| They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home. Can you survive it? Wade was nervous. He hated the graveyard. He couldn’t stand the idea of them,. He couldn’t help but think of the people that were buried in the ground. They were dead, yes… but they used to be alive. How many of them died because of circumstances rather then it being their time? Even then being their time means they were destined to die… is that what life is? Waiting for death? Wade hated graveyards, they made him think such somber thoughts, and he needed to chase those memories away. He remembers what Mizu told him. He needed to think positive thoughts… positive thoughts… It was a bit easier then he thought. Wade had brought Mizu’s gift with him. A tiny little kitten that he held in his hands. It was tiny and fluffy, a white tailless kitty with three paws. Wade found this little critter by accident. It was a disgusting sight, the mother had died, and the rest of the litter was gone too, and this little guy was the only survivor. The poor thing was starving, and Wade took it in. Wade couldn’t keep it, as much as he wanted to, if he took in every lost animal; he’d be surrounded with cats and dogs. Mizu was so gentle. He was sure she’d take good care of the little guy, and who didn’t like kittens? He played around with it, petting it, as it clawed and bit his hands playfully. He invited Miranda too. They were her parents. No doubt she’d have stuff to tell them too. Wade waited, playing with the kitty. |

| "Friend of yours?" Miranda asked as she approached, referring to the kitten in Wade's hands. Her tone was not the usual chipper tone, it was far more solemn as she approached her parent's graves. "So this spirit talking woman, is she legit? I don't... I don't want to have all this hope for nothing." She hadn't visited their graves since that day, her guilt for running and hiding too much for her. |

Mizu tried not to be her up beat self, it was a different kind of mood going into this meeting. It was true that Mizu could talk to the recently departed, and sometimes if the energy was strong enough, she could contact spirits in the graveyard or something of that nature. It wasn't up to her if the spirits come or not, it is completely up to the will for them to want to make contact. It didn't matter the time they died, as long as they had the longing to be heard in the living world, Mizu would be able to help in some way. As she approached the graveyard, she saw Wade and another person, a girl, standing next to each other. Waving her hand in the air she headed towards them. "Hey Wade, you must be Miranda. You probably already know, but my name is Mizu." She said sweetly, her voice very calm and soothing. Her blue eyes meeting up with Miranda's and she spoke again. "I want to give you my condolences, Miranda. It isn't easy losing someone you love, and to lose multiple of them...is even worse." Mizu, a very sympathetic person, put her hand up and rested it against her arm, and gave a warm smile. Compared to Miranda, Mizu was very short, barely reaching over five feet; just like Wade. She turned her attention to Wade, holding a precious kitty in his arms. 'Oh dear God...Mizu..' Mizu barely contained herself, she was from Egypt after all, cats were...her weakness. The poor thing was missing a paw and all Mizu wanted to do was hold it and make it all better. She contained her excitement, it wasn't the time for place for that. "Is that the gift you said you'd bring me? I ... I love cats." Moving forward, she put her arms out and began putting the cat. Instantly, the cat began purring. It was Attalu, that was the reason cats were so fond of her. "Alright.." She wanted to not waste their time, and she spoke sweetly but very serious. "To contact them, they have to want to come to the living. I'm just ... here to see them and talk. When I talk to them, the language you'll hear out of my mouth wont be human." People often thought that Mizu was a fake because they couldn't understand what she was saying. The dead don't understand the human tongue any longer. They weren't meant to contact people from that plain of existence after death. Neither Miranda or Wade would be able to see them, but at least they would have some form of peace. "I need to know...where their graves are." |

Wade played with the kitty. He was reminiscing. The happy times… Miri would call him Mister Ackington just to get on his nerve. He`d start tickle fights. They`d get on each other`s nerves. They’d play pranks on each other. They were often compared to two puppies play fighting. It got worse after Miri grew up, and was able to brawn her older cousin, but that barely stopped it. He was smiling at the cat, then he heard her voice. Miranda, his beloved cute wittle cousin; he held up the kitty at Miranda. “Yesh! I found her alone… She`s so cuddly!” He held her up for Miri to pet. The kitty was very responsive and loveable. He nodded at her about her question. “I trust her! You`ll see why when you meet her. She`s like…mythical… or something” Soon Mizu came forth and Wade bowed at her. “Mizu, you made it! That`s Miranda!” he said happily. He was trying to force a smile. He was here for a while thinking happy thoughts. Wade smiled as Mizu seemed to appreciate the cat. “Aye, she`s an orphan. I found her in a dumpster. She was still meowing…. Her mother`s body must`ve kept her warm. She was so tiny, and weak. I took her in, but… I can`t keep her. I figured, you’d take her, and she really seems to like you” Wade said happily as the cat was really into her. Wade turned to Miranda at her last question… “Hum… I never actually… visited their grave…. So Miranda, can you lead the way?” He asked as he took her hand |

