scent wasn't that of a human. Some sort of reptile, he could almost assume, but as to what precisely, he hadn't a clue. All he knew was that she wasn't, by any means, a normal human... perhaps not even a meta. Maybe something a bit closer to him, in a sense, a prime difference being that he couldn't assume the form of a normal human. But the fact was, he himself wasn't remotely a normal human, and well, he was rather brutal when he felt like it. More, perhaps, than an officer of the law should be, and something that got him into trouble from time to time, but he still didn't stop even then. So the man wanted to defy the fox's hints to stay away... fine then. He'd pay for it, simple as that. "Heh... judgin' by what you're sayin', ya ain't human after all. S'pose that makes two of us," Lance somewhat amusedly commented, before he acted. See, the man that had approached wasn't quite alone, so to stop something like this most efficiently, he'd found, one had to really make a point. Incidentally, that rather brutal point involved Lance's ankle hooking right against the offending man's neck, and not gently. With such an impact right to their wind pipe, driving them straight down to the gracefully snow-padded ground beneath, they weren't going to be feeling very good for some time. A mercy at least if it had knocked them unconscious and saved them some suffering. Considering the mild panic starting up with some others in the area, though, the cop definitely knew he was going to be hearing about this. Again. Nothing new there, really. "So then... dunno about the guy's friend over there," he spoke, casting a brief, rather dark, glance toward the man that had stood a little ways back, "but I guess that's that taken care of, an' me prob'ly set to hear more complainin' when I go back to the HQ tonight for 'unnecessary brutality' or some stupid thin' like that..." he grumbled slightly, before shrugging it off. "But anyway... what are ya, exactly? Somethin' that don' like humans, sounds to me like, but I can't tell any more'n that," he inquired curiously, casting his gaze back to the girl that he'd sort of 'saved' and doing whatever he could to ignore the newest incident he'd created. |

Everything had happened so fast, even the comment that the mystery man had made was like wind passing by her. The next thing that Helena saw was the man that had pulled her hood off her head, was now laying down in pain on the floor. Maybe she had been too quick to judge the man that wasn't fully a man. Her emerald eyes shifted back towards the fox, gradually looking over him in good detail this time. She had passed him by as an odd smell, but now that she got a good look at him, she could see the abnormalities of his being. The ears, snout, and the tail that wagged behind him. "Right..." Helena looked away, seeing the guys friends scrambling to run away. They seemed scared for some reason, and they had a right to be. The dragon turned from the man and began to walk away. Pulling the hood back over her head she was ready to leave the man be and be on her merry way. Though, yet again, it seemed that there was something to be said to her. She wasn't much for small talk, even if she had no problems with other races that weren't human. There was just something about spending her time idly talking about herself or others that didn't please her. She did stop though, just because he had hit the nail on the head. Granted she wasn't just going to give up that kind of information to him. Not everyone needed to be aware of what she was. "I am not human, but that should be clearly obvious." Helena said with a smirk. Moving the cloak away from her she moved out her hand from under the cloth and brushed her fingers across her cheek, moving the strands of her hair that had brushed across her face, behind her ear. "Why are you interested, stranger?" The way she spoke had an old feel to it. He could surmise that she was not human, very old but looked quite young and hated humans. That wouldn't give him a definite answer, but there were elements there to help in his guessing. |

Hm... teasing him a little, keeping him from quite getting to what he wanted to figure out, was she? Hah... it had been a while since anyone had done that, had even been able to do that enough that even his senses weren't quite all he needed, hadn't it? This, then... this was definitely fairly interesting. About time that his random wanderings brought him along something that he was actually interested in rather than more of the same idiotic humans, idiotic conflicts, surrounding fear, all of it. A slight smirk painted his features upon the thought, but his attention otherwise remained where it should be: on figuring this woman out. "Why shouldn' I be? I ain't human myself, anyone can tell that, but tha's pretty much it. Findin' someone else that ain't human after this long, well, anyone like me'd be interested, wouldn' they?" he replied. "'Course, I s'pose you can actually look human unlike me, but you're somethin' a bit more... I guess I could say reptilian, right? Could be wrong, but this nose of mine usually ain't," he added. "Guess I ain't entirely bein' too polite, though, come to think of it... name's Lance, one o' the local cops 'round these parts, an' I know o' some places 'round here that're away from all the humans that'll usually shy away from me an' go after someone with your kinda looks if ya don' want anyone overhearin' an' even figurin' out so much as I have already," he offered, glancing momentarily in the direction of the nearest such place he knew of, one of his occasional... residences, of sorts, though there wasn't the slightest sign to show it. After all, he largely just slept wherever he felt like, lacking anything like a home or possessions, so why should he care about making a place any more comfortable? |

