  • 19 April 2015 -- Niwa is under new management!

Niwa is now under new management as we strive to stand up the the standards of fun and entertaining roleplaying we have so far provided here at Niwa. Today makes the start of a campaign to bring in new members as Head Admin Akaiken and Support Admin Sparky work together to improve and uphold the current face of Niwa and keep us all moving forward!

They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home.

Can you survive it?

Shae looked into her pathetic excuse for a wardrobe, everything in there looked like her uniform, or near enough to. Only the charcoal and red fur lined coat she had screamed civilian clothing. It was just dinner ~ somehow that reminder did not make picking something to wear that she was not going to freeze to death in any easier.

A complete lack of wardrobe on top of the awkward shower scene the day before. She could still feel her stomach knot over that. After having seen her completely naked all of her scars and how damn shy she had been... why couldn’t she be like Lyn? Tall, beautiful, confident... instead she was, well.

Just dinner with a friend.

She may actually throw up... she shouldn’t have been this nervous. But he hadn’t said anything to her afterwards. Which meant he had not cancelled their dinner date. “White or blue?” Shae asked holding up the only two tops that didn’t scream librarian to Xander. Realising for the first time the cub had passed out a while ago.

“White it is.” She chuckled at the sleeping lion. The top had open shoulders and sleeves that came all the way down over her hands, more importantly over her scars. The loose legged dress pants swirled around her legs and she tried not to bump the bed as she pulled on her leather boots with two inch high heels. She had learned early on when it came to dress ups that she had no talent for walking in heels. No matter how incredible they made her legs look. Besides, it was boot weather out there. Losing her toes to frostbite was not really an option.

Standing in front of the tiny mirror on her wall she pulled her hair up, only to let it fall down around her shoulders again. This ritual went on for a minute or so before she finally decided to leave it down. Not working... that was the whole theme she was going with. Her long black hair falling down her back was definitely not business Shae. Make up was right up there with high heels in the ‘stuff Shae knew nothing about catagory’ but she managed to apply eyeliner and mascara... she even tried applying it to her eyes as well as her lashes.

Note to self: Don’t do that again.

She was ready... half an hour early. What kind of strange breed of woman was she ~ right when her phone dinged with an incoming message. It was like someone had sucked the excitement out of the room... she groaned pretending not to hear the phone. Which was an excellent idea, until it dinged a second time. She had enough time, god she hoped she had enough time... picking the phone up her eyes feel on the message. She was expecting the worst. For it to be some crisis downtown that she needed to fix.

This was supposed to be her night!

Fate intervened with Brit’s every step in finding Jon’s four digit password, it was only after he smashed the device against the solid brick wall beside him did he look outside the box. And by box he meant the phone, and by phone he meant the now scattered remains of Jon’s cell. The sim card was easy enough to find, that was all he needed. With a triumphant smile he flipped through each and every contact number stored in the sim. It was funny though, a thought which crossed his mind as he scrolled up to the contact listed as ‘Mom’ the frown along his features was instant. Mom, the one person he should have been able to talk to, to express how he felt, to express what he felt... His finger almost hit the keypad to dial the number as he remembered to breathe... It may have been easier if he remembered them, but that was not the hand that was dealt to him. He had no friends, only business associates, and they were few and far between. He was still undecided on Red, and Edward though, time will tell.

Without further thought he continued scrolling through the contacts, his beaming smile highlighted the fact he found Shaeris Forestward’s contact number. With a smug smile he started a brief message. <Could you please grab a car and meet me out the front in a few minutes.>

Seconds felt more like hours, as Brit fidgeted along the buttons of his black shirt... For one he wanted it to be his duster, and secondly he felt constricted around his stomach. It was practically alien to him as his nervousness got the better of him. “This is all going according to plan.” He literally told himself as he stood in front of the mirror. The image of him with a shirt and slacks terrified his fragile sensibilities as he played with his sleeves. His right arm felt naked as the metal clad gauntlet had been removed for the night’s events... The police uniform was identical, even down to his serial number on his badge. This illusion had to be flawless, he even practiced smiling in the mirror as he shifted between the Illusion and reality, and it had to be perfect. It had to be a seamless transition into the police officer’s shoes... “Jon, Jon Nottingham” He practiced the slight accent as his abilities translated his vocal tones.

