| They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home. Can you survive it? - - PROLOGUE - - The month of October was a bright month for a certain erratic, pink-haired ADD police chief. A lot of people were crazy about Christmas, Valentine's Day, and the start of summer but Soph Dokurow as crazy about Halloween. Most of the police officers didn't expect to walk into work on October 1st to find the entire station to be covered in pumpkins, fuzzy bats, black cat decals and more kinds of candy than one could fathom (though no one complained about the candy - and subsequently there was a high amount of police officers visiting the dentist in the month of October). Sleepy and coffee-deprived as they were, most of the officers didn't seem too surprised that Soph had dressed up for work. What they were surprised about was how many costumes Soph Dokuro seemed to have in her closet. Badass, meanwhile, assured everyone that he "wasn't going to have any of that and if anyone dared to get him a costume, hands will be bitten off without leave pay." The pink-haired chief bounced around the station all month dressed as a black cat (no Mohawk), a witch (oh, the irony!), an M&M (mmm, chocolate), a fencer with a rapier ("I long for a worthy opponent!" *jab!jab!*), a fairy with purple wings (and maybe dressed up as the little girl with the large hat too?), a stewardess (whee, planes!), a fluffy cloud (which turned out to be the easiest costume ever), a little pink-haired girl wandering the station asking, "Have you seen my bear Tibbers?" and so on... (No, I didn't deliberately take inspiration from League of Legends. Okay. Maybe. Yes. IT'S WHAT I DO IN MY FREE TIME OKAY?!) It'd been a long summer for the NCPD, and now Soph was ready to cheer everyone up again. She worked hard, but made time for her annual visit back home to see her parents. Her mother and father were doing well, despite her father having blown up another section of the house ("I've just decided that it's bound to happen and have given up trying to control him," her mother said with a sigh). Badass went along as well, being his usual, sarcastic, off-putting self. Occasionally Soph went out to talk with her close friend Kira Mendas. The pink-haired woman usually found Kira to be warm and friendly in her own way, and the small detail that Soph had thrown Kira's boyfriend in jail didn't seem to be too big of a deal. The black-haired woman not only talked about what she had seen on the streets recently, but also mentioned that Soph had been looking less stressed lately, and that it was nice to see that she wasn't overworking herself. Sometimes they would have drinks and chat, go shopping, or just visit an arcade and shoot pixels of monsters. If only actual police work was so easy. One day, Kira was telling Soph about one of the abandoned schools in West Jinsei. As Kira nursed her gin, her cerulean eyes grew curious as she spoke about it. She mentioned how kids these days would visit the school on a dare, or just for fun, but would come running out saying the school was haunted or something like that. Personally, Kira would suspect drugs, but so many people where talking about dancing pumpkins and skeletons trying to strangle them that unless this was a collective hallucination, drugs wouldn't be the culprit. "It's pretty much the same old spooky stuff," Kira continued. "Ghosts, snakes, spiders, pumpkins, cats, traces of flying objects. Like Paranormal Activity on crack. It's not normally a police thing to look into I guess, but even most gangsters stay away from the school now, so it seems suspicious to me. You might wanna send a small team to look into it and see what's up." Soph's purple-grey eyes grew thoughtful. "Mmm, okay. I'll send a few of the officers I trust and we'll see what it's all about. It can't be a big deal if it's confined to the school." Kira nodded, taking a sip of her gin. "Mhm. Oh yeah, do you remember that girl I told you about? Or, I should say, man. The man who looked like a woman who turned not to have a penis and thus was a man?" Soph giggled as Kira rolled her eyes. "Well anyway, I passed by his house earlier today and I noticed his door was open. There was this small stuffed Tofu with a Libra symbol on it on his doorstep smiling at me. It hasn't been twenty-four hours yet, so I know it can't be filed as a missing persons report but can you keep an eye out for me?" Soph tried to contain her giggles. "... I'm going to take that as a yes." - And so the small group of NCPD officers entered the school, wondering what they would find... (OOC: Feel free to add your own creepy elements and let your characters be spooked out! This is supposed to be a fun event, so don't be too serious!) |

