| They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home. Can you survive it? Assistant District Attorney, Lovena Kakashi had an energetic bounce in her Louboutin-clad step as she strode passed the desks in the Sex Crimes Unit. While the red figure hugging dress made her look like suitable candidate for seeking help here, it was quite the contrary, Lovey, (as the fellas down at this end of Police HQ had come to know her by,) was the talented lawyer who often dropped by to... well, liaise with victims of indecent crimes. But today was a little bit different, because instead of holding one take-away coffee in her hot little hand, she had two! ![]()
They had only spoken over the phone since the detective's return from Tokyo, but the news he had brought back wasn't too great. Actually, it was quite terrible. And Lovena understood that he was feeling upset ... he probably wasn't ready to see his old gal pal that's why he had been avoiding her calls. But today, she figured she would play the support card and have a look to see how Daichi-'big guy'-Otsuka was doing. She'd even brought him a pick-me-up, to cheer him up! Isn't that what friends are for??? |

Daichi could soon be seen emerging from the opposite side of the room, from the men's bathroom to be more specific. He looked good for a guy who had been through probably the worst testimony of his entire life, having cleaned himself up and shaved nicely, even wearing some rather sharp looking clothing to work for once. His expression, however, gave away just how much he actually dreaded actually being in the situation he was in. His lips sat in a basic straight line, his eyes half open and his shoulders slightly hunched over as if he just had enough about giving a fuck for the rest of the day. So, at least from about the neck down, he looked like a sharp and well-prepared guy. That was, until he saw his friend across the way. Daichi liked Lovey quite a bit. The two of them had gotten along great, despite his pathetic attempts at trying to dance, and the two of them seemed to have a lot in common. But today was not a day where he wanted to see the person he considered his closest friend, let alone much of anybody that he actually knew. Daichi just wanted to kick back, find some whiskey somewhere and just let the waves of smoke and grain take his body back to the good times. But today was not his day. So he put his hand up from across the way, to try and get Lovey's attention from across the way, and made his way towards her with only the slightest hesitation. |

"Ah! Mon Pote~" She greeted, with her weird but somewhat french accent. The moment she spotted his enormous watermelon sized hand rise up from across the room, her pouty lips curled into a smile. Yes, that was the giant lovable lug she remembered, all bashful and shying away from her. Granted she wished she could erase some aspects of him from her memory, (ie. his two gi-painfully-gantic left feet,) but that was going to take some time and hours of showing up to dance class. She walked towards him as he closed the distance between them, eventually meeting the man in the middle with a brisk and bouncy hug. "Eheh~!" She giggled while pulling away from his firm (and, not unlike a tree really,) body. "Wow, look at you! You went all Tokyo anorexic on me an lost a few pounds while you were there huh?" she said brightly, naturally keeping a carefree air about her. But despite what Lovena would prefer to have you believe, this saucy woman was more than just an exotic set of breasts. She had a gift. A knack for picking out deception. And although she was all smiles for big ol' Daichi right now, as a concerned comrade in this frightening city, Lovey was looking for signs that things might not be alright in his world. Perhaps a subtle lingering scent of VSOP. Or maybe a reckless purchase, (she would pay special attention to his car keys later.) "I'm so glad to see you again." Lovena spoke earnestly with a tilt of her neck and a weak smile. "anyway, I brought you some essential vitamins. Just the way you like it." she was still holding the two coffees in her hand and this time, grinning wildly as aposed to Daichi's apathetic stare. Edited by Mrs. K, Nov 7 2012, 09:58 AM.

Daichi chuckled the Tokyo Anorexic bit earnestly, his honest moment of soft laughter betraying the facade he'd taken upon himself. It wasn't hard to see that Lovey was concerned for his well being, but it also wasn't easy for him to open up to her, particularly when the two of them were surrounded by their colleagues. Daichi's face had slowly reverted to something that seemed to mimic stone, how he was able to do it he didn't even know, nor did he really realize he had been doing so when he took the coffee that Lovey had offered him. "It's good to see you, too. Come, let's talk at my desk." And with that, Daichi ushered the lovely lawyer to his desk, which had been cleaned up quite nicely after his visit from Tokyo. There's no mess on his desk, just a small pile in the furthest left corner where he had some open cases he still needed to look into. There was an open file that sat in front of the chair, just one of the same cases that had been coming through the Special Victims offices for some time. Sitting down at his desk before taking a good, long sip of his coffee, Daichi exhaled slowly before turning his attention back to his friend. "How's the DA's office been holding up in my absence? Is everything coming apart like the Mayans predicted?" |

