| They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home. Can you survive it? It was not a typical one size fits all cell. Sephyr did not know what amused her the most, that she was seeing another gaol cell from the inside again ~ or that she knew enough about incarceration to know the cell was anything but average. The walls were solid reinforced concrete and bars were solid enough to have given Gavin pause. The only other place she had seen a cell like this was in Osore. The NCPD were changing the way they played the game when it came to meta humans. She did not see a freezer though. That she waited patiently, leaning against the clean painted walls was all the indication she could give that she was here by her own choice. The Captain had offered to help her as much as he could if she was honest with him, and she had been. Helping her was not the same as erasing the whole event. And her statement... she had confessed to snapping the man’s neck. Murder was not a simple process. When Peter had brought her in she did not even have her purse on her. She did not really have much of anything. Her formfitting black evening dress that stopped at the top of her thighs and a pair of three inch heels. At least he had not taken those from her. It was not like she was sharing a cell with someone for them to get jealous over her designer shoes and attack her for them. The fiery redhead was the only current guest of the C.R.A.S.H. office. The everyday criminals were obviously still processed downtown. She should have been worried, but she wanted to believe Valenco. Whatever his motivation, he could have thrown the proverbial book at her and she could have already been back in Osore. This was bound to happen sooner or later. Trying to maintain a double life was not exactly easy. Most of the Vanguard members did not have day jobs they needed to show up for. They were full time vigilantes... but not Sephyr. She had to be an overachiever even in this. It had been the look on Nemetis’ face that had been the hardest to face... and Asmodeus. He had watched her take a man's life with her own hands. Even if it had all been for show, bringing her down here, signing off on her confession. The security tapes would have incriminated her anyway. The only thought that continued to plague her was that if she had been a police officer, they would have been giving her a medal or a promotion, or both. This was not how she intended on starting the next 25 years of her life. There wasn’t even a bed to sit on. It was like history was repeating itself, only Gavin didn't have a reason to rescue her this time ~ he didn't have a reason to rescue her last time either. |

"We have a guest in cell one." An officer approached Jon's desk as he sat there with his feet kicked up onto the table. Paperwork was done and he was just counting the minutes until he was off. "She's a hottie with a-body." The young male officer laughed and slapped his knee. His words trying to get at least a chuckle out of Jon, but it was a no go. The teal haired officer just looked up at the man and raised an eyebrow. "Oh come on, Nottingham. You're single, just have some fun." The guy didn't know a thing about Jon, the only reason he was being so nice was because he was the officer that had spoken to him when Shae stood him up that night. She obviously had a good reason for it, he didn't need to be babied for it. He was an adult. The guy rubbed the back of his neck, "It's too bad though, she's in for murder. I read the report, it didn't seem like she had much of a choice." He continued to look at Jon, hoping for some kind of reaction; which he consistently got none. "They didn't even put a bed for her to sit on in there." He was definitely enticing him to go to the cells. "Anyways, hope she doesn't get cold in there. No blanket. Nothing to sit o--" "Okay. I get it." Jon stood up quickly and scooted his chair back. "Sheesh." He pulled his gun from his hip and put it into his desk. There was no reason to bring it and he felt it was only insulting that an officer needed to bring their gun into a locked cell. Without saying good bye to the officer, he rounded his desk and headed off towards the holding cells. On his way by, he grabbed one of their fold out beds and a blanket. Anyone that watched him could tell he was in a mood, but he would shake it off before he entered the cells. There was no one but the red head in there, and as he walked in he could tell either the heater was on or something else entirely. It wasn't super hot, but it was definitely warmer then average. The officer sitting at the desk as he walked in handed him the keys and he approached the cell. At least his fellow officer wasn't wrong, she was definitely pretty. It was sad she was in a position like this, but he had little authority to help her, and he hadn't honestly read the report. So he didn't even know if she deserved to be treated as being in the 'wrong place at the wrong time'. Jon took a deep breath and walked over to the bars, she would have seen him coming from a mile away. The officers uniform would give away he wasn't a visitor for her, but he did bring gifts. "Ms. Oraelis, my name is Officer Nottingham. I've brought you something to sit on and cover yourself up if you get cold." He gave her a small smile, "How're you doing in here?" His crimson eyes meeting hers, he waited for a response. The last thing he wanted to do was open the gate to an upset offender. Edited by Star, Dec 22 2013, 02:23 AM.

