Niwa's Recent News
  • 19 April 2015 -- Niwa is under new management!

Niwa is now under new management as we strive to stand up the the standards of fun and entertaining roleplaying we have so far provided here at Niwa. Today makes the start of a campaign to bring in new members as Head Admin Akaiken and Support Admin Sparky work together to improve and uphold the current face of Niwa and keep us all moving forward!

They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home.

Can you survive it?

- - PROLOGUE - -
The month of October was a bright month for a certain erratic, pink-haired ADD police chief. A lot of people were crazy about Christmas, Valentine's Day, and the start of summer but Soph Dokurow as crazy about Halloween.

Most of the police officers didn't expect to walk into work on October 1st to find the entire station to be covered in pumpkins, fuzzy bats, black cat decals and more kinds of candy than one could fathom (though no one complained about the candy - and subsequently there was a high amount of police officers visiting the dentist in the month of October). Sleepy and coffee-deprived as they were, most of the officers didn't seem too surprised that Soph had dressed up for work.

What they were surprised about was how many costumes Soph Dokuro seemed to have in her closet. Badass, meanwhile, assured everyone that he "wasn't going to have any of that and if anyone dared to get him a costume, hands will be bitten off without leave pay." The pink-haired chief bounced around the station all month dressed as a black cat (no Mohawk), a witch (oh, the irony!), an M&M (mmm, chocolate), a fencer with a rapier ("I long for a worthy opponent!" *jab!jab!*), a fairy with purple wings (and maybe dressed up as the little girl with the large hat too?), a stewardess (whee, planes!), a fluffy cloud (which turned out to be the easiest costume ever), a little pink-haired girl wandering the station asking, "Have you seen my bear Tibbers?" and so on...

(No, I didn't deliberately take inspiration from League of Legends. Okay. Maybe. Yes. IT'S WHAT I DO IN MY FREE TIME OKAY?!)
It'd been a long summer for the NCPD, and now Soph was ready to cheer everyone up again. She worked hard, but made time for her annual visit back home to see her parents. Her mother and father were doing well, despite her father having blown up another section of the house ("I've just decided that it's bound to happen and have given up trying to control him," her mother said with a sigh). Badass went along as well, being his usual, sarcastic, off-putting self.

Occasionally Soph went out to talk with her close friend Kira Mendas. The pink-haired woman usually found Kira to be warm and friendly in her own way, and the small detail that Soph had thrown Kira's boyfriend in jail didn't seem to be too big of a deal. The black-haired woman not only talked about what she had seen on the streets recently, but also mentioned that Soph had been looking less stressed lately, and that it was nice to see that she wasn't overworking herself. Sometimes they would have drinks and chat, go shopping, or just visit an arcade and shoot pixels of monsters. If only actual police work was so easy.

One day, Kira was telling Soph about one of the abandoned schools in West Jinsei. As Kira nursed her gin, her cerulean eyes grew curious as she spoke about it. She mentioned how kids these days would visit the school on a dare, or just for fun, but would come running out saying the school was haunted or something like that. Personally, Kira would suspect drugs, but so many people where talking about dancing pumpkins and skeletons trying to strangle them that unless this was a collective hallucination, drugs wouldn't be the culprit.

"It's pretty much the same old spooky stuff," Kira continued. "Ghosts, snakes, spiders, pumpkins, cats, traces of flying objects. Like Paranormal Activity on crack. It's not normally a police thing to look into I guess, but even most gangsters stay away from the school now, so it seems suspicious to me. You might wanna send a small team to look into it and see what's up."

Soph's purple-grey eyes grew thoughtful. "Mmm, okay. I'll send a few of the officers I trust and we'll see what it's all about. It can't be a big deal if it's confined to the school."

Kira nodded, taking a sip of her gin. "Mhm. Oh yeah, do you remember that girl I told you about? Or, I should say, man. The man who looked like a woman who turned not to have a penis and thus was a man?" Soph giggled as Kira rolled her eyes. "Well anyway, I passed by his house earlier today and I noticed his door was open. There was this small stuffed Tofu with a Libra symbol on it on his doorstep smiling at me. It hasn't been twenty-four hours yet, so I know it can't be filed as a missing persons report but can you keep an eye out for me?"

Soph tried to contain her giggles.

"... I'm going to take that as a yes."

-

And so the small group of NCPD officers entered the school, wondering what they would find...

(OOC: Feel free to add your own creepy elements and let your characters be spooked out! This is supposed to be a fun event, so don't be too serious!)

