| They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home. Can you survive it? The night was dark, the activities seemed decent. Punks were here and there, performing various tasks, such as just shooting the shit to performing deals. It was the perfect breeding ground for Ashura's test run. The Machine stood quietly, lifelessly on top of a nearby roof. Various faculties ran through the machine, gauging various anomalies and activities that could be seen. The lenses behind the optical plates zoomed and scanned a particular deal going own. With barely any noise, the machine reached down with unwavering speed and drew forth the MultiTool. "Adapt: Rifle" The voice shifted, as if processed through several different synthesizers to work properly. The weapon expanded at certain parts, shifting to the ideal rifle, holding it in his hands, the metal wrapping around the metallic armor of his fingers. He squeezed on the grip and lifted the scope, adapting to the wind and air speed. A bead slides along a tube of his arm and slides almost effortlessly into the chamber. "Target: Neutralized." A click and the sound of air burst from his back and arms, sending the bead propelling at amazing speeds. Like a very high tech air-soft gun. The pellet slammed into the dealer's head, connecting almost effortlessly. The dealer staggered and collapses, going out like a light. The other person drew a gun and began to aim around haphazardly. Ashura could not understand why the man chose to stay to fight it out. The common factor would have been to flee. Lining up the second shot, the man was worried enough to allow Ashura to load a second shot, his body recirculating for the air. The man bolted. Lifting the rifle just a bit to compensate, a second shot was released, the man capsizing over and skidding hard into a tumble on the ground. He slides his finger along the rifle. "Adapt: Axe" The weapon began to re-purpose itself for the tool he wanted. The shaft extended and the majority of tech built up a base at the end. With a push, Ashura leaped off the roof, holding the shaft with both hands. It took a bit, but he was able to authorize a BURST to propel himself parallel to the ground, his heavy feet meeting it as he sprinted. He actions took a bit but he was to secure the area for disposal. He connects the various paths in his cybernetic body. "Request: Disposal. Location: Shipping Yard. Building 238-A" He skidded to a stop and held the weapon defensively. Upon seeing no other people he lowers his guard, yet his eyes scanned the darkness and anywhere he could see. Focusing on rooftops and various dark areas between shipping crates. |

"See...I'd like you to be able to fire more than one round at a time, but if I add a magazine-function to your MT it screws up the morphing process; and if I make the pellets roll down your arm faster, we risk them jamming or not entering the tube properly. We'll figure something out, eventually. Call it a work in progress, yeah?" Being out in the field without his ROIC suit was...disorienting. It felt unnatural. Naked, defenseless. It didn't help that his close friend and organization founder [who'd recently been carted off to Prison] was a walking tank, where as Liam was more the intellectual. That didn't help him so much in the field - such was the point of the armor. But after finding that...Alien AI (He was still convinced it came out of a russian satellite, no matter what the AI said) maybe it was better to just let his suit do the walking for him. Watching the scene from the rooftop he'd been on with ASHURA, he couldn't help but smile; it was a serious risk, installing an unknown AI into the defense-suit he'd designed for himself - but if it could be used in the field, to help people, while he was at he base, helping the rest of the crew? Well, win/win. But for the first field test, it would have been irresponsible for him not to be present. There may be flaws. Bugs in the system. Kinks to be ironed out. He could fix them on the fly, as they happened. Better here, in an alley with low-level grunts, than up against anything major, life threatening, involving innocent bystanders... He came down the fire escape and strode up to his Mini-mech with confidence - it was cold, but the jacket was keeping the coming winter winds at bay - and helping to hide the tool belt wrapped around his waist. Sure was handy. No idea why he kept it on; he didn't need a tool to turn a bolt, to fix a system - perks of his ability - but something about it being there kept him feeling human. Besides, what if the machines all revolted some day? He had a big wrench for that day. No worries. Once in front of ASHURA, he pulled out his datapad and started going over a few figures, mumbling to himself, before looking down