Niwa's Recent News
  • 19 April 2015 -- Niwa is under new management!

Niwa is now under new management as we strive to stand up the the standards of fun and entertaining roleplaying we have so far provided here at Niwa. Today makes the start of a campaign to bring in new members as Head Admin Akaiken and Support Admin Sparky work together to improve and uphold the current face of Niwa and keep us all moving forward!

They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home.

Can you survive it?

Whoever said getting drunk was easy... lied. That was all there was to it. It was maybe 4am? Honestly, why were there no clocks Sephyr could see. Not a single one in the entire lounge. She needed to remedy that ~ if she remembered in the morning.

The redhead in question was strewn along the bar, a single piece of green glass melting between her fingertips. It would not have taken any great detective powers to realise that the glass had come from the empty Absinth bottle which was rocking back and forth on the bar beside her. As soon as she had gotten it into the semblance of a circle. Semblance because she had almost no perception of what round was right then she blew on it to let the glass cool before dropping it into the growing pile of disks...

Well, it would have been a growing pile if the gargoyle wasn’t running away with them as quickly as she could make them. Rolling over on the bar two miraculous things happened at once... firstly ~ she did not roll off. And secondly she managed to save the green bottle from complete destruction. Sticking her finger into the bottle she melted off another lump of glass and started playing with it.

Of all the things she had ever used her abilities for, this was by far the most fun.

Looking around she tried to find the red bottle from earlier... she couldn’t even remember what it was that she had consumed out of it.

Poisoned, that would have been a more accurate term than drunk. But everyone else did it. But that last bottle had not even taste nice, she could have been drinking methylated spirits for all her taste buds cared.

“Puis-je vous dire un secret ..?” She asked of the sculpture beside her. It was the first time she had ever asked that question. Usually she just told him whatever it is she had to say. Usually she was in full command of her faculties.

As time flown by so fast? Feels like just yesterday, Oscar had started working at the dusk. Since he is a minor, he is restricted to cleaning dishes, but a job is a job, and the crew is a real blast to work with; driven, and a bunch off goofs during the downtime. There is much to do time tends to fly by. Plus, not only did he get a job, but he was also living with the owner. When they first met, Oscar recognize her as a member of the Vanguard, and was just to introduce himself, and it somehow turned into Oscar becoming a poor stranded 16 year old orphan. He enver expected her kindness to be so vast as to invite him to her abode.

It is nice. Oscar gets to relive so many great memories of when he used to be a father; doing chores around a well-kept place, and being around a beautiful lady. He even jokingly started calling her Nee-san. Though, he’d be a liar if he said he wasn’t attracted to her. He treasures every moment they share together.

He emerged from the kitchen, and he spotted her. Oscar had been cleaning the mess that was left in the kitchen by his lonesome after he told everyone to leave it to him. Became a larger chore than he imagined, but it was completed. He walked over to her, standing on the other side of the bar. He noticed the empty bottle. Had she been drinking? And from a second he thought she was waiting for him.

“I think you’ve had enough. Ms. de’Oraelis” Oscar said jokingly as he began wiping the counter with a piece of cloth.

Oscar was wearing a white shirt that had the sleeves unbuttoned and rolled up, with a pair of black slacks and black shoes: he was in work uniform.

With every motion of Sephyr’s fingers between liquid glass, Asmodeus’ attention could not have been swayed for anything. The very substance he has been training with, the complexity of its fragile structure in comparison to his marble skin. It was no wonder Nemetis fuelled the creature’s artistic desire with hundreds of differently coloured bottles. Even the broken ones had become parts of his displays.

Asmodeus had learnt to take instruction more so as a second nature, but it was Sephyr that asked rather than presume he can do something for her. With curiosity in his features he turned from Sephyr to the man sprawled on the lounge.

“She wants to know if she can tell you a secret my friend.” Nemetis’ spoke from an overly casual demeanour, even the hints of Irish accenting in his voice could be made out. It was there by choice, in truth there was no true accent for the shade, he would have to have vocal chords to begin with.

As the creature turned back to Sephyr his features changed into a slight smile as he nodded to her. He felt privileged to be asked, even though it made the others no less of a secret. Not that he could speak, or write... It was then as the boy walked out from the kitchen. Asmodeus nodded slightly toward him in greeting, but that did not detract his attention from the mention of secrets...