"Officer Iwasawa. Good to see another comrade out here. Nobuo Hasegawa." He greeted her. Nobuo put on a light grin, glad that he would be here with support. Not much later, even Nobuo's partner appeared on the scene. The mysterious Ria Honjo, who had more skeletons in her closet than any man or woman Nobuo could imagine. He had to keep a close eye on her--she didn't need more going wrong in her life.

Nobuo chuckled as his nerves were calming more and more, taking a step towards Ria. "Ria! Yeah, I got a call to come out here. If it weren't for that, I'd be out there trick-or-treating with my little angel." The pride of a father glimmered in Nobuo's eyes. He stuck his thumbs between his pants and his belt, resting his palms nicely on his waist. His smile hollowed out momentarily, quickly shifting his gaze back and forth between Ria and Yui.

"Officer Iwasawa, this is Officer Honjo--she's my partner. Seems a bit weird for an old guy like me to be paired with--"

Then a scream cracked the cool night sky. A call that only Nobuo knew... that only Nobuo got to hear. A sweet voice, as tiny as its creator, called out 'Papa!' with an alarming and urgent tone. The old man's eyes awakened, his hands quickly scrambled to his side where his small arm lay.

"Ayame!?" he blurted, surprised at the sound of himself calling out his daughter's name. This was hardly the place to call out to her. This was hardly the place to see her. And yet here they were.

He took only a step forward until a large thud caused him to hold still. A menacing beast emerged, and from its ugliness, more ugly things emerged. What? What?!

"Move!" Nobuo shouted, shoving Ria towards the rear of his vehicle, and ran the opposite way, grabbing Officer Iwasawa's hand. He sprinted while dragging the officer, running past into the cover of a small shed. The acid plopped onto Nobuo's car, the sharp hissing noise slowly doing away with the paint job of his squad car.

"What the hell is that!?" the man shouted over the sharp grinding of his vehicle.

"Ria! You okay?" His hand reached for his pistol, and he readied it with the safety off. "Shit shit shit."

Without a single moment of hesitation, Nobuo peeked out from cover and let loose several rounds at the beasts.

He needed to get inside, at all costs.

"Good meeting you Officer Hasegawa." She bowed her head slightly

When the next officer came up and spoke Nobuo, Yui stood up and stepped back. Partner's, very nice. Unfortunately for her, Peter wouldn't be called in on this one, he was already on an assignment that night leaving Yui to herself. Yui nodded her head once Nobuo introduced his his partner to her, she was getting ready to greet her, when a loud scream came from the shadows. Without freaking out, Yui put her hand onto her gun that was holstered on her hip and looked around. It wasn't long after, Nobuo screamed out a name. She couldn't see anything really, so how would he assume..? It didn't matter, Yui just needed to keep her eyes peeled.

It wasn't to long after the scream when a blast of what looked like small needles came huddling towards all three of them. Before Yui could make an attempt to move herself, her hand was grabbed by Nobuo, and dragged behind the car. This is why Yui was better at long ranged with no one near her, the fact he took her and put her into cover didn't bother her, just that Yui hated not being in control of her own actions. Laying her back against the car, knelled down next to Nobuo she took a deep breath and let it go. Taking out her gun and gripping it in her hand she turned to look at Rai to see if she was alright. Then back to Nobuo.

"Officer Hasegawa, you need to calm down." Yui tried to settle his mind, he was all over the place. Screaming wasn't going to help the situation, and getting worked up like he was, was only going to cause mistakes to happen. Her time in the military taught her to keep a cool head. Being a sniper told her to always be patient and go in when the time is right. She peeked her head out to see four ugly ass, dancing spiders. Watching as a one spat a thing of venom straight at the car. Ducking quickly, she rested her head against the car.

He was extremely upset, he shot bullets without even the slightest idea of where they might go. That name, it must mean something big to him...Yui looked around, there was a car parked outside that was right behind the cop car. Taking a stance she darted towards the car and rolled into a crouched position. Barely getting missed by the shots being thrown in their direction.

Yui gripped her gun and took a deep breath. Fuck these spider things. Closing her eyes she concentrated, her hands moving ever so slightly as she turned her body around and stood up.