“de’Oraelis.” Sephyr politely corrected, her warm French accent was still obvious to anyone with an ear for inflections. Of course the whole name was French, so it was impossible to make it sound like anything else. By the time she looked over, a smile began tugging at the corner of her lips. She had been expecting Peter ~ she did not realise at first that he was the Captain of the anti gang and meta human C.R.A.S.H. unit. His promise to help her had not been completely hollow. Though what was she really going to face, justifiable homicide charges? The thug had been wielding a gun, she had been unarmed. Not even the DA would have wanted to touch that case. Everything else pertaining to the golden eyed redhead was speculation at best. “Thank you, Officer Nottingham.” Those liquid gold eyes shifted slightly as she looked him over. There was something predatory about her, almost as though the bars were there only for show. But she was not threatening, not in the least. She took a few purposeful steps towards him, the movement slow and measured. He had stepped up to the bars and the least she could do was acknowledge that. The last Officer had managed to wander past twice pretended to be on some errant task at the far end of the cells. Really, the Captain should have just hung a sign on the door which read do not feed the animals. “Your thoughtfulness is appreciated, but not entirely necessary.” Whenever she could, English was by far her preferred language. A name like Nottingham and a British accent implied he would have been more at ease as well. She stopped a metre shy of the bars, the building was climate controlled and Sephyr did not normally radiate that much additional heat. Her skin would have been warm to touch, her complexion glowing. But right then that was the extent of it. How exactly did she say the blanket was not essential? To betray her self imposed poverty those golden eyes drifted over the fold out bed. If he was looking for any signs of duress, there were none. Nor was she hostile by any stretch of the imagination. If he had seen the preliminary report he would have noted Peter brought her in without restraints. As for his question, that smile only seemed to grow slightly. “I am enjoying your Captain’s hospitality. Of course, incarceration is always more enjoyable with cake and hot chocolate.” She lightly shook her head trying to banish the amusement in her tone, she was not unaware of the gravity of her situation. Not by a long shot. Her unbound hair fell over the front of her left shoulder as she tilted her head to watch him. Was he the nervous type of man? Something about his stature suggested that he was something else entirely. Tall, well built, attractive... his teal hair was only overshadowed but the uniqueness of his eyes. She had never seen crimson eyes before and he was just going to have to accept the fact Sephyr gazed into them with absolutely no regard for whether she made him uncomfortable. If he watched her there would have been a unique array of emotions which played on her features. Wonder, interest... curiosity, all dissolving into something quite feminine. As far as reading people went, she was an open book. “My apologies.” She finally looked away, trying for all the world to fixate her gaze on something else. It was the closest she would ever come to blushing. “You are rather unique to look at.” ... Sephyr was one to talk about uniqueness. |

Caitlyn had heard about a woman that had been brought in as the first lock up in the holding cells of C.R.A.S.H. She couldn't help but go an investigate. She had heard that the woman came in willingly and unrestrained, so maybe she wasn't as cruel as some of the desk guys made it seem. Fully dressed in her uniform that was more figure hugging than she would have preferred, she went to look into it. She looked down at her nametag pinned to her chest. It was in Japanese, and she couldn't read it. She knew it said 'Mercer' but why not give her one she can actually read? Learning to speak the language was hard enough. Regardless, she approached the cell, seeing Jon standing there. "Jon! Hello, how long have you been here?" Great, now she might have to come up with a good excuse for being here since he was here bringing her something to lay on. She looked into the cell, this woman really was beautiful. But who was she? The captain had given special instructions that she not be harassed, so what interest did he have in her. "Have you been being treated well, ma'am? Would you like anything to eat?" C.R.A.S.H. may be a powerful organization, but you couldn't claim their hospitality was poor. |

Jon wasn't going to fret over not pronouncing her name right, it happened all the time. People would be surprised at how many get his last name wrong. He was just going off what he had read on the paper on his way in. Again, it didn't matter, he just gave her a smile and a nod. "Ms. de`Oraelis." The way she looked at him was that of a hunter looking at its prey, but Jon didn't falter. He stood there and looked back into her golden eyes, his own crimson fighting for dominance. "You're welcome, they should've had this in here for you already." He commented moving towards the bars and putting the key into the hole. The bed was tucked under his arm along with the blanket. His eyes breaking from her own to open the gate and open it up. Jon wasn't concerned about her running or trying to brush past him. Even when she took a step towards the door he didn't stammer in his step. Sitting the fold out bed down, he cleared his throat and let out a heavy sigh. "It didn't put me out of my way to bring it to you, ma'am, so it is not a problem." There wasn't much for Jon to say to the girl, honestly. He hadn't read the report, nor did he care to. If she killed someone she would face justice for it. If she had done it out of self-defense, as the officer before him implied, then Peter would be able to let her go without a problem. Until then, she was a criminal like the rest of them. He took a step back and went through the gated door once more and closed it off behind him. Her familiar joke about not having cake and chocolate actually had him chuckling, his pearly whites bearing towards her. How many prisoners often joked about having sweets behind bars was more common then one would believe. "I'll get right on that." Jon caught her starring at him, deeply too. It wasn't just a 'you look handsome' kind of look~ she looked at him like she wanted to eat him right up... Jon was ready to turn around and walk away, when her statement brought his attention back to her. She had came closer to the bars, and in her eyes he could read it all. Sephyr was beautiful, there was no denying that. If he were weak willed, he may have melted right into those golden eyes of hers. His lips curling up into a bigger smile as he brought one hand up to the bars and another running his fingers through his teal hair. "Unique huh? That is a new one for me.." There wasn't much time to dwell on what she had said, as Caitlyn had entered the cell block and approached them. Jon leaned back off the bars and turned towards his fellow officer. "Hey Officer Mercer. I just got here; was just giving Ms. de'Oraelis something to sit on and a blanket." His eyes shifted from Caitlyn to Sephyr for a moment, then returning them back to the officer in front of him. There was obviously something special about this guest, but Jon had no idea what it could be. Did he want to know? ... Maybe, but it's only because he was a curious one. |

