Niwa's Recent News
  • 19 April 2015 -- Niwa is under new management!

Niwa is now under new management as we strive to stand up the the standards of fun and entertaining roleplaying we have so far provided here at Niwa. Today makes the start of a campaign to bring in new members as Head Admin Akaiken and Support Admin Sparky work together to improve and uphold the current face of Niwa and keep us all moving forward!

They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home.

Can you survive it?

It had been weeks now, but the city streets had not forgotten the shootout that caused the death of a dozen gang members and two people who were too intrigued with the gunfight to actually run for cover...

A light layer of snow had fallen the night before as she could feel the cold seeping into her feet, it would have been the norm for winter. Over the years it was a reality for the elderly Chinese woman, presumed in her nineties as she slowly navigated through the constant flow of pedestrians. She handled her paper grocery bag in both arms as she paused. Resting the paper bag on the edge of a nearby garbage bin she stole a moment to rest. It was lunchtime, or there about. She wore a light grey shawl that covered most of her head and shoulders, but her features were unmistakable with a pleasant smile and her thin grey hair tied back into a bun. The rest of her attire would be the warmest clothing she could muster for that morning.

She gave little notice to the front entry of the newly refurbished C.R.A.S.H. office, but she stood in front of it. Likely she had not even noticed the change in clientele. Finally her determination had gotten the better of her as her hands clung onto the grocery bag and continued along. She had not taken five steps until it happened. It was all so quick, how was she supposed to move fast enough? The last thing she saw was the police uniform in front of her, and something teal. A vivid teal colour that should have looked unnatural, but it didn’t. Her destroyed paper bag of groceries spilling out onto the sidewalk was the last thing from her mind as she fell to the ground. Her hands naturally reached out to grab something, anything...

Jon hadn't been this happy in, well, he couldn't remember how long. Even if Shae wasn't wanting a romantic date with candles and holding hands, she at least said yes to dinner. He may 'accidently' throw in a candle here or there, and maybe have them set their table up close to the water view so it was unintentionally romantic. He had been taught to treat a woman to the upmost perfection, and that was what he was going to do. Either that or feel the wrath of his mother when she came down to Niwa. There were only one thing that Jon feared, and that was his mother when she was unhappy.

Through his thoughts, he lost concentration of what he was doing. He had walked out front to get some air and jump up and down (not literally) in excitement. So for his ignorant bliss, he didn't see the elderly woman in front of him, and bumped right into her. Thankfully his reaction time was quick and he was able to put his hand out and grab hold of her before she hit the ground. Unfortunately for her bags, they weren't so lucky. She was so small and frail that he barely took a step back when he pulled her back to a standing position. Using his body as a leverage point, he steadied the woman before letting her hand go.

"Oh, ma'am I am so sorry. Are you alright?"
He asked bending over slightly and meeting her eye to eye. He was tall, and to make an elderly woman break her neck to look at him, didn't seem right. His smile was present on his face. Jon definitely didn't want to be hit with a purse for being careless, so he kept on guard for a moment.

Only once a moment passed he would get down onto his knees and begin to pick up the bags that he had dropped on the floor. "I'll get these up for you."

From the woman’s perspective she had ran into a brick wall, while at the last moment a knight in shining armour reached out to save her. To be honest it happened all too quickly as she barely focused her eyes on him before he started picking up the strewn groceries. It was mostly vegetables and a bag of rice.

“Oh... Yes, yes I'm fine.” There was nothing malicious in her surprised tone as she noticed him picking up each item off the ground.

“Such a good man.”
She praised the gentleman’s actions as she gently patted his back, her eyes presumably searching for the vegetables that needed to be double checked before cooking. In truth Jon’s phone was lifted from his person while she lavished him with praise. Vanishing within many, many layers of clothing. No one ever suspected the ninety year old pickpocket.

“I have a granddaughter that might catch your fancy.” Ah yes, that question had to come up sooner or later, but her Mongolian accent rounded off the offer with kindness and sincerity. And she was smiling after all, you could almost count the wrinkles on her face as she watched the young gentleman fetch the last of her groceries. She looked to be enjoying the sight.

