Niwa's Recent News
  • 19 April 2015 -- Niwa is under new management!

Niwa is now under new management as we strive to stand up the the standards of fun and entertaining roleplaying we have so far provided here at Niwa. Today makes the start of a campaign to bring in new members as Head Admin Akaiken and Support Admin Sparky work together to improve and uphold the current face of Niwa and keep us all moving forward!

They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home.

Can you survive it?

Arthur had received a letter upon reaching his home simply addressed a new family member. Upon opening he read "Newest family member I bid you a training day! Please meet me, Scarlett, at the prosperous garden after 10PM tomorrow night. Let's see what you're made of."

It was a request for a brawl of some kind which was alright for him. Upon coming to this city he hasn't found any dragon life as of yet so a chance to keep his abilities keen a good sparring match was just what he needed. He arrived at the location stated wearing his armor and the weapons he brought with him. This was going to be fun indeed he thought to himself. While traveling to this meeting place he got some odd looks from the people that he passed by. Apparently these people weren't used to seeing people in armor.

He cleared the area of tables so he could practice a little before his match. He swung his blade with such precision and grace a normal onlooker would be surprised. He moved in such a way that it looked like he was dancing. It would probably surprise people because of how big he was and that he was wearing armor but he was a master of his craft. If he was put up against a skilled person in the past even a master wouldn't be able to match his movements.

(OOC: If the place is not empty then I can change the post but I assumed it would be empty by this time.)

It was dark, the night had been clouded over with the clouds that screamed to start pouring down rain at any moment. However it held up, just long enough for the pyromancer to get into the Prosperous Garden at least. Scarlett hadn't heard the rain fall, but the smell of water on the pavement flowed throughout the halls. The real question was, why was she here in the first place? There was both a simple an a complicated answer for that. The simple one was that she heard of a new recruit, by the name of Arthur, and wanted to test his abilities as a meta-human. The complicated one, she needed to test him, to see if he was someone she could see bringing along to her fight against the Empress.

She'd tell him neither of the reasons, because he should be ready for training any second when you're involved with a gang such as the Triad. Everyday someone is trying to take what isn't theirs, and if one isn't ready to defend it... well... it is either you win or you die.

Scarlett could hear blade cutting through the air even before she turned the corner into a large open training area. Arthur was standing off in the corner, swinging his sword at a table. She couldn't fault him however, his movements were that of a master. It was good to see that she wasn't going up against someone that didn't know what they were doing. "I'm glad you're here before me, you're off to a good start." Her tone of voice was firm, very business-oriented.

When he turned he'd see her running her fingers through her long crimson hair, pulling it back into a pony tail. Her sapphire eyes never leaving his person, even as she began to circle him towards the center of the room. She was wearing tennis shoes, black spandex shorts and a workout top. She was definitely there to train, why else would anyone wear something like that... right? There was no need to explain how beautiful she was, even with the scars across her shoulder blades that were visible in the shirt. Scarlett didn't seem like the kind of girl that would pick a fight with someone so bulky as Arthur.

In comparison to Arthur, she looked like a meatless toy that he could grab and probably throw. If not for her ample assets, she'd be easily thrown as a javelin.

When she found the center of the room, she stopped and put her hands onto her shoulders, her legs equally spread shoulder width apart and a wicked smile across her face. "I hope you don't need an introduction to why I'm doing this, because you aren't going to get one. All you're getting is: Go!" Scarlett wouldn't make the first move, she wanted to see how good of a dancer he was first, before joining him on the dance floor.

Arthur heard the footsteps coming down the hallway towards where he was practicing. It seemed that his guest has arrived but he continued till he heard her voice telling him that he was off to a good start. He turned in a way that looked natural to the blade swinging he was doing and when he fully turned he sheathed his blade in one fluid motion so that he could give his full attention to his partner for the night. Boy was she a looker but he had to push that out of his mind even though he didn't want to. He was here for a reason and that was to show what he could do. He was part of a gang and even though he had his own objective he would help them in whatever they needed.