Nemetis had the perfect vantage, one being the sprawling Christmas decoration crafted of glass and bottles strewn over the remaining bar. And two, well. It may not be obvious, but he adored Sephyr. Not for who her father was, or what she will inevitably mean to him one day in the future. It was her attitude, and the choices she made. If he were mortal... If he had a heart to give... Their first meeting would have ended up very different.

Resting his head into the back rest of the couch he looked to be anything but civil. With a bottle of scotch in one hand, his eyes looked over the necklace that dangled freely in the other. It was Oscar’s voice that drew his attention from the pendant.

“Nonsense... The night is still young.” Nemetis’ flamboyant tone returned as he quietly chuckled to himself, oh if this scotch only worked... He did not feel exhausted, tired, sleepy...

Laying flat on her back Sephyr grinned at Oscar, looking at him upside down rather than trying to correct her vision. He was completely adorable in his work uniform. Jean, the head chef had decided what the uniforms would look like with Vyrae’s particular kind of persuasion thrown in there. Honestly, her brain was too foggy to even register that she was speaking in French. Oscar was the closest thing she had a real family, her adopted brother was a constant in her life. Unlike her mother and every other blood relative she had moved across continents to avoid, he did not constantly disapprove of her or seem ashamed of her existence. “C’est mon 25ième anniversaire!” That was all the rights and reasons she needed for being highly intoxicated. That and her mother had not even bothered to call her. Asmodeus seemed to be watching her intently almost as though he understood the meaning if not the words.

“Je ne sais pas pourquoi, mais j’ai arrêté de fréquenter Gavin.” That much was not exactly a secret... anyone who was familiar with Sephyr’s comings and goings would have realised it had been the better part of two weeks since she had left Dusk.

Placing her hands and the glass disc she had been making over her stomach she stared up into the lights above the bar. Had they always sparkled like that. It was everything that followed which was the secret she shared with the marble creature ~ oblivious to the fact Nemetis had to translate for her.

“C’est le rêve de toutes les jeunes gamines de trouver leur chevalier en armure d’argent qui va les amener au loin, et moi aussi je voulais ça…” The words sounded beautiful to her own ears, it was like the dream every little girl had. Right up there with being a princess and riding unicorns. If only she realised she was the dragon in that fairytale.

Her voice was filled with emotion, like everything in the elemental’s life she was deeply passionate about the closest she had every come to drunken confessions. There were no half measures anywhere in her life. She felt everything or nothing at all. “Mais je veux une famille, une maison, un époux, des enfants… Tout ce que je n’ai jamais eu. Je veux quelqu’un que je peux aimer sans craindre qu’un jour il ne risque pas de rentrer à la maison.” After being so closed for so long, the words just poured out of her. All her fears and hopes rolled into one.

A single tear rolled from the corner of her eye to vanish into her crimson hair as she turned to look at the statue. From the moment Nemetis had given her the sculpture she had shared everything with him. Long before she knew he was alive. He had never spoken a word, but that had never seemed to matter. “Je veux être le monde à quelqu’un…. Quelqu’un qui sera joyeux avec seulement moi….”

“The Night? Some might call this morning” Oscar replied back playfully to Nemetis. Ah yes, such a wondrous specimen the statue was…. It would take years for young Oscar to sculpt his body to match the true Adonis that Nemetis was… Had he existed back during his first lifetime; he would’ve been the desire of every top politician and earned a seat of honour; hell, they might even worship him as a god beauty, such symmetry in the chest, that strong masculine jaw, a body that represented true virility in its most animalistic form.

Oscar recognized his beauty from the start, and was practically enthralled each time he had to walk past for work. Always taking an extra second to appreciate him as “art”, truly… if Oscar dubbed Sephyr a Goddess of beauty, he’d dub him a God.

He listened as Sephyr spoke, filled with sorrow and regret with a hint of hope.

“Heh, Je comprends Nemetis. Pas besoin de traduire” His French enunciation was abysmal, but he’d be understood. He understood her words and Nemetis did not need to translate for him. How surprising for Oscar, he’s been living with her for 7 months, yet… this is the first time he’s heard her speak French. You couldn’t go entirely by the last name, families move, they emigrate and sometimes they often let the current culture forsake the past ones.

