Niwa's Recent News
  • 19 April 2015 -- Niwa is under new management!

Niwa is now under new management as we strive to stand up the the standards of fun and entertaining roleplaying we have so far provided here at Niwa. Today makes the start of a campaign to bring in new members as Head Admin Akaiken and Support Admin Sparky work together to improve and uphold the current face of Niwa and keep us all moving forward!

They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home.

Can you survive it?

2306 hours. Thursday.
City of Niwa. Downtown. The Shit.
54 minutes remain.

Alexander 'Gabe' Walker
The guitar was dying down - a few slow, strummed chords on that beat-up old Breedlove acoustic that looked as old as the man it was strapped around. The Shit had gone through a few revisions in the last few months, since the brawl that blew out half of the south wall. It now included a stage - which the man, and a few local musicians who decided to play along with him - was on now. It seemed to fit The Current Theme of The Shit; Cowboys! - especially since the man on the stage was a wayward Country Music Star back in the States; 'Gabe Walker'. Why wasn't he performing any of his own songs? Well, seemed like a decent night for some classics, some cover; and as he strummed the strings again, he let out the last few lines of Johnny Cash's The Man Comes Around [Shoutout to Craze for the song]

"And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts.
And I looked, and behold a pale horse,
and his name that sat on him was Death,
and hell followed with him."

Declan R. C. Valus
You can say that again...
More people than you might think have met Death, the Grim Reaper, or as Declan called his former boss, Bones. Then again, fingering the childs bracelet at his wrist, there was a time when his daughter called the shapeshifting horseman 'Grampa', but those days were over. These days, the NCPD's Consulting Detective spent most of his time either solving cases or solving sobriety. He was getting exceptionally better at the latter. Hearing that his ex-wife was back in town and working on her cafe's again. Fine with him, really. She wasn't coming around to remind him of the curves he lost or remind him why there was a cane at his side. Speaking of curves, he hadn't seen much of Kira lately, either. Sitting at the bar he couldn't quite remember who he was just talking to, or why the color combination of clothes in front of him changed, but the rum was good. Reminded him of old days - surfing the cosmos, weaving through time - and the power - but now he was just an old, cranky man with delusions of grandeur.
But hell, if he didn't tell funny stories. Maybe it was the alcohol, or the halfway decent music [that had his good leg tapping], but he found himself telling stories to the person beside him - stories that were too wild to believe.
"So, then..." He laughed, waving his glass in the air. "Loki's still running about with his pants off, Ganesh is just spewing grog everywhere out of that trunk, and Kali - oh, that woman is haaaandsy, believe me - she's got this toga on, that is just the ugliest thing I've ever seen, and me and the Reaper just can't help but laugh - I mean, seriously - right in the retirement home, and no one could see us."
He went on like that for a while. It was bad.

Jonah King
Even the city's District Attorney needs to get out and relax once in a while. Though, as per his usual, he was still in his work clothes - he wasn't really the type to slum, even when he went down to places like The Shit. Seemed a little more... real than those finer establishments in Niwa - no one came to the shit looking to impress anyone. Just some good people [usually] having a good time [hopefully] - But then, when he saw The Tank riding the bull, well... he decided it was time for a change of pace. The District Attorney left for the rest-room [if it could be called that], but a few minutes later, what came out was just your average joe. Features completely nondescript, no one you'd recognize or remember.
One of the perks of being a shapeshifter. You can be anyone.
Though, when Lovena came round, he'd have to tell her who he was.
Gavin

Gavin? The Knight?

Not much to say - he was busy riding the Mechanical Bull - his free hand trying desperately not to spill the drink he had in his hand.

Which was considerably harder to do, seeing as Pyramid Head was at the helm of the controls, and it seemed like he was trying to throw the tank of a man through another wall before the night was out.

So far, Gavin was winning.
Good thing too, he was only going to be a free man for another hour. The text in his pocket - from the Chief, told him he had til midnight. And she was usually pretty damned punctual.

Tick tock.

-
The man on stage started asking for more requests - under the implicit instruction that it be something country.