“Mercer?” There was no disguising the sudden interest in the way she echoed the name. Well now... Sephyr’s focus turned to the smaller woman, the curious golden gaze she had raked over Jon with turned to Caitlyn. It seemed to be her night for redheads. The name badge on her uniform confirmed the name Nottingham had just spoken. What would be the chances? “I have been treated very well. But I do not require anything.” Despite the comment she just made about cake. It was the first thing she ate after waking in Osore, since then it was something of a joke to her. It may have been because she was coming down from burning out, but the best cake she had ever had was behind bars. Sephyr had not moved while Jon stretched the bed out. It was a shame that it was not actually higher and she could have sat on it. If she had wanted out, bars were not going to stop her, but why would she break what tentative trust she had established with Valenco? Caitlyn though... Sephyr stepped closer to the bars, finally being able to lean against the cold steel. Her evening was about to get a whole lot more interesting. Was there any similarity between the petite officer and the other Mercer in her life? |

Caitlyn stiffened, a common response to surprise for her. "Y-yes. My last name is Mercer. Who are you?" She asked. The woman seemed somehow familiar, but she couldn't place her face to a name or even her voice. She just sort of stood there like a deer in headlights, looking at the woman as she approached her. Finally she looked over at Jon, confused, before looking back at the woman. It finally clicked, this woman was the one from the picture, she had been standing next to Gavin. "You know Gavin, don't you? Where is my brother?!" She asked, moving closer to the bars as well and linking eyes with Sephyr. Caitlyn's eyes certainly weren't as intimidating, holding instead hope and anger. |

“Your brother?” Maybe there was a reason Peter had more ties to the Vanguard. “I never heard Gavin mention he had a younger sister.” Then again, she had never asked. He had introduced her to Star Wars but not to his own family. It stung slightly, but they were what they were, and what they were not. Leaning slightly forward she rested her arms on the cross brace of the bars. Her tone was gentle, had it been her sister on the other side of those bars asking Gavin about her... she would hope he’d give her something. “I know where your brother is. But you will have to forgive me if I do not share that information.” First Peter had dropped Gavin’s name and now his sister. If she was a suspicious person she would have been wondering how this all seemed to conveniently lead back to Gavin. But Caitlyn had seemed so genuine. “Do you have a pen?” |

"No, I will not forgive you." Caitlyn jumped forward, gripping the bars. What had been hope and determination turned to anger in her eyes. The bars where her hands gripped them began to glow red with heat, Caitlyn's power leaking from an emotional escalation. "I haven't seen my brother in years, and I find out he is alive and well and staying in this god forsaken place. So I come here hoping to find him, and my first lead is that ruin of a building and then the trail went cold. Now I finally find someone who knows where he is and you won't fucking tell me?" She released the bars when Sephyr asked if she had a pen. She was teasing her the entire time? Where her hands had gripped the bars there were imprints from her fingers, steam rising off the bars as they could and their color returned to normal. She fished a pen and paper out of her pocket, handing them to Sephyr. "Please." |

Sephyr actually leaned back slightly, admiring the place where Caitlyn’s hands had been. A single crimson eyebrow arching upwards, she expected to see the steel to be crushed. Melted worked just as well. The only time she had ever seen Gavin’s temper was when dealing with criminals... which ironically was her in this situation. Honestly, she was surprised the girl had heard her ask for the pen. It looked like someone had smothered her. “Your Captain knows Gavin...” Her eyes lingered, waiting to see if it was information Caitlyn was aware of. Just because he knew the monster did not mean he knew where to locate the leader of the Vanguard. Accepting the pen and paper she wrote down a phone number. Nothing more, not an address or a post office box number. “This number will reach him... and I will let him know that you are here if I see him again.” It should have been ‘when’ she saw him again. Whatever they may or may not have been, Gavin would always remain one of her closest friends. She held the pen and paper back out to the redhead. As soon as Caitlyn would have accepted it, Sephyr wrapped her own elegant hands around the steel imprint of Officer Mercer’s hand, superheating and then smoothening out the steel again. Destruction of police property was not on her list of criminal offenses just yet. |