She desired a normal life.
She broke off with Gavin, dreamed of finding a knight in shining armor to whisk her away.
She wants a family, a house, a husband and children.
Everything she never had, she wanted someone to love without worrying whether or not he’ll come home that night.
She wants to be someone’s world, someone that could be happy with only her.

This described several of Oscar’s past lives. A Family to love and cherish, to teach and watch grow and duplicate into their own families. Sephyr was a gorgeous and intelligent woman, who could be with any man she so desired. He understood what she was feeling. She was at her most fragile, but thankfully it was her “little brother” and her loyal statue that are here to pick up the pieces should she shatter. He took her hand with his own.

“Mais Sephyr, Nous on dépends de toi. Pas Vrai Némétis? Le pauvre Adonis ferait parti d’une collection priver dans le sous-sol d’un détestable riche. Perdu dans la noirceur, avec personne à qui parler ou pire… une vie sans but. » He said as he looked up to Nemetis for approval. Saying that they both need her and depend on her. Nemetis probably ending up locked in a rich man’s private gallery, or worse: a life without a goal. He didn`t really know much about Nemetis, or much about their relationship other than she was her mistress.

“Et moi? Un pauvre orphelin perdu dans cette ville. Si je ne crève pas par le froid, Ils m’auraient exporté et je serais un fardeau pour mon demi-frère.» He said with a weary sigh. If not for Sephyr taking him in, he’d either die out there a poor orphan in the cold, or be caught and exported and be nothing but deadweight for his half-brother.

“Sans toi, on serait absolument MI-SÉ-RA-BLE. Tu es notre monde Sephyr. Une Déesses dont l’existence nous a sauvé d’une terrible vie. Nous allons toujours être présent pour toi, pas par obligation, mais par notre propre gré. T’es d’accord Némétis? » He said as he served himself a shot of straight vodka. He detailed how their lives would be miserable without her, and that both of them would stand by her, not due to obligation but by choice. She is the Goddess whose existence spared them a terrible life.

He raised his glass.

“Pour Séphyr!” He said with a happy tone. He looked at her with the brightest of eyes. There was so much youthful sincerity.

Asmodeus did not understand every word, he did not have to. It was the conviction of her feelings and look in her eyes. The moment of his awakening brought on destruction to the Foyer and Sephyr was there to see it, she saw what Asmodeus was capable of with that instant. But she did not banish him, there was no locking away in some dark cellar. He had emotion, a sense of morals... He was alive, and she had the sight to see it within those first few moments of his existence.

The tear that ran down her cheek caught him by surprise, his brow furrowed, this was usually condensation from a glass that had ice in it... The look in her eyes gave way to the fact it was a terrible thing; to leak. Concern marred his features as he lifted his hand to her cheek the gentle rumble of his chest would be comparable to purring at this moment. Chiseled claws would have shifted from her sight as his knuckles lightly brushed up the path of her tear. His smooth marble texture would have been as cool as the last glass bottle she drank, and just as flawless.

His marble expression softened as his eyes looked back up to her eyes the fires that burned within them had always captured his attention. ‘There are flames inside you, where mine only reflect the coldness of stone.’

Oscar’s words held some meaning to Asmodeus, once again it was the meaning behind the words. The praise and high esteem he had spoken reflected in his eyes to the woman who still lay on the table. To say his eyes did not wander would be a misunderstanding, Asmodeus’ lack of physical boundaries had not gotten him into trouble, yet. With something that could only be considered as a deep sigh, Asmodeus’ chest and shoulders slumped slightly. All this talk, and he had nothing to boast beside the rumble of his chest. The slight look in his eyes gave way to uncertainty.

Sephyr’s words fell hard on Nemetis’ chest. Although bound by her father’s will, Nemetis felt differently about the opportunity. It was a chance to get to know Sephyr de ‘Oraelis before she even knew what he would mean to her in the future. And he would have a chance of learning everything about her, before the inevitable.