at the victims, then back to ASHURA. "Alright, ASH, for future reference? Don't call a target neutralized until you've actually fired and neutralized them. Not doubting your abilities, just how we do it in the field. Also, might have to adjust your HUD display to target better...even plastic rounds fired from this rifle, to someone's head, could be fatal..." His voice left it's jovial nature for authoratative command, for just one moment; "ASHURA, Disengage." The lights faded - not entirely, but faded. For a moment, Liam was in control - perks of putting in voice commands synced to his vocal box. Mwahahaha. Laying a two fingertips against the helmet of the unit, he shut his eyes. What happened next can't really be described in the physical realm, but Liam entered the multiprocessing unit linking the AI to the ASHURA unit's HUD display, rewriting thousands of lines of codes simultaneously, instantaneously. It only took four heartbeats, and his fingers left the bot's forehead. Activate came right after, and the softly glowing sections of ASHURA seemed to thrum back to life. "Alright, so now when you see someone, you're going to have a reticle come up with weak points - we don't want you needlessly damaging anyone. A shot to the chest, with these rounds, can stun a person without causing much harm. Easier to hit center body mass, but less likely to cause permanent injury." His lips pursed, looking up at the Robot. It was half a foot taller than he was. "Maybe we should redesign your helmet. You look pretty damned creepy with no eyes." He shrugged. "Just sayin'." "Yes sir, I understand the objective." Yui's voice was low as she held her phone up to her ear, her back pressed against a large crate and her legs crossed. These assignments she was being sent off to do were really out of the ordinary, but she knew what kind of city Niwa was. Her head leaned back against the cold iron crate, her hands resting against her legs. The large Dragunov sniper rest against her hip, and her hand still grasping her phone. Without another second passing by, Yui slide her phone into her back pocket and picked up her rifle and started making her way down the shipping yard. Keeping a good distance from where she needed to be, she against a steel bar and began scaling the side of a crate where she pulled herself up, holding the rifle to her side. Her eyes watched around her as she made her way across the empty crate, which made a small crackling noise. The sound wasn't loud enough for anyone to hear, but Yui concealed it as best she could. Coming to a gap in the crates Yui jumped across, ducking her head a bit to muffle the sound, and rolling to her feet. Quickly she scaled the next crate up, and rested her gun onto the ground. Before she stood straight up, she detached the scope on her sniper. Her bodies posture was perfect, standing tall and proud as she stood on top the crate, her eyes scanning the area for possible threats. Nothing. Pulling her hand up, Yui looked down the scope, seeing nothing of importance..until she noticed a thing, not a person, standing up to almost lifeless state. She watched carefully as the thing formed a rifle right in front of her eyes. Yui, not easily shocked, showed a facial expression of true astonishment, her fingers almost loosing grip on the scope she caught herself. Squeezing her eyes shut, Yui tried to reconfigure what she had just visually had seen. Yui pulled herself together and looked back down the scope. It hadn't been but less then a few seconds that she wasn't watching this thing, when it already had another weapon of some sort attached to it. This was something straight out of a comic book, and she couldn't help but be skeptical. Was this what she was sent to see? She was only there to stop a drug bust and bring them in for -- she was so worried about this thing forming random weapons out of nothing that she didn't realize that this thing had just taken down the two she was sent to arrest. "Crap.." She spoke softly to herself, but if that wasn't enough someone else was there with that thing. He was a human, at least what she could see of him. The actions he was providing to the thing, gave away the clue she needed to figure out what it may be. "An android? Those things actually exist?" She sighed and quickly made her way back down the crates after picking up her sniper, this wasn't part of her assignment. Those two seemed more trouble then they were worth to take care of, though she was curious about the machine that he was the operator too. Should she let her curiosity take her into a dangerous situation? Yui was no fool, that thing obviously knew what it was doing, and would be a formidable opponent if she had to take it on. On the other hand, she did have the badge and they did