She fired four shots. Boom. Boom. Boom. Boom. Her hyperkinetics kicked in and line four shots to the spiders heads.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

The spiders shrieked in vain as bits of their arthropod flesh was torn apart, scattering crescents of venom mixed with internal fluid. The Tofu plush atop the spider huffed and seemed to disappear into the thin air. The spiders scrambled around aimlessly, the smaller ones diving headfirst into the ground, their long legs dangling helplessly in the air. The larder spider hit the ground, skittering to one side, its mouth open in a silent scream.

One second passed before the explosion.

The spider bodies suddenly blew up, expending clouds of internals organs into the air, raining down on the police officers. Then came the smoke - the white smoke that seemed to pour out and rush towards them, thick and curling and smelling sickening sweet like highly processed maple syrup. By now the officers must have noticed the commotion above the school - the large CRUNCH of the door, accompanied by long shadows of the dancing aliens that looked more like wraiths about the jump down from the sky.

And then came the whispers from the smoke, the cries. Moaning. The windows of the school rattled, cries of children could be heard from the inside. And the smoke... the smoke was threatening to make the officers faint from it's overwhelming sweetness. It lingered around the outside of the school, snaking toward the shed Nobuo was in.

--

Meanwhile, upstairs one of the aliens stopped as it reached the mop. It poked the mop with its toe (did it even have toes) before it picked it up and began waving it just out of Pyramid Head's reach, smiling and giggling. Yeah. That's right. It was giggling.

Then the other aliens began to do the can-can dance in a semicircle around Pyramid Head and the door, accompanied by riveting guitar riffs and extra deep bass. Aww yeaaaah.

Poor Pyramid Head.

--

In other news, the Tofu had jumped out of Jo's mouth and began to bop her on the head repeatedly, saying in its high-pitched voice, "La-la-la, la-la-la~ Will anyone save our little princess? What should I send next?"

The Tofu giggled.

"The zombies?"

This was... weird. It was the twilight zone.

But Nobuo needed to press on. He didn't heed officer Iwasawa's warning. He was too distracted by the blood and guts falling in strange plopping and spatting sounds around them. Worst of all, the old man's uniform was ruined. Never mind the life-threatening situation of the monsters appearing. Never mind the idea that their acidic blood would tear through skin and bone. Nobuo Hasegawa was upset because his freshly cleaned uniform was covered in guts. The satisfying explosion of the spiders helped calm him down, and it wasn't so bad that the thick white smoke was reminiscent of pancakes in the morning.

"What the hell was that?" the old man thought aloud, slowly revealing himself from cover. His eyes searched for the other officer at the scene.

"Iwasawa! You still alive? Officer Iwasawa!"

There was a sense of urgency in his voice, however. He needed to go inside and figure out where those cries of children originated from...

...and whether or not his daughter Ayame was in there.

Not surprising she hit all four of the spiders, her ability really did come in handy with things like this. Though, she wasn’t expecting them to BLOW THE FUCK UP! As they exploded in front of her, showering over acid and nasty spider parts she was in some trouble. Taking quickly to her heels she began moving towards the shed were Officer Hasegawa was still behind cover. It was just above her, the guts and acid of those damn things. God, she imagined all of that falling on her body, melting through her clothing and down into her skin. Burning it through the muscle and down to the bone, it made Yui freak out a bit inside.

Taking a risky dive behind the shed she tucked her head down and rolled to safety. Breathing heavily, she sat up on her knees and looked around her body. Making sure she was alright, a couple of acid spots had ripped through her uniform, but nothing major like Officer Hasegawa’s was. His clothing was torn, and she turned her head away to give him some respect. Trying not to stare she stood up and brushed herself off. She did damage to herself, oddly enough, when she rolled she slide a few inches on her knee, slicing open her pants and gave her a nice gash to her knee cap. Yui would suck it up for now, there could be people in the building ahead and Hasegawa seemed to be pretty sure about knowing one of them. 'Ayame...' she thought to herself as she looked at him.

'Could that have been his...' Yui couldn't think of such things, she needed to stay focused. If personal feelings or emotions got in the way, mistakes could happen. She had to stay on track, and keep him from staying there with her.

“Interesting Halloween, Officer Hasegawa, wouldn’t you say?” She spoke as she made her way towards him and stood beside him. Knowing that he needed to get into the building as soon as possible she looked down at him. “Let’s go.” Without hesitation she began running towards the entrance into the abandoned school. Her hand gripped her gun as she looked around, and making sure that there weren’t any other creepy things lurking. She pressed her shoulder to the door and looked at Hasegawa and nodded her head.

“I’ve got your back, sir.” Gesturing with her head to go inside, she waited for follow him in.