She said that all she was giving him was a go and that there was no need for introductions. She was also unarmed so for now the sword would stay sheathed. "I don't believe there is a need for introductions either." he said plainly as he tied his hair back never taking his eyes off of his opponent. Never let your guard down unless you want to end up dead. It was a lesson that definitely applied to this time it seemed. His mouth formed into a wicked smile with flames coming out the sides and his eyes were burning with an orange-ish light. He wouldn't use the full extent of ability right away it was more of a cosmetic thing that he usually did to see if the person scared easily. What is scarier than a pissed off person with flame glowing eyes and a mouth full of fire. He advanced quickly and effortlessly as he would move in to throw the first punch going right for the gut and ever ready to dodge when she decides to throw a punch back. This was training after all and there was no need to do anything to that pretty face of hers... yet.

Scarlett thoroughly enjoyed that he was not going to question why she had called him here. Her eyes never leaving him as he came at her. He was strong, there was no doubt in her mind that he could be a hard opponent to going against, if caught by surprise. However, he moved straight at her, a mistake he would soon learn was not one to make. His eyes did not scare her, the fire that burned in her was brighter then those eyes. Her own sapphire ones were a token to that, what is the hottest part of the fire but the blue flames? Holding herself there till the last minute was easy, seeing each of his steps and the jab that was coming straight for her gut was easily seen. He would need to be a bit more spontaneous if he was going to land a hit on her.

The red head pivoted on her foot and pushed herself out of the way. She could feel the hefty wind behind his punch moving by her hip. It would have definitely caused the wind to be knocked out of her if she hadn't moved. Even though it didn't make contact, she was still impressed at the power he had behind that punch. It was definitely something that would come in handy. On top of that, it seemed he was a pyromancer of some kind. Those eyes, the heat, yeah. He was one of her--at least to some extent.

It was her turn to go on the offensive. A smile crossed her lips as she spun around. Her hands finding the ground and a swift upper cut with her foot went straight for Arthur's jaw. Scarlett's legs were the strongest part of her body, and a kick from her to the face would send stars flying. He better have fast reaction time to get out of getting hit there.

She wasn't fazed by his appearance which was a good thing. If she was then he didn't understand how one can be part of a gang. When he swung his fist she easily dodged it and started an attack of her own. Good this is going to be interesting he thought. When she smiled and before she went for her attack she would see the smile form on his face as well. When her hands hit the ground and her foot came up Arthur saw the foot and moved just enough to watch her foot miss his jaw. Before she would end the attack Arthur would pivot on his one foot in order to spin for to sweep with his other leg targeting her hands that she was using to hold herself up for her earlier attack. He was quite quick on his feet which she would learn rather quickly is she didn't see the secondary attack coming. She was a quick one and that's what Arthur liked to see. if this is how she fought then this would be quite the fight indeed. whether or not the attack hit he would back away and regain a standing posture.

The force of her kick sent her up and over, cartwheeling backwards and throwing herself up into a standing position. His attack was easily dodged because of her swift movements. It seemed that neither of them would get anywhere when it came to hand to hand combat against each other. Unless one of them got the drop on the other, it would be them throwing fists back and forth, only to the point where one of them wore out first. Something told her that it wouldn't be him that got tired first.

As she flipped backwards and landed solidly on her feet, she stood a few feet away from him. One of her hands resting at her hip and the other dangling down her side. The smile that was on her face had faded to a more serious one as she took a deep breath. Readying herself for another attack. However, instead of going in for something physical, she pulled her hand up and chuckled. "Hope you like playing catch." She taunted him.

A ball of fire gathered in her hand as she spun around and threw it towards Arthur. The ball of fire would roughly be thrown at the speed of a baseball pitch (somewhere between 90-100mph). The impact enough would send him flying back and burn whatever area it hit. She would soon see if he were a pyromancer or not.

As he thought she would dodge the attack. She was a fast one and it only fueled the flame making Arthur want to fight even more because he always enjoyed a good fight. It was still only the beginning but it was shaping up to be a good one. When she returned to a standing position he quickly did as well. The smile remained on his face, he was enjoying this the rush of a good battle. Before he could do anything more she asked if he enjoyed playing catch. Now that was a weird thing to ask in the middle of a battle and that was when he saw it. She formed a fireball in her hands and threw it at him.