just kill men...even if the men were bad people. Yui pulled out her phone again and put it to her ear. "Sir. The targets have been eliminated by a unknown force. One man, one..um, weapon." She paused, nodding her head. She didn't want to say an android, because she may have been wrong. Last thing Yui needed was the police force making sly remarks about her robot encounter. "I understand sir, but I want to investigate this more." No more then minutes later she was at the location where the two where standing. Her eyes wondered the area, making sure no one else had arrived. Her hand reached into her shirt and pulled her badge from her bra strap and put it up into the air, addressing the man and machine. "NCPD." Her other hand was pressed up against her gun that was holstered to her hip. "I'm not trained to deal with, whatever that thing is. So I would appreciate not having to fire upon it. Either shut it down, or keep it from going into battle mode." She tried to sound as professional as possible, but considering the circumstances she did her best. "I just want to talk." Yui at first didn't recognize the man from such a far distance, but now being so close and in front of the man she was able to get a good look at him. She wouldn't say anything right away, but Yui did recognize him, an American man; thanks to him her motorcycle ran with perfection. Even if she had to pay a pretty penny. The machine noticed the cop long before she walked forward, remaining silent as it held the axe tight in it's hand. When she reached for something in her chest, he moves and steps between her and Liam. The thing looked almost hollow thanks to not having lenses for the head piece. It felt like it was looking right at the woman, identifying her and scanning the badge. The hand didn't move from the axe. "Unknown Factor: NCPD. Requesting Permission to Eliminate... Correction.. Permission to Neutralize." He took an aggressive stance, not bothering to back down unless verbally told.

You've gotta be shitting me. Alright, breathe. You've just reinvented the wheel as far as engineering is concerned, and ninety-seconds into it's very first trial run, the government shows up. Innovation will not be stopped! With a slow groan, barely recognizing that there was a cop with a very large rifle within ten feet of them, Liam was rubbing his forehead, elbow resting on the arm folded over his chest. The triforce on the back of his hand was catching the moonlight, much in the same way it was catching his glasses, making them shimmer silver, hiding his eyes in the dark night. Decisions, decisions. Eh, he could probably talk his way out of it. Rolling his eyes, he stepped up beside the ASHURA unit, slapping it on the back as if they were old friends. "No need to frighten the little lady, ASH. Besides, that goes against your programming. MT, Disengage." As soon as the words left his mouth, the Axe in the unit's hands seemed to melt away, shifting, re purposing, changing until it seemed like another thin layer of armor along the unit's right hand and forearm. Good boy. He turned back to the cop. "Alright, as of right now, you're the most dangerous person in this situation. I'm unarmed. He's unarmed. You've got that shiny Dragunov SVD. What's that, the V1 SVU-A edition? Looks like you modified it yourself. Nice dedication, but next time, bring it to a professional. Also, extended box mag? For a sniper? Either you've seen some serious shit or you're a terrible shot. Either way..." With a passive wave of his triforce-coated hand, the magazine of her rifle seemed to pop right out and clunk to the floor. As if being operated by a ghost, the bolt pulled back on it's own, ejecting the round in the chamber - which immediately made it's way over to Liam's awaiting hand. He smiled, twirling it in his fingers. "Mmmk honey, we're unarmed, you're unarmed, everyone's sober. Yaaaay~" He sarcastically twirled his fingers through the air. "But I should add, we're not exactly the bad guys here. You want these two punks, right? Here they are; gift wrapped. Both unconscious, minor wounds, nothing permanent. Hell, if it was you taking them down, with that rifle? I'd say we just spared the lives of two young men tonight. Don't you agree, ASH?" His smirk turned up towards the Mandroid; then back to the woman. She wanted to talk; he was waiting to see how this went. But leaking to the NCPD that someone in the city had their own pet-mech...well that wasn't an option he wanted to entertain. |