Helena rested her hands behind her back, and her head tilted up. A reptile was right up her alley, given the fact she is one. He would be the first, that she had met, to guess what kind of creature she was without her giving any true hints on it. His nose definitely wasn't lying to him, but it was necessarily telling him the entire truth. She gestures for him to follow her, there was no way she was going to stand there and wait for the cops to come. Well, the 'other' cops to come. Helena wasn't a fan of police officers, not because she didn't appreciate what they did, but they always wanted to stick their noses into business that wasn't their own. Granted that was somewhat their job, but she still despised it. "You're correct in your assumption that I am of reptilian decent." Granted, were dragons really placed into a category? Most humans believed that they were a fairytale, a lore or some kind. "Though this is just a form I use to..." Her lips curled into a deviant smile, "Keep from destroying things." There was a taunt in her tone, but it was truthful. Nothing she spoke was a lie. Hopefully Lance, now that she knew his name, would follow her if he was truly interested in what she was. She stepped through the snow with ease and found a trail that was free of the puffy white stuff. Her bare feet showing no loss of color. Turning back towards Lance, she rested her hand against her hip and tilted her head down. "My name is Helena." She introduced herself, "You shouldn't be too concerned about your looks, some would find my true form... terrifying." Helena loved to tease people about what she was. It kept them guessing, and inching ever so closer to her. Then she'd pull away, leaving them in their confusion. It was a priceless event she had done numerous times. However, Lance didn't have anything to worry about, and honestly he was lucky. If there was one thing that Helena loved, it was a fellow familiar. Animals and nature were the love of her existence. "Where is this place you speak of?" She asked, hoping he wasn't going to be taking her to some basement in the middle of the city. She had all but wanted to stay in nature, at least for some time. |

So that was one step forward... sort of. He was apparently on the right track, but he'd still not the first clue where that track actually led, which was a bit of a problem. She was some sort of reptile, and not one he recognized, so what? Did he guess at the scattering of reptiles he'd not actually encountered before and didn't have a scent reference for? Or maybe, did he go for something more... mythical? If it were possible for someone like him to be born, then maybe... Organizing his thoughts for now, he idly slipped his hands into his pockets, falling fairly quickly into step near the woman's side. As she gave a bit more, he glanced back over to her curiously for a moment or two, his brain working rather in overdrive considering its generally lesser than human mental capacity. Either she was talking of a personality shift, or a size shift, maybe both... and if it were the latter, perhaps something more along the lines of the mythical was indeed the answer he sought. "Right over here. Little patch between some trees that most people miss and the rest seem to not care about, that I've spent more than one night at so nobody'd come along an' try anythin' while I'm sleepin'. Already get enough people tryin' that when I take up a rest in some alley wherever," he grumbled slightly, but otherwise left such personal problems to himself as he led the way over to the patch he'd spoken of. Mostly clear of snow for the tree covering above blocking out or diverting most of it, largely out of view and care of the surrounding area; the perfect place for someone like him to not be disturbed by anyone. "As fer findin' yer true form frightenin', well, I'm prob'ly the last sorta person fer that. Call me reckless or whatever ya want, I jus' don' see the point in bein' afraid of anythin', includin' after so many people're obviously afraid o' me," he commented, idly leaning back against one of the nearby trees and returning his eyes curiously to Helena, both slightly narrowing in thought. "What ya said, though... I'll be the first to admit I ain't usually all that great at figurin' stuff out, but... much as most people'd prob'ly never believe it or think of it, tha's prob'ly the trick, huh? Somethin' nobody'd expect that there's plenty o' myths an' stuff for, an' tha's pretty big, judgin' by somethin' ya said earlier... like maybe a dragon," he openly considered, somewhat in the skeptical way of someone that didn't expect what they said to actually be correct. Really, a dragon? Sure, the thought came to mind, but it's not something he'd expect to ever come close to seeing in his lifetime, if they even did exist in the first place. |

