| They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home. Can you survive it? The odd thing may have been that she hadn't cried. Not once. There were no tear stains on her cheeks, her eyes were glossed over but not red with the usual puffiness that comes with the expected reaction when a tragedy happens. She hadn't said a word all day, not to anyone, and she hadn't been answering her cell phone or her Bangle. She had given one-word responses to the police, simple yes or no answers to some much more complicated questions, but they couldn't blame her, it couldn't be helped. She'd received the call at school, the director had interrupted her class and called her out. She knew it wasn't good news, not from her powers in the slightest (which was odd... she knew she'd had a bad feeling in the morning when she first woke up, but she simply attributed that to the fact that she hadn't slept well because her grandfather had needed medication throughout the night, and kept forgetting where it was or what it was, so she was frequently up to help him), but simply by his tone, and he wouldn't look her in the eye. Normally, he had no problem with that. He told her to grab her things, and follow him to the administration office. It was odd, as well, that they were the only two in there - not even the secretaries had stuck around to gossip as they normally did. He told her, and dismissed her home, or what was left of it, rather. She left without saying a word - no asking how, no why, no hysterics of any sort. She had just looked shocked for a moment, before silently nodding and leaving the campus. When she arrived at the apartment, only her grandparent's apartment had caught fire, there was no evidence of anything, and there was barely enough left of their bodies to determine if they were dead when the fires started, or if they were alive and burned to death. If anything, Aislin was somewhat glad for that much - she wanted to be ignorant of someone murdering her caretakers, but she also didn't want to imagine them burning alive and unable to flee or call for help, for the sake of both of them being bedridden for the last three days or so. And now she was standing on the street corner, staring down at a slip of paper, but not really seeing it. This was the address, but she wasn't sure what she was expecting. This was the only place she figured she could go, though, at least for the time being, at least until she got her head back on straight and had time to think. Time to figure out where she'd go or what she'd do, what there was to even do about it all. She shifted the backpack on her shoulders uneasily, chewing her lip a bit. All she'd taken out of the apartment today was her books and an extra jacket, it was cold today, especially with the setting sun. Oddly enough, however, she wasn't wearing it - it was still folded in her bag, waiting for its purpose to be fulfilled, but she was too numb to care about it all. The bite of the cold evening breeze didn't hinder her much, if at all, and if it did, she certainly didn't show it. Hell, she didn't show much of anything right now, her face was eerily blank, distant. She didn't even realize she'd started walking toward the house, but suddenly she was there, at the door, and she tore her eyes from the paper long enough to stare at the door. She hesitated, then brought a shaking hand to it, tapped three times. She didn't have the strength right now to make an audible noise - the doorbell met her fingertip the next moment in the day's waning sunlight. It was times like these that she was glad that red hair of hers fell haphazardly and whipped freely around in the wind - she wouldn't have to look him dead-on, and if she started losing it, started crying, he wouldn't see it. The numbness was starting to fade away, just a bit, and she felt a pain in her chest. She should've stayed home today, maybe then her grandparents wouldn't be... |

Aislin grinned a bit as he accepted, nodding and carefully setting his racquet down on the unused bed. She was strange, honestly. She should have, by no means, been in nearly a mood to ask him to play tennis, but it was something to distract herself with. If she was distracted, she couldn't stress or worry or mourn. It was a surprise the redhead wasn't cleaning and reorganizing Shinji's room, or making dinner and cooking enough food for about fifteen people. No, for the time being, this would help to distract her. "It will be, promise!" She laughed lightly, moving and wrapping her arms around him in a tight hug, a rather sudden motion she hadn't planned too well and, if she weren't so petite, she might have pushed him a bit from the spontaneous action. Instead, though, she released him seconds later, and faced the room again, as if considering spending a bit more time sifting through his past life. "If ye' could go back, would ye'?" She asked all of the sudden, a bit quietly. |

Shinji didn't respond to her last question with any words at first, merely nodding when Aislin spoke. Shinji had wondered about coming back home to visit his mother, maybe a few of his friends, but merely assumed he wouldn't be able to get past airport security without being detained for what he had in his body. Shinji feared what would happen if he tried to come home, what would happen if his mother figured out what happened to him, and he hated thinking about it for too long. Shinji spoke up after a while, watching Aislin's figure as she looked about the room. "I can't go back, though. Not now, anyways..." |

"Why can't ye'?" She questioned, curious, but truly seeing no reason why he couldn't. Probably because she had no idea what had happened to him or anything of the sort. She assumed, from the context of his reply, that he would return if he could, but why in the hell couldn't he? Maybe he didn't have the option, maybe he was being forced to stay here, but why? She didn't understand it. Hell, if she had the means, she'd return home, regardless of whether the folks there ostracized her or not. Was he afraid that that would happen to him? No, she couldn't see that being the case... Then again, she never figured him for a tennis player, either. She looked to him again, head tilted some, before she offered a small smile once more. "Sure ye' doona' want somethin' te eat? Since I've been interrogatin' ye', that'd be the least I could do, is make ye' some dinner," she joked lightly. She was kind of on-and-off interrogating him in her own way, but she was definitely holding back the onslaught of questions racing through her mind. Besides, he had to eat sometime, didn't he? |