Peter spotted his partner, Yui, enter the bar. She certainly looked good in casual wear, a huge difference from her battle gear. It looked like she was just here for a good time, so he would not bother her. On record, they didn't know each other very well. Two cops in the same precinct, different divisions, shared a drink once. Their black ops missions were kept a carefully guarded secret, so it was best not to risk appearing to 'rush' the friendship. He hadn't even told Amaya, hell, he hadn't seen the woman in person in over a month. Work had caught up with them both, and the relationship was becoming strained.

Ria's sudden appearance should have startled him, especially since she popped up on his blind side, but he had been expecting her to show up at some point. She was going to drink eh? It looked like Peter would be driving. He was having a simple soda, he knew he had to drive and it wouldn't set a good example for a cop to get a DUI. "Long time no see, I haven't seen you since I was still a rag doll in a wheel chair."

The solemn moment between Axel and Gavin was short lived, Axel had his revolver in the cowboy holster at his hip. It blended in with everyone's fake gun and holster look so it would go unnoticed unless he needed to draw it. "Aye, mate. Don' worry, dey'll get out safe and sound. Now get yer ass back on that bull, teh ladies are rootin' fer yeh."

2255 Hours.
Five Minutes Remain.

Being thrown from the bull again, a force that made the floor shake, The Knight stood up, dusted himself off, and smirked. He'd had his fun; a bit perturbed at the turn-out, but then again; who would be able to show up and watch him get carted off sitting on their hands? At least Soph was kind enough to send two of his favorite officers - He'd visited Peter in the hospital after the events of Center Square, he'd met Ria just after his attack on the Sky Lounge - seemed fitting they'd be the ones here, not just some beat cop who didn't know who he was; they'd do their jobs, but they likely wouldn't enjoy it, either. Peeling his jacket off one of the pegs nearby, he checked that his cigarettes were still there - which was good, if he wasn't getting any for a while. With a nod to P-Head, Axel, and the others, he made his way out the saloon doors of The Shit - as if he were just having a cigarette break from his bull-riding ventures. He made sure to grab the leather bag he'd dropped off near the door and sling it over his shoulder before heading outside - nodding for Ria and Peter to follow him. No need to make a scene inside, it would only make their jobs harder.

Leaning against the wall outside The Shit, he lit up a cigarette; the last one in the pack.
His hands were shaking.
When the two officers stepped outside to join him, he smiled; now that the time was here, he'd started doubting this whole ordeal. It'd been a long three days. Taking the rap for someone under his command acting out of orders, killing a cop. That fell on him - that was fine. But to infiltrate a meta-human prison's underground fighting circuit? The Tank was good in a fire-fight, but...he had no defenses over most meta human abilities. Time would tell.

"Oh, by the way. Got a present for you two." He smirked. "You trust me, right?"

While inhaling, he pulled the flap up off his messenger bag and grabbed a pair of hand-guns, by their barrels, pulling them out slowly, to show them he had zero intention of using them against either officer. "Don't worry; mags are empty."

Still holding them by the barrels, pointing directly into his chest, he split them up, one in each hand, and held them out to the officers. "These are my favorite two pistols. Modified Colts." And they were; custom triggers, flashlight on each one; no suppressors, but they both had nickel-plated compensators at the end of the barrels. He'd given the rest of his arms to The Sins; who better to give his pair of pistols to his favorite crime-fighting duo? The holsters for each were still in his bag.

"Hope you can make better use of them than I can. Won't need 'em for a while." He smirked, taking one last drag off his cigarette and flicking it off into the night. With a sigh, he held up his wrists [after they'd taken their firearms] and smirked. "So who wants to do the honors?"

Yui smiled, gripping his hand and giving it a good shake. He seemed to have already had a few drinks in him, not like she would have much time to judge him. As she downed her drink she turned to the bartender, and gestured for another one. Looking back at Declan, she answered. "It's a pleasure Declan, I should call you perspective Declan from now on, either you are one hell of a stalker or.." She laughed a bit, putting her hand up and moving her hair to the side. Yui rarely got nervous, but she was a bit wiry of how he knew all of this about her. "Or you are just really good at your job. Yes, sniper. I was ranked highest in my squad." She pointed towards her eyes. "Can't get anything past me." She joked.