Jon continued picking up the stuff off the ground, thankfully it wasn't too much. Seeing as though the bag had ripped she'd need assistance to wherever she was gong wit them. He didn't mind as long as it wasn't too far, he was still working. "That is good, I would have felt worse if you were hurt." He did feel bad for not paying attention and actually hurt her.

Standing up with her groceries in his arms, he smiled at her. "It was my fault after all, so I'm doing the good deed after causing something bad to happen." Jon was a sweet heart, ready to do all good in the world. If it weren't for the fact he was a police officer, he would have probably traveled the world and helped third world countries. Whether that was too much sweetness for one man or not, Jon was in the business to help people. Whether it be locking away bad guys, feeding the starving or helping an older lady pick up her groceries. He was there to save the day.

Modern day super hero.

"Ah well, ma'am, that is quite sweet of you." He said with a bright smile. "But I'm sure she is too young for me, seeing as you can't be much older then your thirties." Jon teased. Obviously it was impossible for her to be just in her thirties, if she was talking about her granddaughter. Jon already had his eyes on someone else, but that the elderly lady didn't need to know that.

"Where can I help you take these groceries ma'am?" He asked.

She paused as Jon joked about her being in her thirties... Her eyes widened slightly. “Oh no... My boy, I am almost ninety seven.” She spoke gently and slowly to the knight in proverbial armour, maybe he had taken a hit to the head while saving other damsels in distress. It was at this moment when she realised his police uniform and looked straight to his badge for confirmation, not that she gave any indication of being able to read it. “You, you are police, you deserve a nice girl. And children to keep her happy, many, many, many children.” The slight surprised tone was easily overshadowed by Jon offering to carry the groceries home.

“Oh, no worry...” She paused before turning to a jumble of stitched material that looked more like a quilt than an actual handbag. But still it was the expression she gave the moment she heard the familiar rustle of a plastic bag.

Feeling slightly victorious she waved the bag around slowly to open it, presumably if it were a quicker movement the bag would have opened at all. She continued for a couple minutes before resorting to pulling the bag up to her good eye and separating the opening. There was no chance as her delicate hands shook beyond control, presumably from the cold, or simply her age. How could Jon just stand there and watch? Then it happened, she brought her hand up to her mouth as she licked her thumb, this act was in no way graceful. After a few moments of rubbing the two edges of the bag with her moistened, and even colder fingers she finally gave in to a triumphant smile. Holding out the plastic bag by the handles her tone shifted slightly as she spoke. “I do not like using these plastic things, their awful and just go to waste... I’ve had this bag for six years.” It sounded more like a protest than a statement, but she relented as her eyes looked back up to Jon.

“You are such a nice boy, I hope you find her, or maybe you already have.” She squinted up at the tall officer with a warm smile.

Jon just smiled, he had been joking but it was obvious this lady hadn't caught on. She was definitely older then thirty, he was paying her a compliment. Or at least attempting to. She was throwing them at him like it was Christmas time, which all he would do was chuckle. Jon wasn't one to boast about his life, if she believed that then more power to her. He hoped one day to have a family, but he wasn't pushing to start one any time soon. Unless he did find that right one. Which, in a way, he may just have.

"Thanks, ma'am." He did offer her his gratitude.

When she pulled the bag out, he once again laughed. She was a smart old hag, that was for sure. "Fantastic." He said reaching in and putting the food into the bad slowly so not to rip the bag out of her hands. His smile not waiving as he pulled away from her and brushed his knees off.

Jon nodded, "Maybe I have, maybe I haven't. But you know, I'll be the lucky one when I do find her. Not the other way around." He instantly thought of Shae. She wasn't necessarily the lucky one for having him interested in her, he was. Even if she didn't want anything romantic right now, he could at least feel there was something between them.

Right?

The officer moved his hands to his pocket, "Here, let me call you a taxi. It's the least I can do..." She began searching for his phone, at which he thought he had put into his back pocket. However after searching, it was nowhere to be found. He had a curious, worried, look on his face. He must've left it in the station. "If you'd like to wait, I'll go call you one. I must've left my phone inside somewhere." He would have never suspected this sweet old hag to have taken it from him. If she let him, he'd do that for her. If not, there was nothing more that he could do for her other then let her go on her way.
