| They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home. Can you survive it? Yui had probably one of the weirdest nights, she had just got off a case where she needed to bring two people into custody, simple right? Obviously not, when she ran into a man Liam and his robot who had already taken out the two that she had went to retrieve. Moving her hair to the side of her shoulder she sighed, remembering the nights events. All she wanted was a drink, and to relax. Yui had invited that Liam guy to buy her a drink for keeping her mouth shut, which she would hope he'd keep his word. Going back to the office and not saying anything about the assignment was a bit difficult to say the least, but she did keep her promise not to say anything. She didn't put much thought into her outfit, she wore a simple black skirt and a red silk top that was cut to about her hips in length. When her arms would stretch over her head, it would expose a bit of her slender stomach. She clung to a small black purse and she wore cute black sandals that were flat. Making her way to the bar she sat down and brushed her fingers throughout her hair and sat her purse down. Her long legs crossing over each other, and her elbow leaning against the bar she waved over the bartender. "White Russian, please." She sighed and looked around the lounge, this was a nice quiet place...not really her scene, she loved the night life. Dancing and all that. But it would be nice to have a calm couple of drinks. Maybe move on to a more, energetic place, later in the night. Edited by Aurora, Oct 26 2012, 03:18 AM.

"I get off in an hour, if you make it a stronger drink you have a deal....Sky lounge, in an hour and a half." Just what the hell was he thinking, anyways? She was a cop. A very cute cop...and blonde... But still, a badge. The organization Liam was a part of made a point of having familial relations with Cops without the two of them ever really...rubbing elbows. It was a mutually beneficial, symbiotic relationship. Getting drinks with one? Well, then again, Axel and Elysse were together. Stranger things have happened in the city. But the Sky Lounge? Fuck. He should have changed their meeting place - should have thought ahead. Then again, when he'd left an hour and a half ago and brought ASHURA back to base, he'd planned on running diagnostics for the rest of the night on it. Analyzing the data, crunching numbers, tightening gears, adjusting belts, ironing out the kinks of his repurposed armor suit. But there weren't any kinks to iron out. The field tests were all in good form. It was just the foreign AI he had to contend with. Without the safety protocols built in... who knows what could happen. But there was nothing for him to do. As he sat at his desk, spinning a wrench between his fingers and looking over the ASHURA, he wondered, for a moment; another night up at the lab, drinking alone, or a night off, with a tall-as-hell chick who could modify her own guns? He parked his car outside the building and looked up. He groaned. The men we murdered, that night... Making his way down the halls, he decided to take the stairs instead of the elevator. He'd arrived a little early to stroll down memory lane. The cameras were in the same spots as they were on that night. They'd washed the blood off the walls. The gray matter out of the carpet fibers. Wait...no they didn't. Most of the floors had new carpets now. Made sense. Organs are hard to scrub out of the rug. Fingertips trailing down the walls, he could see dark, dark flakes every so often in the stairwells. Dried blood; tiny patches of it that you wouldn't notice, if you didn't know where to look; if you didn't see the blood splattering that night. To be the maid that cleaned up that next day? Gross. Coming in the main bar area, he smirked; looking around at the windows. He remembered where his bullet tore through the window - there was still a mark in the ceiling from his shot. Oh well. No more dead yakuza here, no more flipped tables and grenade marks. He sat down beside Yui at the bar, not sure if he was happy she was there, or if he should be concerned. Would she blackmail him, for the ASHURA project? Tell the world about the MT? He didn't want to think about it; but it wasn't exactly a social call, either. "'Ey, Barkeep. Rum n' cream. She's with me." He put his card on the bar, took his drink, and pressed it to his temple, looking over at the cop. Sigh. "So does this mean you're not going to spill secrets, or are you someone I should be worried about?" |