“Shae, thank you for coming... Up... Over... Around. To meet your demise... Gah” He practiced with every word and the mannerisms that made Jon, well Jon. He had it together to begin with... But what else could he say? “I bit you earlier, then you unloaded your fucking clip into my dog. Now I just want to kill you.” Oh, or his favourite “I can’t wait to run my hands around your neck and see the life drain out of your face!” There, no more butterflies. His smile was instant as his eyes darkened when he looked into the mirror. Yes, tonight was going to be a very eventful night. The once wounded thigh was nothing but a distant memory as he walked to the front door. Turning back as he let the illusion go of his dwelling, he smiled slightly. It took a couple weeks, but he managed to clean up the rubble and plasterboard from his renovations. It was time. He knew that, but he wanted to make the most of the moment. Soon enough he will end this chapter of the Police Girl, and start anew. Leaving the establishment and finding his way to the C.R.A.S.H. building held a sense of irony, but who better to pull off the proverbial knight in shining armour but the complete opposite. ‘Jonathan Nottingham, you are a bad bad man...’ The smile was worthwhile as he looked up to the front entrance of the C.R.A.S.H. building from across the street.

<Could you please grab a car and meet me out the front in a few minutes>

It had come from Jon’s phone. The excitement which had all but evaporated returned double fold. Almost bouncing on the bed she kissed the top of Xander’s sleeping head before bounding from the room. She actually had to double back for the coat. 7.30pm... it was going to be freezing out there. Somewhere between the tenth and ground floor she managed to pull the coat on and button it up. She wasn’t a handbag kind of girl. Instead she just had her phone case and a few essential cards in the other side.

Not a date...

That was going to be her mantra for the whole evening. The moment she walked into the parking lot the freezing night air greeted her. At least there wasn’t any wind. Taking Jon’s car anytime she needed to go somewhere was becoming a bad habit, but tonight she actually had a reason to. Maybe starting the car before she even opened the door was a bit much, but at least she got the heater started. Again with the seat being ALL the way back. She felt like a child getting into the unmarked vehicle.

It only took a heartbeat but she logged the car out of the police system, the last thing she wanted was for either of them to get called in. If it was an emergency, the Captain had her number. Pulling out of the parking lot and to the other side of the street she leaned across the inside of the car and opened the door for Jon. He was still wearing his uniform... really? She was sure she had seen him in jeans once.

Maybe he was as bad as she was in the clothing department.

“Hi.” Shae all but squeaked, her usually bubbly personality in overdrive. ‘Not a date...’ “I mean, hi...” That was fractionally better. She waited for him to sit down before, looking him up and down, his familiar teal hair and red eyes made her chew on her bottom lip. So maybe, just maybe she should have said something after the shower episode. “I thought you would have gotten changed for dinner... but I can work with this.” Alright, so maybe she was swooning a little. “Ready?”

Jon had been waiting all day for eight o'clock to roll around. Even on his morning shift--which he had switched from swing shift to midday so he could have the entire night off--he barely could concentrate on his paperwork. All he could do was watch the time go tick-tick-ticking by. Oh how his heart was swooning over their nondate. He had went out and bought a nice pair of dress pants, a teal button up that was tucked in nicely; her favorite color thanks to Vi giving him the heads up. He had went all out for tonight, making reservations to the restaurant that she picked and even having them set up a special place for them out on the deck. It had cost a pretty penny, but Shae was worth it. There was a chance she'd get upset with him for making it so romantic looking, but it was a chance he was willing to take.

Rounding his door he looked down the hall to see if anyone was there, and there wasn't. Other then the lonesome sounds of Vi's network echoing down the hall, everything seemed quiet. Jon came out of his room, and in his hands were beautiful white and red roses. With a aqua-teal ribbon with "thanks Vi" written on it with a smiley face. When he gave her the flowers he'd explain that her AI was of some use to him for once.