Jesus Christ on a cracker, was this school dirty! It had honestly been awhile since Pyramid Head stepped foot in a school building since he left Shinya. Or was it Hyakuji? Whatever. Anyway, once Pyramid Head took a few steps on the grungy floors, memories of his old stomping ground came back to him. Sweeping the floors and trying to get those fire summoner's stains off the tile. Fixing the toilets in the boy's bathroom and getting all the slime out the piping. (What were they doing in there?) And dusting the karate classrooms and taking away the scraps of furniture destroyed in duels. It was just like his job now -- er, was his job. He's still on shaky ground with the Police Departement. They weren't too pleased when his "johnson rod" penetrated a rave girl's abdomen not too long ago. While avoiding police contact, he still tried to provide his janitorial duties wherever he could, especially at crime scenes. You wouldn't believe the kind of fingerprints and blood people leave behind. Cops shouldn't have to deal with that filth! A clean crime scene is next to godliness. Armed with a mop, bucket, and feather duster, Pyramid Head was determined to make this place look like new. Baaaaabaaaaaa~ The heck was that? Pyramid Head turned around. The abandoned school was quite abandon! It must be the wind or something. Baaaaaabaaaaabaaaaaaaaaar~ Pyramid Head turned around again, surveying the empty hallway. Maybe there are some ruffians here, playing some pranks or something. Having once been a school janitor, he was used to immature teens vandalizing school property or trying to trick him. But he couldn't hear any footsteps accompanying the noise, sounds of scurrying kids running away before getting caught. Actually, beyond the aforementioned creepy sounds, everything around an unsettling silence. Pyramid Head shrugged it off and moved further down the hallway. Barannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn~ Now Pyramid Head was very creeped out. However, he remembered this TV show on the Discovery Channel he watched last week. On the show, a scientist remarked how in areas with little light and no sound such as a cave deep within the Earth, the sensory deprivation can cause someone to "fabricate" noises in their head. The absence of the bustling noises from Niwa in an area devoid of people is possibly playing tricks on his mind. (And Hermann hasn't showed up in quite awhile too.) Guarded with this factoid, he immediately set down the bucket, sloshed his mop around in the water, and started wiping the floors frantically to take his mind off the strange sounds. And yet, he could still hear it.... Baaa~ baaa~ baaa~ Baaa~ barrr~ barannn~ And then he started to recognize the words being moaned throughout the hallways... Baa~ baa~ baa~ Baa~ barr~ barann~ No... It couldn't be... NO. The mop stopped, Pyramid Head frozen. BABABA BA BARBARA ANN~ BARBARA ANNNNNNN~ TAKE MY HANNNNDDDDD~ YOU GOT ME ROCKIN' AND A-ROLLIN'~ ROCKIN' AND A-REELIN'~ BARBARA ANN~ BABABA BA BARBARA ANNNN~ Mother. Of. God. It was a dark and creepy night. People always wonder if ghosts exist. Are they real? Some assume that you only see a ghost because you secretly want to, that your mind creates these ethereal images and it's all in your head. Though things like the supernatural were often things of fiction. They can't be real, they're only in the mythos of civilizations past and scary writers in the present. But what if there was more beyond that? In the city of Niwa, anything was possible. A century ago if you told a man you could kill men by the hundreds, shoot fireballs from your arse, and bolts of lightning from your eyes, he wouldn't believe a single word you said. In Niwa, there's probably some Scottish man out there doing all that -- at once. In a school like this, on Hallow's Eve, all abandoned and spookylike, at nighttime, anything could happen. The cutest things can be Tiny Masters of EVIL The sound of a muffled sub could be heard reverberating the hallways. Was this one of the ghostly maidens that stalked the school that was sacrificed by the miners to appease the gods when their ores grew thin? Was this a ghastly teacher that weeped for a student that got fatally injured in one car accident? The glow of the moon shone through one of the windows on the second floor of the school. There was an orange glow as the light bounced and danced around the orange hair of a siting figure whose back was to the moon. Her feminine face could be seen, gagged with what looked like a plush toy. A cubed plush toy. A Tofu? This woman was sitting down, tied securely to a chair in her ghostly blue dress that. Her attire looked almost ethereal and quite spooky the way the moon reflected off of it. A single tofu with a yellow star on its head sat on her lap. It bore no malicious appearance. It simply smiled with its stitched smile and stared at the doorway. More Tofus littered the classroom haphazardly, placed in random locations -- each one a different color to represent the zodiac. A thick layer of dust covered the floor, and no footsteps could be seen in the classroom at all. It was as if this all just happened -- or were they all ghosts? OoOOooOoooo~ |