Yui was shocked to say the least that Liam had shown up that night, she turned her body towards him. Her hand coming up and brushing her hair away from her face, exposing a smile. "Ah, you came." Her tone was different from the last time they had met, as if he was meeting a different person. It was all upbeat, and energetic. Her bright smile something that was never seen on the job, was wide across her face. She pulled down her skirt and readjusted herself to be positioned well enough to see him, and him to see her. The bartender came over with her drink and she smiled and thanked him, holding the straw in her fingertips she rolled it around in the ice. Her eyes taking focus off Liam, and eying her drink. Bringing the drink up to her lips, she took a sip. Her body seemed to relax, her other arm coming up and patting on Liam's arm. Releasing her lips from the straw, she chuckled. "Don't be so worried. I didn't say anything." How could she, honestly. She had no idea if the other officers would think she was crazy, or just seeing things. Yui was still relatively new to the Niwa, so seeing a robot that did what it did may be regular to the citizens, but to her it...not so much. "I told you I wouldn't." She reassured him. "Plus, you showed up tonight, and are buying me a drink. Now I'll have to keep that promise." Her hand wrapped around her drink again and she took another sip. "On a more serious note.." She licked her lips, and pressing them together, making a humming noise "Mmm" , she brought her gaze up to Liam. Yui's sapphire blue eyes piercing into his. "What are you guys?" She was all about keeping secrets, and she understood that sometimes things just needed to be left alone. Though, the least that Liam could do was to tell her what he did. His line of work, if he wasn't a cop and he didn't belong to any street gang. What was he? 'Handsome, that's what.' She kept herself from giggling out loud. Heaven forbid she have to explain the random outburst of her obnoxious giggle. |

"On a more serious note.." .... "What are you guys?" How far down the rabbit hole should we go? For a short time, the man in front of her said nothing...just smiled. Slowly. You could see his mind at work, spinning wheels, calculating outcomes, trying to figure out just how dangerous the woman in front of him could be. But like he'd figured earlier... Axel was dating a cop. Shinji...well, Shinji was probably still a virgin. Gavin was dating someone he didn't enjoy, and she was only there because of Gavin, she wasn't concerned about Cerberus, their goals or motives. And beyond even that, if Axel's intel was good - and it usually was, then.... well, she wasn't his favorite person. Either way, she was keeping quiet about ASHURA, for now. That was good; she was either set to blackmail, or she was another 'big picture' cop. Let a couple things slide in the name of getting more results down the line. If that was the case... then there was no harm in it. Then again, if she intended to pull out cuffs and bring him in...well, they'd never make it to the parking lot. He leaned in closer, his voice quiet. He was still smiling. "I'm with Cerberus. Don't know how long you've been in town; you've prolly heard of us. If not, we're.... well, we're doing what we can to help the city. We don't have badges, but we've got spirit." He shrugged. "It's been working for us, so far. You know the GJK leader, Kim Doo Hwan?" He smirked, slowly, tipped his drink towards her for a moment, and said nothing. Saying it would be incriminating, right? But alluding to it... Well, the korean gang leader was dead, Cerberus had pulled the trigger - but word on the street was, Yakuza had done it. Which was the plan. It was their most recent hit, no reason to bring up The Sky Lounge Shootout... ancient history by now. "At any rate... I'm the group's engineer. Spend most of my free time at the...place where..." He coughed. "Yeah, gonna stop talkin' now. Your turn, blondie. What's your story." |

Yui shuffled back a bit in her seat and leaned over to listen to Liam speak to her. His voice calming and low, and a smile across his face. There was truth in his words, and she knew it. She would have hated for him to lie to her, that would have made this night a bit more awkward. Leaning up as she stopped talking to her she was about to question more, but he got to it first. Chuckling, she raised her glass and drank the rest of it before speaking. "Well..." Where was she to start with that question.. "I grew up in the states. New York City." She straightened her back and rested her hands on her thighs. "When I graduated high school I went straight into the military, my mothers weren't to pleased with me when I did, but they saw the dedication in me and had my back." She gestured the bartender for another, and she then continued. "I was in a tactical division in Iraq and Afghanistan. I spent most of my time in Iraq though. I served for six years, and now I live here in Niwa and work for the NCPD on their special teams as a sniper." Most of the information from her being in Iraq and Afghanistan, was secretive and classified. Honestly no more could have been said about that part of her history. "So, Liam I want you to know that I wont use this information to harm you or Cerberus." He had been giving off signals that he still didn't trust her. Which was good to have that approach, but she needed to reassure him. "I'm a cop first. You'll understand my duty is to the city of Niwa, now that being said." The bartender brought her drink to her and she thanked him, and brought her attention back to Liam. "What ever is best for this city, because it is my home. If you are who you say you are, one of the 'good guys', then I don't see any reason to not trust you. Weird question, how old is your robot companion? And how long have you been with Cerberus?" She made sure to take extra care saying that name out loud, she noticed how sensitive he was to talking about it out loud. |