Coming to Shae's door, Jon knocked at exactly eight o'clock. His heart was racing to see what she would be wearing for the night. He had definitely dressed for the occasion, but even if she decided to go out in sweats and a tank top he'd still keep her close and be proud to walk beside her. She didn't need to dress to impress him. Shae impressed Jon every single day, in and out of her officers uniform.

Well, there was no answer the first time. So he knocked again.

And again...

and again...

"Shae?"
He called out, knocking once more before moving back to his room. He had lost his cell phone somewhere along the way and had to order a new one in. Thankfully he was provided with a room phone, and called her cell. The number would have been unknown to Shae, and it wasn't surprising that she didn't answer.

Jon was boggled, but he wasn't going to give up. He went downstairs into the station and walked towards the closest officer. "Hey, have you seen Officer Forestward?" The officer turned towards Jon and gave him a nod of the head.

"She left, you just missed her."

Taking a step back, he shifted his eyes away from the officer who had just noticed the flowers in his hands. "Oh... Sorry man. Some people just get cold feet." The officer lifted his hand and rested it on Jon's shoulder, "Don't hold it against her. She probably had a good reason." Jon turned his head towards the officer and nodded.

He tried not to show his disappointment as he made his way back up to the living level of the CRASH department. However it was written all over his face how disappointed he really, honestly was. After he went into his room, he came back out with a small vase with water in it, and put the flowers down on the floor. A small note stuck onto the knob of her door, that wrote

'It's alright, I understand. Come see me when you get home, please. - Jon'

With a heavy heart, he turned and returned to his home, where he'd be the rest of the night. Maybe he'd find some paperwork to do... God knows he couldn't concentrate on it earlier. Maybe it would be a good distraction for him now..

The unfamiliar car pulled up beside him as he noticed Police Girl at the steering wheel. The instant flash of a smile was very becoming as ‘Jon’ gave little to no hesitation as he slid into the passenger seat. He understood that the police had no lives, and they were always on duty. But there was something about what she was wearing that caused his eyes to unexpectedly take notice of what she wore, it did not suit the usual police attire he had seen her in on more than a few occasions. He had been following the Police Girl meticulously for some time. In fact this was completely different from what he expected, and where are the handcuffs? The stunned expression on his face was natural as he remembered this was Jon she was looking at, and not the man that tried to strangle her the week before. “I... Um... Hi... You look beautiful.” His hesitant tone could have been easily mistaken as shock and awe in truth it was, but what could he say, it just came out... ‘Shit, that was not in the script.’

‘Changed for dinner?’ Why didn’t he get the memo?.. Oh right, wrong person. ‘Dinner... I know a place.’ The warmth of his smile only accentuated his manly charms as he realised he was seriously under dressed.
So they were dating? Who knew?

“I decided tonight had to be spontaneous.” The irony ran from his lips with a warm smile, maybe he was overdoing it. But he could not have planned for any better excuse to be alone with her. His eyes glanced along the console as he looked up to the windscreen, in hopes of finding her cell. ‘Nothing... damn’

“That is if you’re up for a little mystery?”
The sincerity of his words really hit home the moment they left his lips, was he really going along with this? Is he seriously going to buy the Police Girl dinner? Well, it’s not like he enjoys playing with his food. Speaking of which, maybe it could settle the sensation in his stomach. He had goose bumps along his arm but could not define if it was from the thrill of the hunt, or the chill from being outside. A part of him negated the fact he may be nervous, excited, no, he was in complete control... The fact she did not pull out her gun from, somewhere in that coat of hers and start pumping him full of hot lead made him feel... Aroused. Wait what ? He left the question open to her as he waited for a response, he would not push the fact if she had no desire to deviate from their pre made plans. It just meant things would have to unravel allot sooner than expected.

He almost relaxed in the car seat... that was before the tingle of a cell phone called out. He almost jumped as he could feel his hard earned plans go out the window. No, this had to be perfect, this had to be executed with caution. They were too close to the C.R.A.S.H. office for him to make a scene. He moved in one fluid movement as his eyes graced along her slender form and up to her eyes. ‘She smells so good... Back to the plan.’ He gently slipped his fingers through her pocket as he playfully tisked at her. The smile was devious as he slid the phone from her pocket, his hand covered the display as he did not care to see who could have been calling. Chances are he would have been right as he pushed the off button for a long moment. His eyes continued to look into hers as he spoke.

