| They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home. Can you survive it? Act I: Gathering the Fight: Enter Chairman Jin Tsui Scarlett had been struggling to figure out the right way to tell the chairman about what her plan was. The fact she should have gone to him first before gathering all the members she already had, would have probably been the best. Yet would his consent or disapproval really have stopped her? If she were honest with herself, that answer was a no. Scarlett had all the best intentions for the Tai Yeung family, if not so she wouldn't be spending millions on trying to get their debt cleared. Hopefully he would see that she wasn't attempting to go behind his back and do something that would defy him. The last thing she needed was to be tagged as a traitor. Even Uncle Rat had no idea of her actions against the Empress, which would stay that way. He would definitely not approve, and would do anything to get her to stop. At that point the only way for her to stop was to kill her. Which she neither wanted to know or test out those waters; not with Uncle Rat. She knew that Jin wanted to go after the Empress after her first attempt on his life, but because of the councils vote, they hadn't. Grasping the mentality that they'd be on the same page, she entered the Prosperous Garden. "I'm here to see the chairman." Scarlett spoke to the man outside of his office. It was the middle of the day, yet it was very muggy outside. Storms clouded over the sky and rained down over the city. Scarlett had dress appropriately, jeggings with a long sleeve shirt that had a hoody on it. She looked a lot more casual then she had the first time they met, and the others following. Jin saw a great deal of Scarlett, with her passing in and out of his office to do business. Come to think of it, she was sure that Jin and her spent more time seeing each other then Wraith and her did. Though, they rarely shared words with one another. They were both busy people, it couldn't be helped. The man at the door gave her a nod, and she thanked him. Jin would hear a knock, then the door opening. "Jin, it's Scarlett." She was hoping to not see the brunette here again. Rounding the door, she stepped into view. There was one new element that he wouldn't have seen before. Her right arm, wrapped in a sling hanging from her neck. There was no cast, at least none he would be able to see. "Do you have a minute to talk?" Edited by Star, Dec 11 2013, 07:53 PM.

In a matter of weeks, Jin's office had turned into a war room. Maps of Niwa's Chinatown as well as other portions of the metropolis plastered the fine redwood walls. Thumbtacks, photos, and plenty of marker and graphite encircled targets and fronts that the Tai Yeung had to combat in. The contested areas were vast, and the only thing Jin could consider a blessing of the conflict was that the Red Dogs and the Lai Gang did not put their hands into the mess just yet. Still, there was still too much to handle. The Tai Yeung were fighting at 65% strength. Several of the uncles and aunties of the council had refused to contribute their resources to the cause--this very apparent Triad war was not an official one. The funds and resources that Jin pulled from Koyuki were running low. For guns and money to be loaned, trust and promises were not exactly the best form of repayment. He needed the power of the other elders of the council. Uncle Rat was greatly opposed--it was good that Scarlett had left that man's ranks otherwise Jin's operations would've been bankrupt. Even Grandfather Tsou had given up on the cause. Things do not go well when the two most senior members rejected your plans. Jin wanted to curse the heavens above for his misfortunes, but he knew very well that this was just another test. Fate had denied Jin the easiest way to victory. Instead, fate had given him other unconventional resources. The likes of Scarlett. The links with his unique staff. CRASH's compliance. Koyuki Tachibana. The Tai Yeung were given tools for victory, and so Jin knew very well the sacrifices and major decisions that needed to be made to ensure it. But at what cost? At what compromise? Then a knock. Then the slight and docile opening of the door. Then the sight of a beauty with red hair and an attitude and demeanor worth admiring. Then a voice which gave Jin's fleeting thoughts and qualms of the conflict with the Xin Hop solidity. Scarlett. "Come in, Scarlett. Close the door." He gestured toward the usual seating area against the wall. "What news do you bring?" |

