  • 19 April 2015 -- Niwa is under new management!

Niwa is now under new management as we strive to stand up the the standards of fun and entertaining roleplaying we have so far provided here at Niwa. Today makes the start of a campaign to bring in new members as Head Admin Akaiken and Support Admin Sparky work together to improve and uphold the current face of Niwa and keep us all moving forward!

They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home.

Can you survive it?

This sucked.

Shinji didn’t like the way this plan was moving at all, with him on the sidelines trying to play this entire thing both from outside and from within. Standing inside the Cerberus HQ with his hands in the pockets of his pants, his eyes darted around the room and back over to the manila folder that he had brought with him this evening, in preparation for what he was about to do as well as what he planned on telling these people he’d selected once they showed up. Shinji could have easily used some of his Faction II members, but he needed something more than just eyes and ears if he wanted this whole thing to be finished as soon as possible.

Even without their skill set, it was always better to work with people to get things done rather than do it alone. In this case, there was too much to be done in such a short amount of time. Shinji patiently waited inside the HQ, dressed in his black dress shirt and black slacks, waiting for the people he contacted to arrive. Hopefully, they would be willing…

Receiving an invitation from the one of the leaders about an upcoming mission, the silent assassin/ninja, known as Kuei, hopped from building to building as he headed for the HQ of Cerberus. Normally, he wouldn't have accepted, due to the fact that he had other things on his mind, like searching Alice, the vampire who had not only killed his master, but also shamed and dishonored him. He had tracked her down to this city, but she had so far alluded him. But he knew that he had to be patient. She would turn up eventually. Despite this city's size, it wasn't as big as it looked and there were only so many places one could hide or end up at. He knew someday soon he would track her down, and he knew exactly what he would do when he found her...

But that was a story for another time. As he hopped from rooftop to rooftop, he could see the HQ quickly approaching. He wondered why the place could actually be called an HQ. It was simply the basement of an abandoned factory that the group had managed to find. And what's more, the place seemed quite repulsive, really. No one in their right mind would venture there, unless it was out of pure curiosity, which would end up getting them hurt or worse. But it wasn't up to Kuei to complain. After all, he wasn't one of the leaders, so any sort of suggestions or the like was out of his hands. And even if it wasn't, Kuei still wouldn't have said anything. Complaints and the like were not befitting of a ninja.

He landed on his feet near the door to the basement and wondered what good could come from opening it. The last time he was here was the first time. The only thing that had transpired was nothing more than arguments and petty displays of bravado. Thinking back on it was almost enough to make Kuei turn back around and head back to his apartment building. But realizing that it would have been a waste of time to come otherwise, he opened the door and prepared for the worst.

He looked inside and saw that the place was empty, save for one person. Kuei recognized him as one of the people who was at the last meeting. Figuring that he was who had called them here, Kuei jumped from the stairs and landed on his feet. He said nothing to the individual and silently stood by a wall, ready for whatever was the reason for being called here. He sighed, as he realized he was the first one here. He hated being early...

Amber landed without a sound, hip cocked slightly as she gazed up at the old toy factory. blue eyes taking in the area carefully. She sighed, shrugging her jacket on a little more, getting it to rest better on her shoulders. Maybe the white tank top hadn't been a good idea, and certainly not with the cut-up, frayed-and-faded jeans. The leather jacket did help quite a bit, covering her shoulders and arms nicely, though she felt no real need to zip the jacket up the front, maybe if the winds got any worse, though it wasn't as if she couldn't manipulate them away from her.

Her sneakers scuffed at the ground a bit, debating what was going to happen in the headquarters for Cerberus. After all, it wasn't all-too often she got called in at such an hour for such a secret kind of project, what in the hells could it be? More than that, she wasn't even entirely clear on who had summoned her here. She would definitely be finding out, though.