“I would rather, that it was just ‘us’ tonight... No interruptions.”
The slight shake of his head and sincerity in his tone was unmistakable, there was depth to the man beside her for what reason remained unspoken. He needed to savour every moment, he needed to feel she was willing to fight back.

He wanted her to feel like there was something worthwhile to fight for.

Shae was not going to blush, she had promised herself there would be no blushing. After the shower, what did she have to blush about. But there was something so honest in the way he called her beautiful, like the words slipped from his lips before he had the chance to catch them. At least she matched the red fur lining of her coat now. That he was still wearing his uniform did not diminish Jon one bit. She loved the way he filled out his uniform, his wide shoulders, narrow waist... Shae had to clear her throat. Not a date...

Spontaneous and mysterious? What girl would ever have a problem with the guy she was going out to dinner with being a little mysterious? “Um, sure...” Maybe he had been allergic to pasta after all, but she could go with some changes in their plans at the last second. “Where should I be heading then?” It was the natural questions...

That was the moment her phone started ringing. She wasn’t touch touching it so she had no idea who had been calling. The thought it had been the office instantly returned the knot in her stomach. Right before Jon stole her phone. The confused look with drew her dark brows together over her hazel eyes was instantly answered and the butterflies started again. Just ‘us’... Not a date... Not a date. She could tell herself that all night and it was not going to change anything. He was so close to her when he said that.

Yeah, red looked good on her...

She clenched onto the steering wheel, trying to focus on the road and the flow of traffic around her, finally pulled the unmarked car away from the sidewalk and away from the C.R.A.S.H. headquarters. “Just let me know where to go.” She told him, starting the nibble on her bottom lip. “Unless you wanted to drive?!” Her eyes lifted back to Jon’s. She knew his eyes were crimson, even without being able to see them in this lighting. She knew like every detail about him... the water streaming down over every inc...

Driving! Yes, driving...

Why did she think she could do this?! Her knuckles had turned white where she gripped into the wheel. He needed to be dating millionaire supermodels, not giving Shae hope that she ever had a chance with a guy like him.

Her crimson cheeks caused an unexpected smile as he remembered her that day under the tree... It could almost be considered romantic until the realisation of him lifting her up by her neck as he tried desperately to choke the life out of her came back into focus... But hey, close enough.

He lobbed the cell over the back before casually sitting back in the passenger seat. For a moment he considered her question, where to indeed... “The Waterfront... There is a little place along the docks that you truly need to experience. It should be top five on everyone’s bucket list.” There was a casual honesty in his tone that could not be faked, but the humour to his words brought a smile along his features once more.

‘Me, drive?.. Wow she had a death wish... BaHahaha’

“I’m... I’m enjoying the view.”
His smile gave into the humour as his eyes regarded her with the hints of a question on his lips. He could have been biding his time, finding the right moment to end her existence or simply wondered how she came to be in the police force. What would it take to sign yourself up as a police officer, and spend every day fighting for someone else’s morals.

“After all, I do apologise for wearing... This.” His tone shifted as he looked down to his uniform, with subtle hints of concern that he was still wearing a police uniform, and there for deserved a bullet in his head. “Hmmm. Maybe I can dress down.” He said with considerate tones as he unclipped his badge and placed the pistol in his her glove compartment. His eyes glanced across to her as he unbuttoned the top of his collar. He knew better than to look out the window and into the streets of Niwa, he had been prone to road rage at the drop of a hat. And not the nice type of road rage the involved one car bashing into another. Vehicular manslaughter sounded more like it, along with the thrill of running someone down on the street. He was beginning to feel nostalgic, and almost homesick.

Considering they were heading to the Boardwalk anyway he probably did not need to spring the change in destination on her for a little while. If he was talking about bucket lists then it had to be serious. Shae’s smile forced her to release her captured bottom lip, it was hard to smile and gnaw her lip off at the same time ~ but she was a woman and multitasking was supposed to be her thing. Enjoying the view? She had promised him that she would give him a tour.