It was way too late to do this, but this was one of the duties of a police officer. It didn't matter if this were Tokyo or some village. Meta human presence or not, Niwa needed cops on nights like these. And so, officer NOBUO HASEGAWA answered the call. His squad car rolled slowly toward the front gates of the abandoned school. To think that this decrepit place was once teeming with teenagers from all across the area... how scary, the man thought. The warm yellow lights of the squad car washed past the cold black gates, over the layers of dried leaves of autumn, and flashed upon the cracked, dirty, and heavily graffiti-ridden place. This was a monument of the area of West Jinsei. A place once seen as the thick and lavish with wealth, now turned into a poverty-ruled land. The car's brakes screeched slowly to a halt, and the lights turned off. Darkness consumed the area once again--except for something inside. "It's just a couple of kids. That's just it, Old Man." Nobuo said to himself, subduing his imagination and creativity from taking over. Holidays like Halloween were petrifying for police officers in Niwa. Those things you saw in the movies, those monsters you dreamed about in nightmares; they came to life in a city like Niwa. The police officers back at the station were feeling festive too, pinning cold cases of unsolved murders and kidnappings from decades ago. It was all in good fun--as fun as a reminder of the department's failings could be. The man let out an uneasy sigh, taking a single step from his vehicle. He left the flashing blue and red lights on, as a way to scare off the youngsters that were probably horseplaying inside. He took hold of his flashlight--fully charged--and rested his fingertips on the handle of his sidearm. West Jinsei just didn't feel safe anymore, not even for an officer. He reached for his radio on his upper left chest and listened intently. Surely, some form of backup was due to arrive. Otherwise, the old man would have to jump into the empty colossus alone. That might give him a few more gray hairs than he wanted. |

Yui had been called last minute to head over to the abandoned school, another one of 'those' cases she assumed. Last time she had been called here it was for a noise complaint, and now it was because of some stupid ghost story. The thought really did irritate Yui, that her talents were being wasted on such bullshit rumors. As she pulled up to the school on her bike, there was already a squad car sitting in front with his lights rolling. She came to a stop and kicked down the kickstand on her bike, and leaning it towards the curb. It was just as bad as she left it the other day, though something stood out that night that hadn't the other night. The feeling was cold, as if something were truly in there that didn't belong in this world. Halloween was not Yui's favorite holiday, she had enjoyed it as a child of course. Who didn't right? Now that she was older she sees that its just another obnoxious day of the year. A holiday that people began to take advantage of; to dress like little sluts, scare kids almost to the point of future mental harm, and to give cops a hard time. She heard back in the states that people would actually dress up like military officials, such a disgrace. Her loft apartment would only serve as a candy hand out. Yui wouldn't decorate anything, she found it a bit distasteful to just put up something, then to take it down a week later. It was the same way with the police station, Yui already hated the idea of someone possibly asking her to take all that down. It looked nice; but a police station wasn't some play house. She wouldn't argue, since she was still so new to Niwa, but that's why she was eager to get out of the office and out on the streets. Removing her helmet, she shook her hair free from the trap and ruffled her hands throughout her blond hair. Her outfit was that of a off duty cop, she wore tight black jeans that wrapped all the way down her