Yui gripped her hand gun when the machine spoke, she wasn't going to allow it to get the upper hand. Just as she was about to react to his words, his operator took control and disengaged him. The man spoke with such arrogance, that she knew exactly who he was. The way he knew exactly what gun she had and the upgrades, non professional, all the tweaks, it was without a doubt who that man was. "My upgrades for my weapons are my own business." She loosened the grip on her gun and stood up straight, a more relaxed position. "Plus, why pay overpriced, over rated man to do what a woman could do herself?" Of course she was referencing him, she would never pay someone else to touch her snipers, she had spent more time with that sniper in the last six years then she had with any single human in her entire life; not including her mothers of course. Yui was tired of all the little surprises that each individual she encountered had; this one had some type of telekinesis ability. Taking a deep breath she attempted to stay as calm as possible, not much pissed her off, but when it came to her babies she was extremely defensive. "Fine, its not like I'd shoot you up this close with that sniper anyways.." She grabbed her pistol from her holster and leaned forward and put it onto the ground. "These two, being not dead like I thought they were, I'll bring them in." With a cool head, and a very calm voice she spoke, addressing what she originally came to them for in the first place. "Do you have a permit to have such weaponry here in the city?" That thing, the MT he called it, was a weapon. It was used just like a gun, but instead of holding it and firing it, he verbally spoke the commands and it did so without question or regard to anything around it. "This kind of...machine, I am going to assume you don't have paperwork for it." She could only imagine what was going to happen at that point. It was like busting someone with drugs, if they didn't want to go to prison for possession or selling, they would do whatever it took to take out the apprehended. In this case, Yui was the accuser, and this was much bigger then any drug stop. This reminded her of the military to some degree, a secret that if leaked could compromise more then just the mission. Yui understood better then anyone that meaning, but she needed to uphold the law in any way possible. |

My first drug deal in Niwa and this shit happens. Jeremy stared at the monitor, head in his hands with dismay on his face. He just watched as two men that worked for one of his mentees fell to the ground within seconds of each other. Jeremy reaches for the nearby phone and pauses. No. I can't call in help already. Not on the first one. "Fuck. Slow start in Niwa I guess." Jeremy leaned back in his chair and grabbed a cigar from his jacket pocket. The cigar was supposed to be celebratory, to signal the triumphant first steps into making Love widespread in Niwa. Now it's just a nice smoke. Jeremy lights the cigar and puts his hands on his head and reclines back - the glow of the monitors playing tricks with the smoke. Hope there are less transformers next time. |

Your business? Until I got a look at them, I guess...Women today. So cranky... Once the woman's pistol was on the ground, Liam breathed a sigh of relief. At least now he didn't have to make it jam on her. That'd just be cheating. She was playing along; this was a good sign. Maybe she would be another one of the cops who would help Cerberus; look the other way when crime scenes pointed in their direction. Stop chasing them so hard after a get-away. Hell their leader was in prison doing a favor for The Chief - but not many people - and likely, even less cops - knew that Gavin and Soph were close associates. If anything, Cerberus was the NCPD's hidden blade. Can't talk about what they do; not officially, but they get where the cops can't. Speaking of which, when was that new Assassins creed game coming out? His XBox was getting dusty... "Do I ha-....Do I ha-....I'm sorry, a PERMIT? You're fucking kidding, right?" He didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He just shook his head, over and over; suddenly reminded why he stayed in the base; away from all these random questions. A Permit? Guffaw! "Alright, listen honey." His tone was slower; softer. As if trying to explain a complex video game to your girlfriend. "Even if I wanted a permit, where exactly do you suggest I go? The local NYPD? Last time I was there I didn't see a form that said Mechanical Shape-Shifting Utility Weapon - but you run down there and draft one up, and I'll gladly come sign it; but before I even do that, let's get a few things clear." Pressing his fingers to the forearm of ASHURA, the multi-tool melted down and formed a small baton in Liam's hands. "See this? It can become basic hand tools. Hammer, axe, knife; none of which require a permit. It's only long range application, is a "rifle"..." He held his fingers up, making quotation marks with his hands as the weapon started to shift into it's long-range form. He