Nemetis slid off the couch with unearthly grace, was he really drinking? It was essential to keep up with appearances of being human, but not at this moment, and not tonight. His eyes refocused on Oscar who took the liberty of pouring himself a glass, the boy fitted in well here. When he is old enough he would be offered a position on the bar, being taught by Nemetis and the family that has formed within Dusk. His poetic use of the French language brought a smile to Nemetis’ lips. ‘The boy may be a Casanova yet.’

“We all depend on you Sephyr.” His warm tone gave way to that familiar charm he had been well known for. Nemetis’ head dipped slightly to Oscar, reaffirming the young man’s statement as reality. With a snap of his arm, the pendant flipped around his wrist and remained as he lifted the bottle up to his lips once more.

Nemetis’ casual demeanor was flawless as he sat the now empty bottle on the bar, his eyes looked along the glass sculpture for a moment as the light reflected along every surface. He glanced down to the pendant which now knotted into his bracelet. “The truth is... You are not normal Sephyr de’Oraelis...” He could have taken a lie detector at that moment, and passed flawlessly with anything he said. “You are a beacon, a symbol of hope... Something worth protecting.” The irony at his every word caused a slight smile at the corner of his mouth as he looked to the glass disc she still played with on her stomach.

“And...” He paused as he watched Asmodeus’ reaction to the tear that ran down her cheek. “Good luck of getting rid of this one.” With overtones of humor Nemetis knew the bond between Asmodeus and her were already strong, and that was before he leapt down and started throwing people into walls.

Sephyr placed her hand over Asmodeus’ knuckles from where he had brushed away her tears. There was no give in him, nothing to suggest he was human or had ever been. No, her beautiful marble statue would never be that fragile. He wouldn’t be laying on a bar feeling sorry for himself. Both Oscar and Nemetis’ words hit her, in all the time they had both known her she had never cracked, never once shown her emotions ~ at least not this side of them. She did not want to be a beacon or a symbol of hope. That had been Gavin’s role. All she wanted was one person, the right person.

Well, maybe more than one. But the others would come in time. For now, she was surrounded by the next best thing. Oscar, Asmodeus and Nemetis had become her family. If she could not have an alcohol induced emotional moment in front of them, then she couldn’t have it in front of anyone. Thankfully she did not even notice what language they all spoke in, only that she understood it.

In that regard Asmodeus should have been the hardest to read, but the statue was so animated. Looking down at the piece of glass in her hands she quickly remoulded it from the disk she had been making for his collection into a tiny version of the gargoyle himself. If anyone was to ask, Sephyr would have claimed she did not have an artistic bone in her body... but the tiny glass figurine was beautiful and perfect. Even if it was only an inch and a half high. Slipping from the bar was easier said than done. But she managed to without looking like she was in danger of ending up in a heap. Muscle memory more than balance. It was a wonder she could even stand but she stepped up to Asmodeus, opening his hand which had brushed away her tears and placed the glass sculpture into his palm.

“I would never want to get rid of you.” Her words were so soft, but they carried with them all the unguarded emotions she held. She loved the larger than life statue ~ yes, even before he started smashing up her foyer. He listened to her ramble on for months on end about anything and everything. Somewhere along the line he had become her confidant. So sharing her hearts desires for what she wanted the next chapter in her life to hold was not uncharacteristic.

It did bring into stark reality how much her own mother failed in her eyes. Sephyr’s mother was an ambitious, driven woman who did not have time for either of her daughters. Sephyr being the older of the two had next to nothing to do with her half sister. For what it was worth Immy was at least human. She was a sweet girl of 16 who looked like her mother... who was being groomed to be like her mother. Yet she was the only one who did not disapprove of all Sephyr had done and continued to do.

It required tip toes but the fire elemental managed to plant a single kiss on Asmodeus’ cheek before closing his hand gently around the glass figure. They were not so different.

Smiling back to Oscar, her sweet emotion filled smile she nodded towards the sound system remote control on the counter behind the bar. “I think I need music.” If life had taught her one thing, it was that she needed to make the best of what she had. Slipping her shoes off and throwing them under the bar she moved out to the only clear space in the room. Turning around once, because the whole room felt to be spinning and she held out her hand to Nemetis. She had not danced with someone for a long long time... not really danced with them. But that was what she silently requested of him.