Moving a hand up and running her fingers through her blonde hair, she took a breath and another look around, before moving to the door. With a swipe of her Cerberus key, she was in the building. Down the hallway, she found the door leading to the basement - another swift movement of her hand and wrist, and she had unlocked that door. She hesitated here, however, and considered who or what might be inside.

It didn't matter - if it was hostile, she'd fight or take flight, no big deal. Maybe she was a little paranoid.

Stepping into the room, those blue eyes focused immediately on the two present figures: Shinji Ito, Faction II's leader, who she'd only seen about here and there and hadn't held much conversation with, actually; and then there was another male, who she didn't recognize at all, didn't even know his name. She looked from one to the other, curiously, before moving further into the room, letting the door slide shut behind her. She pulled up a chair, sitting herself down in it and crossing one leg over the other, sitting where she could see both men clearly.

"So is the party all here? What's this about, anyway...?"

She wasn't one to really keep her mouth shut when she was curious of something.

Truth be told, Hummingbird did not feel like the others belonging to Faction III. One blaringly obvious reason was that she was frankly a dewb. Look at her right now. She'd shown up to the meeting with Faction leader Shini in a bunny hood and a white-stockings-and-overalls combination.

"So is the party all here? What's this about, anyway...?" she'd heard Hawk's voice resonate behind the door.

'dammint' she mouthed silently with closed eyes and a defeated look about her. Swallowing a large calming breath, she pushed the door open. Her teal twintails fell below her waist as she sheepishly bowed upon entering the meeting room, acknowledging everyone already there. Silently but swiftly, she tip toed behind the chair Hawk sat oh-so-sexily at, and placed both her trembling hands on the back rest.

Her eyes snapped to the manila folders for the first time and her heart raced. Was it already time for a mission? Oh boy, the first mission for the Birds team---- ah, team bravo ---- and this.... ninja? ... probably a ninja. Sayuri tried not to make eye contact with him for too long.

Everyone had come. Excellent.

Watching as Kuei entered silently, Shinji nodded towards the man but did not speak yet. Shinji wanted everybody else he called here before he got down to it, trying to make sure that everything was in place before he decided to push forward. Amber followed suit behind him, but she at least attempted to be a little more vocal about this entire meeting.

"So is the party all here? What's this about, anyway...?"

"I'll tell you all in a minute, I'm just waiting on one more person to ar-"

And that's when the last person entered the headquarters, none other than the very small but very adorable hummingbird dressed up mostly as...a rabbit? Shinji didn't comment on the outfit, but it definitely caught his attention for more than just a fleeting second. He wondered to himself why exactly a young lady like this called herself Hummingbird, while dressing like a rabbit, and speaking like a robot. At least now, Shinji was better prepared to go forward with his meeting.

"Thank you all for coming. Before I get to what I'd like us to do, I should inform all of you about what's transpiring within the group."

Having said that, Shinji made his way back to the manila folder, opening the folder to the front page where several documents were printed onto paper while a small three inch by six inch photograph of an older man's face sat rested atop what looked like a personeel file. Of course, there was much more to the file than just who was pictured at the top, but Shinji needed to get to the older man before he got to anything else.

"Nathan, the faction leader for all three of you, is about to be arrested in connection to a meth lab explosion which killed six people, one of them being an undercover police officer. Nathan is going into police custody voluntarily, and we have no reason to fear the possibility that he might turn on us. However, almost as soon as he's been through the booking process at the NCPD Headquarters, he's being sent off to the Osore Island Penitentiary. The reason why he's going directly there, instead of spending time within the jail cells guarded by the police..."

Shinji took a deep breath, almost hesitant about what he was about to say next.

"...is because he's working with the police on a mission inside the prison."