He had to think fast or else he would take it head on. He knew he couldn't dodge the attack so he did the next best thing, he would slow it down. Arthurs eyes glowed the same as before and this time also opened his mouth which then produced flames. He spewed fire out of his mouth the hit the ball of fire hurtling towards him. It wasn't enough to dodge it but when it hit it didn't hurt as much. His armor absorbed some of the blow but it still hurt like hell. It sent him back about five or six feet and he had to use his strength to keep him from completely falling to the ground after he slid the distance. He was hunched forward and had his hand touching the spot where he got hit. When he stood up straight and moved his hand there was a scorch mark from where he got hit by the fireball. If she was going to go to a ranged game he couldn't compete with that. He removed the armor he was wearing and was left in his pants and shoes. He removed his shoes and was left barefoot. He dropped his armor where he stood which hit the ground with a loud thunk. "Well it seems that the game has changed. Neat trick you have there." The smile returning to his face. He was faster now that nothing was holding him down. He took a fighting stance and prepared for the next attack.

Scarlett watched as he blew flames from his mouth, however that was not the tell-tale sign of a pyromancer. The flames were completely different from that of a pyromancers, it was hot but it spit fire as if from a difference source then hers did. She wasn't afraid of it, thankfully fire was not something she was weak against. On the contrary, she was actually immune to it. More or less.

Watching him strip his armor off, Scarlett crossed her arms under her chest. He would need to lose those extra pounds to start dodging her attacks better. Though, she was very impressed with his innovation and creativity to try and block her attack. Even if fire normally doesn't stop fire. Thankfully he was able to slow it down, or that attack would have hurt a lot more then it had. It made Scarlett shake her head and chuckle though, he felt the need to become faster to face her; it was quite the compliment. She knew she was a fierce warrior, but for someone as fast as he was to need to be faster made her ego blow up a bit.

"These are no tricks."

Once more, Scarlett lifted her hand, but this time she gathered a basketball sized ball of fire and held it in her hands. She wondered what he would do this time. "Catch."

Pulling her arm back she, with force, threw the ball straight at Arthur, this ball however wasn't as fast as the one before. But if he didn't move quick enough, this one would do some serious damage. She was keeping him at a distance for now, soon though he'd find himself between the cracks of her whip if he approached.

at the disrobing of his armor he felt a lot lighter which to him meant he could dodge those attacks better. He couldn't completely stop those attacks with his fire breathing but they at least slowed them down which at this point would help a great deal. He couldn't just let her keep attacking like this he had to fight close up to be effective. She had the range but if he could get close then he could do more. She looked fast but if he could get a couple of hits on her then this fight would be won. He needed to see if she was going to keep those fireballs going. That's all he needed was to have her catch him with a fireball while he was dodging another one. Fighting was all about strategy and he needed to test the limits of what she could do.

She claimed there were no tricks and again told him to catch. The fireball she threw was even bigger than the last. I cant let that one hit me he said to himself. It moved slower than the last one so he could definitely dodge it. With a quick juke to the side he was able to get out of the path of the fireball. If that would have hit it sure would of hurt even more than the last one he though. After the next attack he would move closer and try to get within arms reach of her and hopefully not get hit by any fireballs. For now he would patiently wait and see what she did next. "Your going to have to do more than throw some flames at me dear." He said mockingly.

Scarlett wasn't surprised that he was able to easily dodge her attack. They really didn't need to continue this little training exercise, she had seen quite enough to know that he was able to fight by her side. But, that wouldn't be fun now would it? She needed to see how he adapted to different situations, and if something unordinary were to happen in a seemingly ordinary fight. Holding out her hand, she chuckled. "Oh you haven't seen anything yet, Arthur." Her eyes shifted from him to the ground below her. If he wasn't going to attack her, then it seems she'd have to hit the final blow with her whip.

Pouring out of her hand like lava, fire melted down to the ground. Forming into a solid flaming whip that hissed when it touched the cold wooden floor. "You can't always stay on the defensive."

As she had with the ball of fire, Scarlett pulled her hand back and cracked the whip behind her before giving an evil grin. With a very heavy swing she swung the whip towards Arthur. It was much faster then her ball, but it was still dodgeable. If he didn't move, and it were to make contact, the whip would wrap around his wrist and up his forearm. He'd feel the pain of being burned, but not just that, she'd pull him forward to his knees and come running at him with a knee to his face.

If the attack had missed, Scarlett would pull the whip back for another swing.