"Mayans?" A light chuckle escaped her. "You don't really believe that the world is going to end like that, do you now?" straightening up in her seat opposite the dashing detective, Lovena took a sip of her coffee and grinned. Jokes aside, Lovena was glad to be talking to Daichi like this again, even if the setting was somewhat professional. He was a big guy with a big heart and part of her strongly felt that he was keeping it closed off from the world to avoid being hurt again. Daichi was never one to share much about himself whenever they were together. And yet he had the look of a man who had 'been dragged through hell...' Lovena wasn't sure if he had 'made it back' just yet. "To be honest, Jonah would never admit it, but he had a hard time adjusting to your absence!! Buuuut now that you're here I think everything is going to be just fine." The busty Mauritian folded her arms on the table and tilted her head of brown hair. There was a calm silence as she stared passed his shoulder. How did his appearance at the hearing in Tokyo go? Going back there must have been so hard on him. Lovena personally knew the attorney who was on the case, but to say they had been friends was a far cry. Trisha Tanaka was something of a bully, which worked wonders against the opposition... But not so good when she turned it towards her colleagues. Having your work desk graffiti'd was something you would expect from highschoolers! "So what have they got you doing behind this desk all dressed up nice like this. 'Doesn't look like your normal work." Her deep brown eyes made contact, albeit in a noninvasive sort of way, with his. "Has something changed?" she asked innocently. |

"Well, I...uhh..." Daichi paused as he looked at Lovey, her eyes meeting his and everything else just seemed so consequential. Her eyes may not have been very intrusive-looking, but he could still feel them sort or rattling around inside his head looking for some kind of answers. Daichi's head slowly bobbed back and forth, his mouth reduced to slight stuttering at first for his answers. "I...Uhh...Well, there's not a lot for me to do out in the field, so I've been going through some of my old case files, making sure I didn't miss anything. How's...how's your work load? You need me to pull anything up?" |

"Uh...heh, about that..." Daichi looked down at his suit and couldn't help but feel a little self-conscious about it. It was much different from his usual look, where his shirts are just a little more loose and his pants look a little more worn in. Daichi had bought this particular outfit specifically for his testimony in Tokyo, to look sharp and make a good impression on everyone involved, including his old co-workers from back in Tokyo. They sent their best regards, and they had talked about how much better he looked since he left, but he knew better than to take that to heart yet. "I bought it for my trip to Tokyo. They say the best way to be sharp is to look sharp first, you know?" |

"You can't dodge my questions forever, you cheaky sneaky thing you, Anyway! Speaking of Tokyo!" Lovena looked like a kitten who had found a new toy. "I've been meaning to ask--" She was interupted by her cellphone ringing in her handbag. "Oh!!" she exclaimed, her hands diving into the luxurious bag and rummaging around. Why do girls keep so much crap they don't need in their bags? In an attempt to make space she started emptying items on Daichi's spotless desk. A perfume bottle, notebook, long wallet, personalised coffee mug, phone, unpaid bills. Phone!! Grabbing the item and turning it right side up, she looked up and gave her friend a grave and solemn look. ![]()

Daichi tried to speak up, but was cut off shortly by the sound of her phone, and soon afterward distracted by his friend dumping all of the crap from her purse out onto his desk. Daichi's face had turned into a question as this happened, but actually looking through the contents of her bag was even more baffling. Daichi could understand some things, such as the the notebooks and the wallet, but the second Daichi spotted the unpaid bills amongst the rubble, he just couldn't stay quiet anymore. "Hey, I-" "oh no Daichi... This is not good." "Uhh...what now? Frenemy? What's going on?" Daichi had no clue what was going on with the woman right now, but something obviously had her freaked. Daichi had moved some of her stuff out of the way of the file on his desk, trying to look around to see what might have been alerting her. Some of the other detectives and officers nearby had stopped and starred too, wondering what Lovey could be so worried about. But then, towards the same way where Lovey came in, another woman had decided to make an entrance. A woman who was confident, stern, and something more along the lines of a force to be reckoned with. Daichi knew this woman all too well, and her presence here could only mean something bad. He cursed under his breath as she approached, dreading the news she brought with her... |