Miranda petted the kitten gently, it had been some time since she had seen a cat up close. Such a beaten up little thing... for a moment the coldness in her heart this place cause melted as her fingers washed gingerly over the animal's fur. The moment was interrupted when the woman they had been waiting for arrived, giving her condolences. "I've had time to heal, but it is hard. To be here at their graves... I haven't been here since the funeral. I almost feel like I betrayed them by never visiting but... I just couldn't." She nodded at Wade's question, heading towards where their graves were. It had been a long time, but she would never forget. That long walk of shame as she left the funeral, knowing she had just sat there and watched as they were murdered. She led them up the path, dreading every step. Her heart felt heavier and heavier as they approached, and finally she stood before their graves. She read the headstones to herself, and it was like the world dropped on her. Miranda was a strong girl, most injuries she shrugged off with some groans or a hiss of pain, but this pain cut deep. It was like someone had driven a sword into her heart and twisted it at that very moment, breaking the dam she had held up for so long, leaking only when she was alone. She fell to her knees, clenching her fists. At first, the tears were silent, a couple rolling down her cheeks. Soon, her face was a river of tears as her breathing began to catch and shudder, and finally the dam crumbled, washed away in the ocean that had built behind it. She let out a pain wail as she started to cry again, harder than when she had met Wade again. It was suddenly so real again, her parents were dead, these were their graves, she had watched them die. |

Mizu felt the dead trying to grab at her attention, the lost souls of the dead, they were strong. These people, these long lost souls of ones passed on, they wanted nothing more then a final fare well. Their truck up the hill towards Miranda's parents grave was a heart ranching one. As they stopped, it wasn't long before Miranda fell to her knees, and it broke Mizu's heart. She had lost her family long ago, over twenty-five thousand years ago, and it was hard. Even after all these years, she misses them. Though it doesn't give the same effect that it does to Miranda right now, it had been so long that those feelings of loss were gone completely. This didn't deteriorate her smile, she needed to keep it on her face to help Miranda and Wade. Which they would need it when she began. She stepped in front of Miranda, and put her hand out onto her shoulder, and got down onto her knees. Lifting Miranda's head up, Mizu smiled. "I'll do whatever I can to take this pain away from you." Mizu's eyes were glossed over, she was pushing back her own tears. It was hard to see someone cry, especially in a situation like this. Understanding the pain she was in, Mizu wouldn't push the subject about trying to stay strong for her parents. Miranda knew that her parents wouldn't want to see her crying, but telling her that may not end well. Mizu looked up at Wade and nodded her head. "Let's begin. You'll need to tell me what you want me to ask them, or just to tell them." Mizu turned around and faced the grave of her parents. Her hands lifted up, and a bright blue light began to engulf her arms. A humming sound began coming out of her lips, it wasn't singing or words, just a simple hum. Once their family was to show themselves to Mizu, no one else would be able to see or hear them. They would just have to trust Mizu that they were there. The tongue she would speak would not be any human language, but a spiritual one. "Hello..?" Mizu spoke out, in the spiritual tongue. What Miranda and Wade would hear come out of her mouth was a bunch of random syllables, and sounded like a mix between Russian and Egyptian. It sounded almost alien like. "Mr. and Mrs. Carter, my name is Mizuiro Aoi Tsugumi. I have your daughter here, with her cousin, Wade. They...would like to talk to you." As she finished speaking, two bright lights began to appear in front of Mizu, and she smiled...waiting for them to respond to her. |

Wade knew how Miranda felt… Well, no… She witnessed their death. She was there, and was helpless to help. Wade wasn`t even there… They were dead for three years, and Wade didn`t even know. They were searching for him. Wade killed them by running off to do his own thing. Where was he when they died? Three years ago, when he first arrived… Wade had it tough. He didn`t have a reputation to protect him. He often needed to be rescued himself from imminent death, but he kept roaming the streets; fearless because of his hands… but they… They were normal people. They didn`t have any powers to boost their confidence. They couldn`t have known how dangerous Niwa was… After their initial meeting, Wade told her he wanted to know where their grave was, but it stopped there… This was the first time visiting, and the guilt he tried so hard to contain was pouring out. His heart never felt heavier, and each time it pounded it felt as though it got heavier, and heavier… He wanted to barf, empty his inside. He started fearing what they would say… Would they…. Would they follow in his own parent`s footsteps and disown him?! He wanted to apologize. He…. He… Didn`t know what to say… He couldn`t heal this pain, and it wasn`t for trying, his hands were clutching his chest area, but there was no light; nothing to heal… Wade saw the headstone, and saw Miranda fall to her knees. He coldn`t… He couldn`t…. He knelt down next to Miranda and held her in his arms. He couldn`t say anything, and he just stared at their names; Micheal and Jessica Carter. He`s been crying and mourning their death since he was told… He hasn`t slept at all. Spending time with Emily made him forget, but every time he found himself alone in his office he was reminded of them. He was forgetting Mizu`s words. He had to focus on the positive. Those delicious breakfasts, those cheerful uplifting comments, their worried tone as he overworked himself for an important exam. Getting in trouble with Miranda for rough-housing in the house; those family outings…. Focus… Focus on the happy…. He looked at Mizu as she did her strange ritual. “Miri. Come on. “ he said as he urged her to her feet; if their aunt and uncle were here. He trusted Mizu. She had such a calming and honest presence. If his Aunt and uncle were there…. He shook his head. He had to focus on the happy times. He wanted to talk to his uncle and his aunt. So bad… “Auntie, Uncle! It is I! Your favorite nephew; Soon to be savior of the human race and all-around awesome person; Wade Ackington!” Wade said as cheerful as he could. That`s what he used to say at the top of his lungs when he was a kid, and entered their house. It pained him greatly to say those words; as he kept receiving happy flashbacks of the number of times he said it, and when he entered medical school…. “It is I! Doctor Wade Ackington Ph.D Asking for permission to enter the house!” This was when…. This is when Miranda would ruin his pitch by calling him MISTER Ackington… |