« We all love you, Nee-saan » Oscar said brightly after everyone pitched in. He was the newcomer and the “baby” of this new family. He wasn’t even aware of how long these people could remain alive, if anything Oscar could very well reveal his curse to them, and be happy with them for a century or two… but a last, he’d rather keep that a secret. It is amazing what a proposal in jest could bring him and given that he was training diligently these past few months, he gained enough skills back to be able to be of use to Cerberus. Though… As much as a 16 year old powerless soldier could.

“Some music? Well… I got just the thing!” Oscar said as he went under the bar to retrieve the remote.

”Click”

There was nothing like a love song, danced with loved ones in order to forget heartache. He jumped over to the bar, and sat down on a stool as he’d watch Sephyr and Asmodeus dance. No doubt, they will all get a chance to dance with her

The warmth of her actions caused a soft rumble from the depths of Asmodeus’ chest. She had been so kind to him, and that was after he wrecked her foyer... She did not stop confiding in him, which gave him a higher sense of purpose. It was her emotions he wished he could mimic, and to tell her that it was perfectly alright for her to break down in front of him.

There was an instant moment of enthusiasm as he saw her playing with the small disc of glass. Remaining motionless as she placed it gently in his hands, it was him! He barely wanted to move his fingers as she wrapped them over the small glass figurine. If he could breathe he would have been holding his breath. After she passed his eyes trailed after as she spun in the middle of the room, it took only a moment until he begun peaking through his fingers to check on the small figurine. ‘Still intact.’ It was quickly becoming his precious.

Her every motion was sweet and adorable. The simple request for music brought the warmth of his smile along his features with no desire to hide it. He had his fair share of flaws after all.

As Sephyr held out her hand there was no denying the intent in his eyes, she deserved someone to love, someone that was capable of giving her everything she desired... This was not her lineage speaking, it was not due to some sense of protection above all else. This was because he knew her, being given the time to experience who she was before dropping the fact he knew more about herself than he was letting on. The one think he hoped was the fact she would forgive him for keeping such a secret from her. Was ‘he’ that man? He could offer an eternity of protection, as long as she was alright there would be no need for disappearing into the night risking his life. He knew one single flaw in the man he had become. He would never be in the position to father his own children.

It was his unnatural grace that caused his feet to glide over the carpet like he was skimming over ice. The choice in music was sweet and loving, a part of him could not ask for anything better. It was much like combat practice with an opponent, but this was not an ordinary opponent. The warmth of his features returned as their eyes would have met. His hand caressed along her waist as he gently pulled the two of them together. He knew of her dancing experience, and only imagined what she was capable of in the right hands. For that reason his cheek pressed against her own for a short moment. “Just go with it.” The warmth of his tone filled with the desire to express how he felt for the woman before him.

There was something perfect about the music Oscar had chosen, sometimes she wondered about him... he was so mature all the time. Sephyr honestly questioned if she was the adult in their relationship. Not that this moment was a shining example of her pseudo parental skills. As Nemetis captured her waist and pulled her into him she pressed her cheek against his, the words causing a smile to form on her lips that was completely heartfelt.

How long had it been since she had danced with someone else? Nemetis with his veiled agility and grace would have been the perfect dancing partner. He would have been the perfect sparring partner, but she had never seen anything which resembled violence out of the barman. She was missing out on a lot... Normally she would have shied away from someone being so close to her, but dancing ~ at least for her ~ did not fall into her warped sense of personal boundaries. Capturing his hand in her own she moved to step away, allowing his outstretched arm to determine how far she could go before gently spinning back into his embrace.

There was no haste in anything she did, every motion was soft and sensual and timed completely with the music Oscar had chosen. For all the world she looked like a woman who could have been in love. Her nose almost brushing against his, her liquid gold eyes all but melting. What was it about dancing that made her heart and body move as one... it had been her only passion for so long. The only way she had been able to express herself.

Her hand that had not been captured in his, lightly caressed down the side of Nemetis’ face, finally coming to rest over his heart. There was not a lot of room to move, but Sephyr had no intention of moving far away from her partner. She was waiting for him to take the lead, in this she could have followed him anywhere. It had been a rough start, but at this rate it would quite possibly be her best birthday ever.