Helena would oblige and follow after the fox-looking man. Her eyes shifting to keeping him in view as she strolled behind him. There was no need to fear him, nor anyone for that matter. She was in an open environment, and that was the worst case scenario for anyone wanting to mess with her. If anyone wanted to hurt Helena, or try and kill her, the best time or place to try would be in a closed space. She wasn't one for destroying property, so she would refrain from transforming unless it were life or death. Once they were in this little match of land where they wouldn't be bothered, Helena rested against a tree and listened to him speak. He was going to guess at what she was, and ironically, he would get it right. Though, for someone to be able to smell the reptilian in her and the fact she gets 'bigger', it was an appropriate guess. But let's be honest here, what were the odds of her saying yes to that answer? "Maybe I am, maybe I'm not. I could transform into..." Helena was again toying with him, playing with his questions and answers as if they were a game. "I don't know, a dinosaur. I'd give off the same smell. What about Godzilla." Then she laughed, her pearly whites bearing as she shook her head and let her hair drape over her shoulders once more. She was having just too much fun with this. For a moment she got silent, before clearing her throat and catching his gaze. Her vivid green eyes glowing as she smiled widely. "If I were to tell you I was a dragon, what would you say? Or do..." Most people wouldn't believe her, and if they did, they would run. Because again, let's be honest, Dragon's weren't the most friendly of creatures. Whether people wanted to believe they were gentle creatures of the sky or not. This wasn't train your dragon, Disney wasn't exactly correct in their interpretation. |

Oh, he'd considered adding 'dinosaur' to his answer, certainly. They were as good as mythical, so far as he was concerned, whether or not people supposedly dug up their bones. But God... what now? Raising a confused brow on the point that he hadn't the first clue what that was supposed to be, possibly something he'd heard of once, he had some vague inclination, he otherwise let it slide. If she was in fact... that, then it was beyond anything he could have guessed anyway. No big surprise there, though. "If so, I guess ya could say I'd be interested. Not like I've seen one, an' I'm bettin' most of the people that say they have are full o' shit," he openly, somewhat thoughtfully, considered as he idly cast his gaze upward. 'What,' indeed? Only just now was he giving it any even slight thought, and thinking wasn't exactly a specialty, in all honesty. "More'n that... who knows. Guess it'd be a tough thing fer most people to believe, 'least of all someone like you that plenty o' people'd obviously be attracted to, far's I'm seein'. 'Fair-skinned beauty,' or somethin' like that, I think was the term. I ain't the type to get scared or run either way, an' ya don' seem like a bad person to me, so I guess I wouldn' really mind it. Somethin' happens from it, I'll deal with it however I might have to," he concluded. It wasn't even a matter of preconceptions, it was just a matter of that he'd dealt with plenty of dangerous things and situations in his past... and stubbornly reckless as he was, he didn't care. His expression by no means depicted anything otherwise. "An' since I'm actually thinkin' 'bout it... as I see it, it ain't gonna do ya any good if just everyone that figures it out runs away, right? Good to have at least some folks 'round that know it and don't mind it, as I figure it... an' lookin' like this an' havin' everyone avoidin' me, I ain't exactly a stranger to the thought," he offered, speaking indeed from experience after his life being just outright alone. After all, who wanted to spend time around an intimidating-looking fox man? |

Helena just sat back, listening to him as he responded to her. He made good points, but all of which she had heard prior to this conversation. Then again, was anything truly original for someone that was over a thousand years old. People had claimed to have seen a dragon and instantly pegged as a crazy person. Just like those UFO spotters we see all the time on the news. Even though dragon's did exist in this world, they tended to not want their presence known to anyone. Granted there were some that wouldn't mind, but the elder ones like Helena, they minded. They were like vampires before they came out of the coffin several years ago, trying to stay within the crowds and not be noticed. If Helena came out and said she was a dragon to anyone and everyone, not that she would, he was right. They'd point and scream crazy at her. The only proof is that of witnessing it happen, which seeing as Helena was one of the largest dragon's still around, she tended not to show it off as often as she may like. "Well, Lance I guess it's your lucky day then.." She said with a sly smirk across her lips, he wouldn't be able to see her transform but at least he'd get the confirmation he was so dying for. "You've met a dragon. I tend to not let anyone get that close to guessing, walking away or completely avoiding the topic all together. For one as old as I am, tradition is my life." She spoke with poise and quite honestly, maturity. Lance maybe looking at the oldest dragon alive today, but yet she looked just as young or younger then he did. What is ironic, a dragon normally fed on creatures like Lance. He was no human, which were the best to eat, but he wasn't fully animal either. The smell he gave off was a mixture of both~ a delightful treat for any dragons meal. Yet, Helena loved animals but not as food. She tended to stay to humans for a tasty meal. Now-a-days, she'd just eat whatever was cooked in her human form. Though, that is why she had to ask, "Why wouldn't you be afraid of me? I'm a predator. I may not look like much of a threat in this form, but... in my true form you barely size up to my left molar." Alright maybe it was somewhat of an exaggeration. She was big, but he was pretty tall himself. Maybe two of her molars would be the best description. |