Should he tell her he knew most of that? It's amazing what you can find out about people on the internet if you know what to look for. For Liam it was relatively simple. He'd had her name, knew she was a cop, pegged her former military, knew she was from the states... It's been said the human brain is the fastest computer alive. Now when the fastest computer alive, is inside what has widely been considered a genius intellect, decides to merge with an internet search engine... well, you can get a lot of information, very very fast. The two mothers thing, however, was new. But he wouldn't tell her he'd known the rest of it... had read her psych evaluation, looked at her physical test scores, - the things Liam was capable of were widely considered dangerously OP. You should see him play Halo. Hax the game to dodge all bullets, never get assassinated, and murder everyone with one bullet. XBL has tried banning his accounts numerous times. To no avail. "Well, I wouldn't say we're 'the good guys', but...I see your point." He smirked, slowly. "Bigger picture people are the ones that end up being our allies, in the long run. At any rate... I've been with Cerberus since before it was even called Cerberus. My good friend, Gavin, was the one who started it all; but I joined up with him when he first started an attempt to bring vigilante justice to the streets. He called us 'The Jedi', - most of us wore costumes, went out into the night saving people. Now it's bigger, we have a division just for doing that..." He shrugged. "So over a year now, I suppose. I helped him with the Sky Lounge Shooting. I built our bangle. The robot, though? I made him last week. Used most of my old armor suit for him. Couple tweaks, some paint. I used to look like a black iron-man. But over time...I just didn't feel it was necessary for me to be in the field. Leave that to more...interested folk..." |

Yui listened in as be spoke to her, the fact he was there from the beginning gave him good credibility. She likes that, and after him saying they referenced themselves as 'the jedi's' only made her accept Cerberus even more. A week, wow that thing was young, but already was doing so well. She tapped her foot a bit as she finished the last of her drink, then gestured for another one. Turning back towards Liam she spoke. "May the force be with you, young skywalker." She let the geek in her show. Laughing with a bright smile she continued. "The bigger picture here is that yes you guys are doing the right thing by Niwa and that's all that matters yes?" Yui uncrossed her long legs and put her left leg over her right this time, adjusting her skirt afterwards. Yui saw the bartender coming with her drink and she smiled and took it, taking a sip she brought her attention once again back to Liam. "Tell me about you, now, Liam." She wanted to redirect the question back to him, because now he knew her story it was time to know his. |

Rum and cream was always a little on the sweet side at the sky lounge. With a wave, Liam called the bartender back over, ordered something he referred to as ...was th-...did he just order a menopause? No, that couldn't be right. The bartender had never heard of it, so Liam described it; mango juice, smirnoff cranberry, with a slice of lime. Nice slushy little drink; you'd think he was getting ready to pop off his top and get into the ocean. Ordering fruity, seaside beverages in the middle of a night club at the end of fall. Idiot, or genius? The drink slid over to the young engineer and he smirked slowly, thanking the man for his patience; then turned back to Yui, taking a slow sip through that big, read straw. Take it slow, no brain freeze. Even the glass looked silly. If it didn't help, the triforce on his hand was pointed at her. "Me? Not much to tell, really. Had good parents. Smart. Well off. I was diagnosed with Aspergers when I was young; spent most of my time playing with lego sets, wasn't very social. When I was nine I was re-diagnosed with low-latent inhibition. No autism; turns out I was just shy. Fuckin' doctors. So anyways, I just started working in my father's word-working shop, then started asking him to get some metal fabrication tools in there. Started designing my own things. Was twelve when I made your motorcycle helmet. Mother passed - peacefully - right before college..." He paused for a minute...smiled; slowly. "Went to college, got into some good engineering programs, blah blah blah... designed some shit for the military, started making my own toys. The airplane-motorcycle never got off the floor, but the armor suit did. Met Gavin, started helping him out, ipso facto...present day." He smirked again, quietly; taking another sip. He spoke with a quiet pride; factual, slightly arrogant, but not overbearing. Confidence; not all in the most humble ways, but if nothing else, confident. "What bike do you have, anyways? Want a tune up?" |