Amber looked up, glancing behind her to see Hummingbird there suddenly, and flashed a playful grin at the girl in a bunny hoodie. She could practically feel the aura of nervousness running off her, that was for sure, but it took only a second for her to realize it before Hawk shifted slightly in her chair, reaching one arm around the back of it almost awkwardly and hugging it around Sayuri's waist just for a moment, just to reassure her that no matter what Shinji said, she'd make sure the girl was alright throughout it. After that, she turned her body and attention back to Shinji's direction, listening as he started to speak.

'Nathan, the faction leader for all three of you, is about to be arrested in connection to a meth lab explosion...'

Fuck.

Amber went a bit pale, only more so as Shinji continued to explain that one of the deceased had been an undercover officer. Goddammit, Lucien... She made a mental note to go bitch at him about it, because the fact of the matter was that the explosion in question was caused by him, the officer was dead because of him, and now Nathan was taking the fall in his place because he'd acted too quickly, hadn't checked all his details, and now look what happened. For now, though, she had to sit and hear Shinji out.

But now he was talking about a mission Nathan had, himself, involving the police. Working with them? Well, they were a group of vigilantes, not superheroes... Working with the police didn't seem so entirely out of the box. But why on Osore Island? What the hell had the police lost control of there?

"So, at the risk of sounding like an impatient bitch... Where do we come into things? I don't even want to ask why Nathan's taking the fall for the meth lab, but I am curious what he's doing for the poice though I don't see where we," she made a quick gesture about the room with a flick of her wrist, "come into play."

Kuei stood by one of the walls with his arms folded and his eyes closed, as he silently meditated. It was the only sensible thing to do before this meeting took place. It seemed that he was waiting for everyone to arrive. Kuei wondered himself how many people would be on this mission. Judging by all the secrecy, it would probably only be a few, at least that's what Kuei hoped for. He never did like working in groups. He was a lone wolf, preferring to work by himself. Don't misunderstand him, though. If he has to work in groups, then he will, and he has nothing against the person or people he is partnered with. He also knows how to take orders really well. It's just that in groups, he can't function to the best of his ability.

As he waited for everyone, Kuei discreetly eyed the man who had called him there. As stated before, he recognized the man from the first meeting of Cerberus. He was one of the leaders, from what Kuei could tell. From the way the man portrayed himself, he could see that he had the utmost respect for himself. From his facial features, it could be seen that he was of a mixed heritage; possibly American and Japanese. From what the folder on the desk symbolized, it seemed that he was well-informed. He looked intelligent, but he had an air about him. All in all, he seemed like an alright individual, which was rare to find in this city.

Kuei looked up as the door to the basement opened, showing a young woman. Like the leader, Kuei discreetly eyed her. From the way she was dressed, it seemed that she didn't give enough thought to her appearance. Despite that, he had to admit that she was quite attractive, but she wasn't his type, unfortunately. He could see that she seemed to be generally carefree and honest. He looked as she sat down on a chair, waiting for the meeting to start. Judging from her question, he could see that she was headstrong, which was both good and bad in some cases.

Seeing nothing interesting, Kuei again closed his eyes. He opened them about a moment later as he heard the door to the basement open once more. Though he didn't show any emotion or had any expression on his face when he saw her, the person who walked in the door nearly made Kuei cringe at her. Her entire attire was very... unusual. She was very short, yet this was understandable due to how young she looked. He looked at how she walked behind the other woman's chair, and stood behind her. Only word came to Kuei's mind as he thought of this girl: erratic. There was no other word to describe her, in his book.

Kuei was ready to resume his meditation, but stopped as the leader began speaking, signaling the start of the meeting. He listened as the leader spoke, but his face didn't change, as usual. As he finished, Kuei did nothing. The petty politics of this organization meant little to him. He listened as the young woman spoke again. He felt himself frowning at this woman, but was thankful his mask was able to shield it. Her behavior and words did not sit well with Kuei, but he did have to agree with part of her statement. What did this have to do with us? Were they expected to rescue their leader? If so, then their thoughts of loyalty on this organization were highly overestimated. Kuei respected his leader and his opinions, but not enough to go blindly rescuing him, especially from the corrupt police. He looked back at the leader, waiting for him to continue.