Looking over her shoulder she looked over at Peter who was being greeted by a friend or fellow co-worker, maybe his girlfriend. She raised her hand and waved at him with a smile. It was good to know that he didn't need to sit next to her whenever they ran into each other randomly. Yui hated being clung too, or at least the feeling of someone being clingy.

Turning back to Declan she leaned her head to the side a bit and sighed. She really hated talking about work things off duty. "Well, I think once I'm done looking down the scope, it'll be time for retirement for me. I don't see myself doing anything but that. It's a true passion of mine." She grinned, her bright smile really showing her commitment and love for what she did. As she finished speaking her second drink came; her last too. She needed to get home that night.

Ria did not relish the drink. She downed it bitterly and watched the minutes tick away. She wondered what she would do if she was in Nathan's shoes. She knocked the drink back with a hiss and slammed it on the counter. She glanced over at Nathan, saw him nod and nudged Peter, "Here we go." She huffed, pushing off the counter, and headed for the door. She nodded at Axel on the way out, her look speaking volumes. She expected Peter flanking her but knew Nathan wasn't going to give them trouble; no doubt he had agreed to this arrangement, for whatever reason. She shoved the door open, having taken her time leisurely strolling out of the run down bar and found him there having a smoke.

She opened her mouth to speak, arms crossed about her chest and found that she had lost her words. But when Nathan spoke up, as if they were continuing a previous conversation, a smile touched her lips, defiant of her stubborn anger. She looked at the guns, cocking a brow and pursed her lips, "We'll hold onto 'em for you." She took the gun from him gingerly, stuffing it into her belt. She let out a soft sigh, reaching to her hip for her cuffs. It was strangely fitting. A wicked grin crept along her features at a memory.

"Remember the first time we met?" Her grin remained and she held up the handcuffs by the links with a finger. She tossed the handcuffs at him and reached for her keys, her smile slowly fading. The patrol car was parked just across the street. She tossed the keys to Peter and crossed the street, strolling toward the car. "You can put them on when we get there for all I care."

Seeing Gavin get thrown through the air was a rare sight indeed, making Peter smirk as he went flying. He gave Yui a simple wave, one you would give a co-worker you only sort of know. Had to keep up appearance until they were seen hanging out more.

He followed the prompt from the walking tank and went outside, not even flinching when he pulled guns out. Even if he didn't have his barrier, Peter trusted the man. He had plenty of chances to try to kill either officer and had proved himself an ally the entire time. Taking the handgun and tucking it away in his jacket he gave a simple nod. "I'm sorry such a fun night has to end on such circumstances, but what you will be doing for the chief is going to save a lot of lives." He leaned in once Ria had tossed Gavin the handcuffs.

"The meta, the one you are covering for, if he goes rogue what is the best way to fight him?" It was a bad question to ask at the time, but he needed to know.

Pyramid Head, knocking Gavin down once more, couldn't believe this time had come. It seemed like only yesterday that Pyramid Head opened up The Shit with lofty dreams of owning a business, only to have Gavin being the sole man holding the business afloat. Like seeing your little child grow up to be an adult overnight, Pyramid Head could feel his empty nest start to form. Who else would take Gavin's place? What will happen to Gavin? When Gavin gets out, will he come back or will he find Jesus and give up alcohol entirely? All these unanswered questions created doubt and fear within Pyramid Head, unsure of what the future held for him and his friend.

By the time this inner monologue ended, he realized Gavin was outside already with a few police officers, about to be cuffed off, and sent away. Pyramid Head glanced at the clock: he had only a few minutes to spare! Quickly, he ran behind the bar and grabbed one of the water coolers he stole from a little league at the nearby park when they weren't looking. It's okay, it was going to serve a larger purpose. Grabbing the most expensive whiskey bottles he could find such as "Whiskers 30-Year Malt", he dumped it all into the water cooler, frantically filling up the rest with ice and soda water. The big finale was almost here and Pyramid Head couldn't miss his cue!