Or in a round about way he had volunteered her to be his tour guide the first day they met. So that statement would have made complete sense ~ only he was looking at her when he said it. Honestly! Was he trying to make her have an accident? Driving... driving... breathing... driving...

She was waiting at a red light when he started unbuttoning his shirt. Her jaw actually dropped, even her teeth finally relented on her chew bruised bottom lip. Oh god... damn it Jon! Why did he have to be so......

<BEEP>
Green light....... driving.... Shae was about to have a heart attack. If this was his idea of a friendly dinner she did not want to know what he did for a date-date. Wait... yes she did, suddenly she wanted to know what he would have done on a date. He could not have possibly been any more obvious. Maybe he was doing it on purpose, torturing her into wishing tonight had been a date by showing her everything she had missed out on. It was not even like he was really trying... but something felt different. It was almost like he had never thrown her into the friendzone.

Was she reading into every little thing he did? Probably...

The decision not to look at him at all until she pulled into the open car park at the edge of the boardwalk was made that much harder by the knowledge he continued to watch her ever self conscious movement. No sooner had the car stopped she threw open the door and practically hurled herself out of the seat. Her face was so warm, she was so warm... she didn’t think the heater had even been turned up. But the momentary space from Jon gave her a chance to take a few slow deep breaths. 'Pull yourself together!' She was being so awkward she wouldn’t have been surprised if he called the whole evening off right then and there.

Death wish or not it was amusing to watch her squirm in the drivers seat. He was so intent on making sure every aspect of Jon’s persona he almost forgot the little things in life. It was the flustered look on her face and the white knuckle that gripped on the steering wheel. He was beginning to think they had chemistry, er that is Jon and Shae... Of course.

He quietly laughed to himself as Shae burst out from the car, this was one form of torture he had not expected. ‘Just you wait... The evening is still young Police Girl. I have many things in store for you.’
He rose out of the car with overtones of grace and poise. ‘It’s good to be the king.’ He gave into a warm smile as he nudged the door closed with the side of his hip. To say he was enjoying her breakdown would be an understatement. He literally lounged over the side of the car with his head resting on his crossed arms, he could make out both the ice cream parlour and Shae in the same view. It was because of the fairy lights that littered the small venue, that sprawled out from the darkness of the docks.

“Do you trust me, Shae.” His voice dipped slightly into darker tones, as if he was taunting her for a response. He wanted to know the answer, to know the levels of his deception, to know the depths of his mind, well maybe not that far... Who can she really trust in this world? The fact he went to such great lengths in taunting her, spying on her... She had become his favourite hobby. He relented from his comfortable position as he casually stalked walked over to her, he gave no indication that he was in a hurry, he had all the time in the world to devise a suitable end game for the Police Girl.

Across from where she had parked there was a view of nothing but the Waterfront. In the warmer months it was a popular beach. In the middle of winter? There was a reason they had no problem getting a car park.

“Of course I trust you.” The response was automatic. There was no reason she would not have trusted Jon. He had always been there for her from the time they met and even sat by her bedside in the hospital. Shae could have simply flicked the lock on the inside of the door and held the handle up like a normal person. But instead she closed the door reaching out almost as an afterthought, brushing her hand along the chassis to lock the vehicle. Jon did not look like he had any keys on him and she, simply did not need them. Even though it was usually the car he drove she recalled him owning a motorcycle. It would have been the beast of a machine which was parked next to the Captain’s charger.

As he stepped towards her it was almost relief which flooded through her. He wasn’t looking for the exit just yet. Of course, if he asked her to play hide and seek and suggested she hide ~ some cruel children when she was 7 had already taught her that life lesson. It would have been so much easier if he was showing any signs of being nervous. But Jon was completely relaxed and cool about everything. As for Shae, she would have shifted her weight from one foot to the other and back again a dozen times before he reached her.

It was like some slow motion agonising torture... why, why was he doing this to her?! “Let’s go?” Shae half announced, half asked. She managed to turn and take three steps before she about faced and walked back to him, fidgeting slightly. “I have no idea where we are going.”

Smooth...