Being stroked by Hawk had the sort of calming affect that the team leader had hoped to acheive from Sayuri, who eventually glanced down at the Aeromancer and smiled brightly.

Of course, this grin was wiped clean off her face once Shini began his breifing.

Nathan? ... That big ol' hunk they go around calling Pride??? He was going to some kind of a jail?! Thats the first she was hearing of this. Well, that much was apparent from the way her eyes widened.

"Oh my gosh. . ." she uttered with a hint of concern.

When Amber spoke, Sayuri sidestepped quickly, so that she could be seen clearly by the others.

". . ." but she lost the nerve to speak as soon as she felt eyes on her. Sayuri really had nothing to say. At the moment, she decided it would be best to be all ears.

"You three come in to play because while I have my doubts about the loyalties of Nathan's allies within the department, information that I've gathered shows that there may be something credible to the threat within the prison. All the information I've gathered so far suggests that somebody within the prison is using their influence to kill prisoners inside the compound, as well as brutally beat and maim them. I personally can not think of any reason why there would be as huge of a spike in these sorts of crimes as there are now, but there's definitely a noticeable pattern that suggests something isn't right on that island.

"I don't expect any of you to make a trip to the island any time soon, nor would I ever want any of you to. I selected each of you to show up here because what I'm looking for requires us to look into a select number of people who are either dangerous on their own or have connections to dangerous people inside and outside of the city. In dealing with these people, I needed to make sure that I've selected people that are both physically and mentally prepared for whatever danger may be thrown their way in the heat of the moment. Before I tell you what I would need from you, I need to make sure that I would have your full cooperation and discretion on all of these matters going in."

Shinji waited patiently before he would go into his briefing, wondering what would spring from their cooperation. Shinji didn't have much doubt about where Amber's decision would lie, but had more than his fair share of doubt about Kuei's involvement in this operation. Shinji didn't pick him because he was a team player, but rather because of his physical skill set and his ability to sneak around undetected when he needed to. Shifting his eyes between Kuei, Sayuri, and finally resting on Amber, he waited for all three of them to agree to go forward or back out.

Amber sat back a bit, watching Shinji and listening to Faction II's leader very carefully, blue eyes focused entirely on one subject for once. Her leg was twitching a little, bouncing up and down from where she currently sat, not in impatience but in a pre-conceived rush. She had no doubts that Nathan could handle himself just fine, regardless of what was going on on that island and in that prison. The man wasn't stupid, and he was a tank of a meta, he'd be just fine unless, in an off-chance, there was someone that was literally a tank, or a Transformer of some nature. Even then, she figured she might still be worried more about the literal tank losing its life to Nathan.

Still, what Shinji had in mind was not to get sent off and provide back-up; no, if it ever came to that, the Sins would probably be sent in before anyone else, at least that's how she figured it at least. Her mind was racing at an almost dizzying rate, and by the time Shinji finished, she nodded. She couldn't speak for Sayuri - she was still new to things, not that Amber was a pro by any amount, but the girl seemed nervous more often than not, and with something like this...

"Well, Shinji, count me in." The statement was made coolly and with a wolfish grin on her lips. "Granted, if this is information gathering for insurance or assurance, why not have your faction gather the information and then send out a contact? Hostile or otherwise, if an altercation turns up, any persons of interest might become useless once rigor mortis sets in, y'know? If these folks are so dangerous, or befriending dangerous people, they might be expecting something, to boot, but they'll probably be expecting something on-tier with the Sins, not those of us who are safe enough in the middleground for you to have contacted. I'm not complaining, a challenge is always fun, but I'm just curious why you chose us, specifically." Still, she wasn't going to back out of it, certainly not that easily, but her mentality was, currently, to make sure Sayuri didn't get in over her head, without making it too obvious where her concerns lie.