BAM!

Bursting out the door, cooler over his shoulder, Pyramid Head turned around, practically shaking. Where was he -- Oh, there he is! Spotting Gavin, flicking the cigarette away and recieving the hand cuffs, Pyramid Head ran over. With one large motion, Pyramid Head opened up the top of the water and splashed several gallons of smooth, expensive whiskey, ice, and club water on Gavin, soaking him from head to foot.

SLOOOOOSH~

"You've gotta be... Oh, P-Head."

For a moment, all he could do was laugh. He'd be sticky within the next few minutes, sitting in the back of the patrol car, but for right now, it wasn't so bad. Little chilly, but when he arrived at the jail and told him that they could smell alcohol on him, well...it'd make for a hell of a story.
Yes, I was dunked in gallons of scotch by a meat-cleaving janitor.
Right to the psych ward. Well, maybe not; the cops knew PHead.

With a smirk, the tank shook Pyramid's hand, though he was soaked, and looked him in the....sides of his...large face-thing.
"See you soon old man. Make a new rule for people that get arrested in your bar. It'll be fun."

With a breath, he pushed one of the cuffs around his massive wrist; the metal barely making the journey around his flesh, clicking only two notches back inside of itself before it was inconvenient - smiling at his cop-friends, he slapped the other one on his opposite wrist, tightening it the same. Was kind of odd, really; for all the shit he'd done, all the bodies behind him, he'd never been handcuffed before; not that he could remember. He couldn't remember the feel of steel on his flesh before; it brought back no deja vu.
"Well, shall we?"
It was kind of them to let him handcuff himself - guess it was a silent, last-ditch effort to put his fate in his own hands. But a mission was a mission - besides, depending on how well the mission went, how long he was inside, the NCPD may end up owing Cerberus one, down the line; that'd be a nice position to be in.

Making his way to the squad car at the edge of the parking lot, officers holding his arms, he couldn't help but smile. Maybe it wasn't set in yet, maybe it was all a little too surreal; but all he could think of was, I just became a spy. Infiltrate a government building to obtain secrets I shouldn't know and bring 'em down from within? I'm James Fuckin' Bond!
But hey, couldn't hurt to ask.

"You mind if I drive?"

End of Prologue.
Continued in Osore Island Penitentiary.

As Gavin shook Pyramid's hand and got into the squad car, Pyramid Head felt an odd sensation in his stomach. A twisting and turning in his belly. It felt similar to the time he left Silent Hill, like an emptiness grew within him. He was pretty sure if he had eyes, tears would be flowing down his face. Something about Gavin connected with him instantly. Although he wasn't sure if were pit hysically and biologically possible, Pyramid Head felt that Gavin was a sort of son to him. (Adopted son, obviously.)

This churning in his stomach unnerved him. Every time he copulated with another person/inanimate object/thing, he never felt any emotional connection to them. Although none of the people/inanimate objects/things produced offspring after these incidents, babies were never a thing for Pyramid Head. A crying baby meant he needed to find a seat further away. Gavin was different. In a way, Gavin was everything Pyramid Head wished he could be to the world: funny, intelligent, literate, could talk, and overall badass. And with each drunken night, Gavin and Pyramid Head formed a bond, infinitesimal at first, but one that grew slowly and subtly up to this point. The saddest thing was not that Gavin was being taken away, but that Pyramid Head only came to recognize this bond at the worst possible moment: as Gavin was being carted away.

The blue and red lights flared up and reflected off of his rusty head. With his hand still clutching the whiskey-dripping water cooler, he watched the last seconds as Gavin awaited his new life in prison. Pyramid Head's hand, once clutching the handle of the water cooler with all his strength, suddenly went lax and allowed the cooler to drop.

Kathump!

Of all the things Pyramid Head could've done...

In these last few moments...

Only one thing crossed Pyramid Head's mind...

... why wasn't my last moment with Gavin doing something less stupid?