"Well, I'm afraid I'd get stopped at the airport. If they get a look inside my body, a look at what was put inside me, then they would more than likely detain me and try to pry it out of me. Truth be told, I'm not completely sure I'd be able to live without it anymore." Shinji hadn't tried to remove anything that his father had placed inside his body, and he couldn't really think of anybody who would actually be willing to go through with cutting him open and taking him apart like a game of operation. Shinji's lack of knowledge on what was inside of him, and how he could possibly remove it, was something he had always dreaded, but he didn't want to confront his father about it. Hell, thinking about it only served to make him frustrated that the whole thing happened at the first place. "Well, if you're hungry, I could eat too." |

Aislin blinked, completely at a loss for words. What was inside of him..? And he wasn't sure if he could live without it anymore? What on earth had happened to him? "Well, maybe ye'll figure it out some day... Ye' never know." She offered, but wasn't all too sure of her own words. Mostly because she had absolutely no idea what it was or why it was like that, but the way he had said it made it hard for her to justify continuing to ask about it, even despite her concerns that were rather obvious in her eyes at this point. When he agreed to let her make food, she nodded, and moved to head out of the room. She paused in front of him though, and after a moment's hesitation, hugged him, leaning up with her arms wrapped around his neck. "I doona' know what happened, but I'm sorry fer wha'ever it was." It was said a bit quietly, almost a whisper, before she let go and moved passed him and out the door. From her wandering, she easily found her way back to the living room, and from there to the kitchen. Now was just the task of figuring out what to make for dinner. |

She hugged him. Shinji smiled when he felt Aislin hug her, his own hands resting on her back and against her beautiful red hair respectfully. When she let go, he let go as well, he didn't want to ruin the moment by just holding on to her too long. She made her way out of the room, and eventually he followed suit behind her, shutting the door behind him before joining her in the kitchen. Shinji didn't think about it at first, but eventually he though about what he had in his fridge and freezer. Chicken breasts, instant sausages, eggs, and a leftover burrito that he had made himself at one point not too long ago. There really wasn't much for the two of them to eat. Hell, they could probably eat everything in there together if they really tried. "There's not much in there right now. I'm not a big eater." |

Hell, was he right. There wasn't much in there at all, and thawing the chicken after pulling it out of the freezer this late... They wouldn't be eating until like one in the morning. Still, she moved the chicken from the freezer and into the fridge - that could thaw overnight, she figured, and she could cook it tomorrow. "Ye'r right, an' I'm goin' shoppin' t'morrow. Fer some reason I get th' feelin' ye' doona' eat much because ye' get too busy workin', it ain't healthy." She teased gently, shaking her head some. Shrugging, she had another option in mind. "But, fer now, I guess I canna' cook very much with what's 'ere. I can order somethin', I suppose. Feel like pizza?" It was odd, really. The girl would not let up that Shinji needed to eat and refused to admit defeat so far as the circumstances went of not having food in the house, meanwhile she looked like a small gust of wind would carry her off somewhere. Ironically, she ate just fine, her metabolism was just obnoxiously fast, but still. |

"Uhh...sure, pizza sounds good." Pizza? Really? This young woman was just not wasting any time when it came to marking her territory within his household. There was no fighting it, though, the young girl was here to stay for the forseeable future. Shinji liked the idea of that, though, and Aislin made herself fit in quite nicely so far...with the exception of snooping around his room. Taking in some air through his nose, though, Shinji picked up on something a little more foul than he expected. Taking a more concentrated whif of his shirt, Shinji determined that the smelly smell came from him, of all people. It was time to change that... "You order it, I'm gonna clean myself up..." |

"Alright, can do," she nodded. Well, at least he wasn't fighting anymore. She hesitated a moment, eyes scanning over the kitchen, before she popped over to a drawer and pulled it out, sifting through some of the menus stored in there, probably from when Shinji's dad still lived there by the looks of them. It was another moment before she remembered where her cell phone was (for a second, she could've sworn it was in her backpack), but she fished it from her pocket, and began dialing the number. And then she hung up, and moved to follow after him a little. "Oi, what d'ye want on it, Shinji?" She wasn't particularly picky about what went on her pizza, so long as it was edible, but she knew some people were extremely particular about such things. |

"Anything is fine..." Fuck...I need to do laundry... Shinji thought to himself as he looked at the small container he had of the dirty clothes in his house, still needing to be washed before use again. Shinji had stripped down to his bare skin, exposing a few lined scars over where the procedure took place to change him into the man he was today, but thought nothing of it as he picked up the container full of dirty clothes and brought them over to the washer and dryer in the house. Was it a little late in the day to be doing laundry? Yeah, but at least this would be a reminder to get things done eventually. So for now, Shinji stood naked in his own home, out of sight from Aislin for the moment. |