What the hell did he just order? Yui gave a questioned look at him, that didn't sound anything like a guys drink to her. Either way, it sounded delicious, and put her hand up to the bartender and gestured for one herself. She would finish her white Russian then try that sweet-mango drink. As he began talking, Yui just sat and listened, drinking her drink and nodding her head. When he said his mother passed, though peacefully, Yui couldn't help but feel a bit of sorrow within her. She didn't know what she would do if she lost one of her mothers, it would tear her apart from the inside out. Her mothers meant the world to Yui, and she'd do damn near anything for them: Anything. Trying not to think about that, she finished off her drink and pushed the cup and pulled the mango drink to her. Not wanting to drink it right away...she didn't want to have Liam dragging her out of the Sky Lounge drunk. Even though she was a pretty peaceful drunk, and was good about taking a Taxi alone, she didn't know Liam well and didn't know yet if she could fully trust him. As he finished, she smiled. "636 Ninja ZS-6R, 1000 ABS, its my baby. I'll be needing a tune up here soon, and now knowing the best mechanic in the world is sharing a drink with me, you don't need to ask twice." She grinned and chuckled a bit, grabbing the drink and bringing it to her lips. She pushed aside the red straw and drank it from the glass. Her eyes squeezed tightly as she shook her head. "Oh my god, so sweet.." Yui loved her fruity drinks, but holy shit. Within the time she was freaking out about the drink she noticed the tattoo on Liam's hand that was pointing straight at her. "Hmm.." Yui was pretty bold, she didn't care much about the stereotypical girls that were afraid to be forward or outgoing. She reached out her hand and took hold of Liam's hand and lifted it up. For an ex military, her hands were soft, she moisturized well. "This symbol looks familiar. Is it the symbol for Cerberus?" It was a wild guess, and the only reason she made that assumption was because why would someone put a tattoo on there hand unless it was meant to stand for something. Putting on such a visible place would always bring up a conversation, which is the best way to put something out there that you believe in. |

"Euch, a Ninja? And here I thought you were a girl with tastes. Sorry, I gotta run. Gotta go find someone with a little common sense." With that, the grown man turned out of his stool, grabbed his drink, and walked away. About forty five seconds later, he came up on her from behind, out of the other side of the crowd. His drink was gone; replaced with something else that looked equally...emasculating. He was also wearing a lei...a bright pink lei. He smirked and sat down, tapping her shoulder. "Eh, I was just kiddin. But seriously, the ninja is an awful machine. Lady like you needs something durable, something fast; that cheap Kawasaki shit? Hell no. Get yourself a nice little Ducati. Them Italians know their motorbikes. But yeah, the tattoo?" He had to laugh, holding his hand out again; this time, pointing at the different triangles. "Though I was the one to decide to use this for Cerberus, it's not originally from that. This is one of the trademark symbols from the Legend of Zelda series; sixteen games over the last twenty five years. This is The Triforce, a set of sacred relics left behind by the Goddess Din, Nayru and Fayore - respectively, Power, Wisdom and Courage. When all three pieces are assembled, touching The Triforce is fabled to grant the wish of whomever touches it. If a wish is made by a person who does not have equal parts power, wisdom and courage, it will split apart again, spread over the world; the only part to remain being the part that best represents the person that made the wish. Me? I got all three. Balance for the win." ... What a ![]() Hell. Yes. Edited by Cowboy, Nov 13 2012, 01:24 AM.