Scarlett was grateful that he was alone, the information that she was about to share and discuss with him was too sensitive for anyone out of the immediate circle to hear. Her eyes met his as she nodded her head at his gesture. Her hand gripped the door handle and closed it behind her. There was more paperwork then before, and on top of that it looked as if the fight against the Empress had happened already. It made her lips curl at the ends, just something as simple as a messy office gave her a sense of humor. Even if it wasn't the best. "Thank you." Her graceful steps across the room were swift and without hesitation. Scarlett was all business, but Jin would see that she was something different today. There was something else there that he hadn't seen before, what it was it would be hard to tell. The word exhaustion may come to mind; sleep had all become a distant memory. When she did get to sleep she was plagued with the impending fight that was coming or losing the one thing she held dearest to her and by no ones hands but her own. When she wasn't working she was gathering information, spending time taking care of Fiora, or recruiting for the fight. Her alone time had become ill to none, and silence was a thing of the past. Scarlett found herself in the same seat she sat at last time, one leg crossing over the other and her arm that rested in the sling sat in her lap. There was a deep rooted issue, and it was written across her face. Did she fear the chairmen's response to what she was going to tell him? Absolutely. Did she care to change her direction if he disagreed? Absolutely not. She was loyal to the Triad, and she would put down her life and worth for them if asked to. However, there was much more at stake here then just her life. He, above anyone else on the council, would know that. Closing her eyes she took a deep breath, holding the silence just for a moment before releasing a sigh. "No news. I've come to discuss this impending war..." Her eyes opened as she found his gaze, her sapphire eyes burning with intent. She wasn't one to beat around the bush, Jin better then most would know that. Scarlett knew she needed to go about this in a careful and correct way. She didn't want to look like a traitor, going behind Jin's back and deciding to do this without his consent. "I wasn't around when the first attempt on your life, by the Empress, occurred." She started, trying to find the best route to take. "Even if I was, I had no say in the councils decision to hold off on retaliating against the Xin Hop. Jin," Scarlett leaned back against the chair and rested the unslung elbow against the armrest. Her head leaning against the palm of her hand and settling against it. "What I'm about to tell you, cannot leave this room." There was almost something scary about the way she said it, almost as if it wasn't a request but a command that NEEDED to be followed. "Do you trust me enough to promise not to discuss this with anyone other then the two of us?" When they first met, they spoke of trust. He hadn't trusted her right away, which was the way it should've been. Now, after all the money and time she had spent for him and the Triad, she needed his trust. If he didn't, then well... |

[OOC: Oi... I didn't even realize you had posted!] "Impending?" Jin almost wanted to laugh. He had lost far too many hours of sleep and too many paranoid drives around town because of the Empress. She and the Xin Hop were causing more troubles for Jin than he dared to admit. He didn't want to say, but his scars had been pulsing wildly ever since hearing of his old compatriot. She had made a name for herself, alright, and she was knocking at Jin's door ready to dismantle all the work that the two had made for this organization. "Pardon my language, but fuck the council." Jin spat. Each word that came out of Scarlett's mouth with word hinting of the conflict made Jin grow more tired. "A bunch of old men blinded by their own ego and history..." His words were disrespectful and full of contempt, but Jin cared not at this point. It was almost ironic how Scarlett was here already in better standing with Jin than her previous employer. "What is it?" |

Scarlett raised an eyebrow; 'fuck the council'. Was a perfect way to sum up her own hatred for them. Personally she never felt the need for the council, it was just a waste of time. A chairman was all they really needed, maybe someone by his side and a financial advisor. Other then that, there was no need to have a bunch of old farts stroking one another's egos to come up with a plan of action. She was one person and look where it had gotten her. "I'm going after the Empress. Ben Tai, Brit McAlister, Obadiah Akatosh, Arthur Stormwind are the current Triad members that are following me into the fight." She paused and took a deep breath. Licking her lips before continuing "Also a man by the name of Nemetis will be as well... I have someone that is keeping a watch on the Empress, a Moirai member by the name of Fiora Novak, she will let me know when the time is right to strike." Jin didn't know the capabilities that Scarlett had, or most of who she was bringing, however he did know Ben. He had to trust that if Ben would go along with it that the cause was right. There wasn't much that Scarlett cared about, but the Triad --the Tai Yung family -- was one of those things. Even if she had some hidden reason for wanting this Empress gone, it wasn't the only one. "This isn't a mission I am confident about coming out alive from. We are few, but we are strong and capable of taking her down." There was a slight curl at the corner of her lip, she was so confident that it would be scary to some, "She needs to be taken care of... and that time is now." |