long legs. Her boots had them cuffs on her pants tucked under, they looked like combat boots which reached just about half way up her calf. Yui's shirt was just like any other shirt she wore, it was a light tan button down, that had a few buttons undone. The shirt was tucked into her pants, and her sleeves were rolled up about quarter length. She held the helmet under her arm as she made her way towards the cop car that was parked outside the abandoned school and knocked on the window. She leaned up a bit and tapped on her badge that was clipped to her pants and backed away from the window a bit. "Officer Iwasawa, I got called in for this..." She looked over the cop car and cleared her throat. "Assignment as some back up." Her voice as always was very straight forward, no extreme excitement, it had only the tone of someone here to do their job. |

Pyramid Head, tormented by the music of the Beach Boys, ran with his mop down the hall, leaving his bucket and feather duster near the entrance of the first floor hallway. His put his hands over his metal head, trying to block out the noise of the music but to no avail. Up the flight of stairs, he hoped changing floors might stop the music and, to his surprise... it did. Frightened, he looked around frantically: no music. Hmmm... maybe it was a self-fulfilling prophesy. By being afraid of hearing noises, he made up noises in his head. Or maybe the song was so catchy that, after hearing it on the radio earlier that day, Pyramid Head's brain kept playing it over and over again. Goddamn, Beach Boys! Scaring him for no reason with their catchy music.! Pyramid Head shook his fist in the air. Although he was glad that he simply scared himself silly, he didn't have time dwell on it long before when a ghostly sob reverberated in the second-floor hallway. However, thinking this noise was also a figment of his imagination, Pyramid Head shrugged it off and started mopping again. Stupid brain, you're not playing tricks on Pyramid Head this time! Ria Honjo was a patient person. And living in blood and death, there was little that could scare the girl. Except for spiders. Fuck spiders. She could tolerate her aunts and uncles teasing her about getting married, making jabs at family dinners and holidays, poking her ribs and telling her she needed to eat more, get more sleep because she looked too pale, cut her hair a certain way to find a man... She wanted to tell them not to pry but it would be rude to speak to her elders in such a way. She was grateful that having come to Niwa, their presence had been limited to when she took the trip to Tokyo to visit when was expected of her. She glared at her phone when the call came, half tempted to dunk it in the bitter coffee she had nursed all of the heat out of. But that was not what a Honjo would do. She sucked in a small breath, closed her eyes and put the nagging memories to rest. This night would not be like that night. Ria Honjo hated Halloween. Ria scowled inwardly at the festive decorations their cheerful, fearless pink leader had littered the station with, adorning outfits for what seemed like each day of the week, if not more than once a day! Ria would not be so festive. She kept her head down, face in her work, ignoring the hoopla. She did wonder where exactly Soph's 'Tibbers' had gone and when he would be making an appearance. Oh, Hallow's Eve. Those that basked in the dark, truly knew the horrors that lurked in the shadows would not relish in this 'Hallow's Eve.' But now was not the time for wallowing in her own problems. There was a problem at hand. She had her coat on, slipped into her boots and was out the door in a flash. The pranksters up to no good in the abandoned school would fear her wrath, having dragged her from the safety of her abode on such a night for tricks and jokes... Somehow, though, she just knew it would be more than that. She wasn't in Tokyo anymore. She scanned the area, nodding her salutations at fellow officers and found her beloved partner. "Nobuo-san~" She called out to him, walking briskly in his direction. They were an uncanny pair and no doubt Ria freaked him out; he still stayed loyally by her side nonetheless. She hid her morose composure, donning a sly grin and looked toward the building. She had an act to keep up. Her crazy little problems were her own and she would not bother her partner with them. He had enough of his own worries flittering about his head. "They nabbed you too, huh? What has your daughter dressed up as?" |