held it towards her parallel - the 'barrel' pointed off into nothingness, as if showing her how it worked; he was two feet closer by now. Either he was explaining for her sake, or he was proud of his ingenuity. "...And this thing here? As you can see, it has no magazine. It has no spring. It has no hammer to smash down into a center-fire cartridge. It may look like a gun, but it's really more of a high-tech air soft rifle. See these, here?" He plucked one of the beads out of ASHURA, tossing it to her. "That's what it fires. It uses a system of compressed air to launch out non-lethal plastic pellets. What you're looking at here, is not a weapon you should be afraid of; what you see here is the worlds single most badass slingshot." Seemed reasonable enough. Couple details left out here and there, but the weapon started swirling into random pieces again as he pressed it back into ASH, watching it melt back onto his arm. He held his hand back out for the pellet - or for hers? The orientation of his hand, it could have been either. He was just out of arms reach. "We are not here to cause trouble. We are not here to get in the way. This is my city, too. The police can't be everywhere at once; no matter how much manpower they have, no matter how many giant robots they want to build and tear up Center Square with. Now, I'd like to know who I'm talking to. My name's Liam. This big guy here? That's ASH. Well, ASHURA - but we call him ASH. What's your name?" Well he went from arrogant to pleasant fast. Hm. |

If Ashura could sigh, he would have. Being manhandled by Liam. He always preferred to be offline for that. "Liam.." He spoke after several long minutes of silence, folding the metal arms over his chest. It was as if Ashura had become bored, a slight personality quip from watching so many youtube videos to learn more about humans. "You do realize that you are molesting me." It was a term he garnered from the internet, adding various words to his intellect. Adapting every moment. He unfolds his arms and takes a straighter approach. "If that is all. I will return to the rendezvous point, and await extraction." He turned to leave, the steps heavy as he didn't have to hide them any more. Edited by Ao Arashi, Oct 25 2012, 12:39 AM.

Yui hated being talked down too, especially since she was only doing her job. People had no respect for the law, and the things they sacrifice for these people. She watched and listened to the man speak about his weapon. Yui had so many questions about that thing, like could it take control over it's operator. That thing is dangerous, but who was Yui to understand what it was. At that point she cared less what or who it was, she just wanted it to stop moving and not talk. Her eyes moved back to the operator and spoke. "I'm sure if I told you that I'd go make a form for ASHUR here, you wouldn't let me leave here alive." They could try, of course to bring her down but she was no push over. As he shifted the weapons in and out, she ran her fingers along her scalp, brushing through her long blind hair. She sighed, the weapons were extremely advanced and ASHUR was advanced beyond her knowledge. She may have been a bit harsh to them right when she got there. These man obviously thought ahead when it came to taking down an enemy. Yui, if needed to use force, would have shot out the two man's knee cap...obviously injuring them much worse then what these two had done. She looked up and spoke. "I apologize for being a bit rash. Officer Iwasawa, Yui Iwasawa." Yui wasn't one to ignore the fact she may have made the wrong judgement call, she would learn from this and asses better how to react to things like this. "And I know who you are.." She lifted her head up towards Liam. "You may charge a pretty penny, but my motorcycle runs like an angel." She looked at the MT that was about to leave, and she spoke out to it. "It's also...nice to meet you ASHUR." Her tone seemed to be a more calming, not so rude or cold. Her facial expression hadn't changed much, she still looked stern to the core. For her, this was a bit awkward. She didn't know what to say to the two of them. "Well it was a real..pleasure gentleman. But I should probably get back to my job" she turned towards the men and checked there status and they were still unconscious. Looking back up at the two she stood up and spoke again. "...I'd probably head on out. I'm going to call for transport for these two." She was letting them go? Lets get one thing straight here, Yui was my afraid of these two. It must be the whole military secrecy thing that she understood. "I mean, unless there is more to talk about here?" She really hoped they had nothing more to talk about it, she needed a drink after this. Edited by Aurora, Oct 25 2012, 08:01 PM.