Jin closed his eyes as Scarlett spoke. There was a secret art to be appreciated with how succinctly and tactfully she used her words. There was no fluff, no vagaries, no bullshit. She was direct and Jin appreciated her even more for it, even if it meant for some very awkward moments of conversation. "I couldn't agree more, but that Xifeng is an elusive one. What with my current resources and all the other issues popping up, it's hard to take her on. Your former employer and a few of our elders seem to really dislike the idea of fighting her." He made his way to his desk, where he reached over the front to pull open the upper-right drawer. The wood box rolled open and a few clacking noises were heard. It resulted in Jin coming back with a cigarette dangling between his right middle and index finger. He looked at Scarlett and gestured at her. "Want one?" He really should drop his habit before the fine wood of his office soaked in the tobacco scent. That's money right out the window there. "What makes you think you have what it takes? Is it worth risking some of our best and brightest?" Of those Scarlett named, Jin only knew of Ben. He was an asset to the Group and next in line after Pig Ears steps down. He was a VIP, of sorts, and while his mind and his skills were hard to ignore when taking a fight to someone... he was a big risk. "What makes you so keen on her? I took you more for an accountant than a general." There was a strange curiosity that Jin had about Scarlett. A certain level of trust that he had in her... that he could not place in others. However, he felt something far more uneasy. On one hand, he trusted her with his life. On the other... he wouldn't even invite her to his birthday party. Perhaps he felt threatened by the woman. That was probably her strongest suit, though, and why Jin hesitated to even send her out. There was much history between he and Xifeng, but now it seemed that she had dragged others into their net of hatred and revenge. |

Scarlett shook her head, "No, but here." Leaning over the table she put her hand out and snapped her fingers. A flicker of flames appeared at her finger tips as she lit his cigarette. Once it was lit she leaned back in her chair and rested her elbows on the arm rests. Her fingers interlocking with one another as she continued to listen to him talk. She wasn't surprised that he wanted to know more, but was there really a reason for him to know why she was doing this? In her opinion, no. She hadn't shared that piece of information with anyone, and if she had it was very vague. Something like, 'Love, it'll make a woman do a crazy thing'. No names were ever spoken, no full detail of what brought her to despise the Empress so much. She would leave Wraith out of it. "Just because I wear a suit and run a business doesn't mean that I'm not worth more then that, Jin. I don't throw around what I can do because then people will know to fear me." Scarlett's sapphire eyes found his gaze, "I'd rather them underestimate me, and regret it." Dropping her head she looked off into the pile of papers that rested on his desk. She wanted to clean his office so bad... "I apparently took something from her and she came after me just as she came after you. She made it personal when she tried to kill me and someone I care about." Sighing she shifted her gaze back to Jin, those burning eyes that could kill the weak. "I may not be a general, captain, but I sure as hell am a warrior. One that is pissed and ready to separate that crazy bitches head from her body." |

Jin smiled at Scarlett's response. He brought his lit cig to his lips and took in a drag--he had forgotten that she could light things on fire. "No offense, but it's good to know that I'm not the only one on her list. She's a hassle for sure." He made his way to the seat perpendicular to Scarlett's and made himself comfortable. Despite his calm demeanor and joking tone, this was a set of serious news. Jin's attempts against the Xin Hop were fairly successful, but nowhere near ending this war. Times were getting tougher, and he knew very well that their beef with the Xin Hop had many spectators. All of Chinatown was watching them. "Do not take this on your own, Scarlett." Jin admonished. "I have my own issues with the woman as well, but you need to also understand that this is something between our organizations." It was strange for Jin to say these things. Years ago, revenge was always a priority. Be it a man who had tried to kill Jin or a friend who owed him money--he used to be a bloodhound for reprimand. Yet now he was a calmer man, distanced even further from his emotions than he originally thought. He was a Tai Yeung man, after all. Bound by his duty, be it one that was celebrated or not. "I will help." His scars... they itched again. |

Scarlett only needed to hear those words. It made her smile. "Alright... Let the beginning of the end begin." It was time. |