In the school, it was only Pyramid Head and Miss Jo Nuelos so far. For the lone janitor, it had been relatively uneventful so far, but the school had much more in store for him. Why it was that on this night of all nights the school choose to terrorize the beings nearby remained a question. But somehow it knew what those who visited were afraid of and no one was safe from the terrors. Such terrors included what Pyramid Head was about to meet. As the trusty janitor continued mopping, there was a huge burst of sound from one of the classrooms. The door slammed open and a swarm of neon lime green aliens began dancing down the hall, spinning and prancing like nobody's business. One of them held a boom box as the Beach Boys "Barbara Ann" began playing. One of the aliens shimmied down the hallway with a bass guitar, heading straight for Pyramid Head and his mop. Was it... was it going to take his mop?!?!?!?! --- Meanwhile, in Miss Nuelos's classroom, the Tofus began to bounce. In unison. Which wouldn't be that spooky, except that they were controlling everything that was happening in the school... --- Outside, the three officers continued their conversation in relative peace. Surely they would have heard the music in the school, but something was about to preoccupy them. For instance, at several rooms int he school, children's scream began to ring in the air, accompanied by flapping and crackling. One would be able to brush it off, possibly a prank, teenagers having a party... except for the fact that Ayame's little voice pierced the air - "PAPA---!!" That was sure to alarm Nobuo Hasegawa, if not the other officers. Well, things couldn't get any worse, right? Wrong. From the shadows a huge form thudded to the ground and began advancing to the group of officers, screeching its presence to the officers. Eight yellow eyes, a thick pulsating abdomen and eight hairy, spiny legs that stabbed holes into the ground as it approached. The dead leaves flew around it and stuck to the sticky strings dangling from its spinnerets. Venom splattered against the ground, hissing and leaving burn marks on the dirt. The giant spider screeched again - and out came its babies, just about ten or twenty of them. They began to shriek and sputter, shooting out shots of venom and webbing in haphazard directions. Drunk spiders? Suddenly they began to dance. Aww shiznits. This would be kind of hilarious, except for the fact that the officers were getting poison and sticky stuff shot at them. Ewwwww. |

Oh. My. God. Not only was Pyramid Head wrong -- dead wrong -- about the music, he was being confronted inconveniently by what he feared the most: aliens. Ever since he was a tiny Pyramid Head growing up in the suburbs of Silent Hill, the starry skies frightened him. The thought of not only extraterrestrial beings existing but also attacking the planet was a constant fear for him as a child. You'd think that by the time he became an adult Pyramid Head that these silly phobias would subside. But no: they actually grew stronger. With each year, he learned more and more about space exploration and the most recent Mars Rover's discovery of water on Mars made his fear spark once more. Now, with little green aliens approaching, Pyramid Head froze and faced a monumental choice: should he stay and try to face his fears once and for all, or -- Without any hesitation, he chose to get the fuck outta there! CRUNCH! Unfortunately, of all the directions he picked, he ran into a wall our of frightened desperation. The abandoned school, now deteriorated from weather and neglect, did not have very strong walls and Pyramid Head's, uh, "situation" punctured through. Awkward. To make matters worse, he was stuck. He couldn't seem to budge. Part of the wall evidently collapsed upon impact, squeezing his member with immense pressure. Maybe the mop might help pry him -- Suddenly he realized the mop was no longer in his hands. Frantically looking around, he saw it right where he ran away, strewn across the ground. He started reaching for it, his tally-knackel straining against the wall. Must. Reach. Before. Aliens... |

"Nya ha ha!" The cutest and surprisingly not-annoying falsetto could be heard reverberating throughout the school. The officers would find this sound generated right in front of them. A small white tofu plush with a yellow top and a yellow Libra star could be soon on top of the largest spider. In its little hands were reigns that were wrapped around the spider. It stared at the officers with its stitched eyes and stitched smile, sitting motionlessly on the dancing spider. "I was wondering if you could please die for me?" the Tofu asked amidst the venomous spits from the spiders. It sounded oh so cute and adorable, how could you say no? |
