Niwa's Recent News
  • 19 April 2015 -- Niwa is under new management!

Niwa is now under new management as we strive to stand up the the standards of fun and entertaining roleplaying we have so far provided here at Niwa. Today makes the start of a campaign to bring in new members as Head Admin Akaiken and Support Admin Sparky work together to improve and uphold the current face of Niwa and keep us all moving forward!

They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home.

Can you survive it?

2157 hours. Thursday.
City of Niwa. Downtown. Parking lot of "The Shit"
2 hours, 3 minutes remain.

There was no roar of a beat-down motorcycle that was on it's last legs, sputtering muffler and creaking shocks. Can't have anyone snatching up his baby, now can we? No, tonight, The Knight had arrived via Taxi cab. The driver asked, indifferently, if he'd be needing a ride back - apparently it was a slow thursday night. He'd just smirked and turned away. Lighting up a cigarette, [half a pack left - should last him two hours, according to the bangle on his wrist] and he strode up outside The Shit - where he'd intended to meet Shinji one last time before things all fell into place. It was ironic - the new saloon-style doors he himself had installed [while helping out Pyramid Head for the damages] were there from the hole in the wall, when he was thrown through it. It was the night he met Shinji, and Ines; the night Cerberus all started, as a concept. A theory. Here they were, months later.

Funny how things had a way of falling out.

Shinji couldn’t spend these last few days being a bum or concentrating on other things, he had to remain vigilant for his friend and fellow Cerberus head if this entire plan was going to pan out. Hell, from what Shinji knew of the plan to begin with, there wasn’t much of one and Gavin was sure to get hurt or even killed for what he agreed to do on the inside. These last few days were spent mapping out entrances and exits, contingencies just in case things were beginning to fall apart, everything needed to go according to plan. Whatever the police had in mind about sending Gavin in on his own, Shinji wouldn’t allow it, there were too many loose ends and too long a time frame for everything to fit perfectly for them. He’d have to help them along if he wanted Gavin out of there, a game he was only willing to play so far.

Walking towards The Shit, Shinji couldn’t help but wonder about the practicality of the saloon doors in the very same space where Gavin was thrown through all that time ago. It got a chuckle out of the well dressed man, in his usual black dress slacks and white dress shirt, but tonight he lacked his usual tie. There wasn’t much need for one during the day, so he skipped that process all together and went about his usual routine before coming to The Shit.

“Long time no see, big guy.”

Shinji was hardly a man of sentimentality, but this was a rare moment.
-
"Yeah, didn't wanna wake your neighbors any more than I had to."
The men shook hands, but it was little more than that. The Knight resumed his cigarette. If he knew Shinji as well as he hoped he did [which was considerably better than they knew their wayward Ines, as it were] the young, upstanding gent wouldn't let him go into this unarmed - mentally, anyway. Sneaking firearms into prison? Likely not the best idea.

"Got anything good for me?"
-
"Right now, the only good thing I could give you is a ticket out of this whole mess before it even begins."

Shinji wasn’t kidding; this whole thing stunk from the beginning. If need be, Shinji could easily arrange for his big friend to be moved to another location to hide out for a little while. Knowing Gavin as well as he did, however, Shinji knew that Cerberus’ “Knight” wasn’t going to back out of this thing at the last minute, nor would he ever consider it at any point until it was fully done. As stubborn as Gavin seemed to be about his allies outside of their inner circle, Shinji knew that this was a good chance to strike at the corruption that ran rampant through this city. If only there was a way he could test the stability of Gavin’s allies outside of the inner circle, but that would have to be an issue addressed a little later down the line.

“However, the good news is that you won’t be going into this place without backup.”
-
"Without backup, eh?" He smirked, flicking the ash off his cigarette. He'd not responded to the first bit entirely on purpose; Shinji knew better, and it was easier to just let him keep talking than refute the point. Hiding wasn't an option, this was a volunteer gig. Sort of... But no use crying over spilt blood, yeah?
-
"For the most part, you will be on your own. You're a big guy, you're more suited for your position than I ever would be, but we will make sure you get out of this safely. I will check in on you from time to time, and I'll make sure to identify myself to you when I come to you, but most of what I'm going to do is going to be played a little more closely to the chest." The more Shinji spoke, the more he wanted to fill his comrade in on his plan, but Shinji knew better than to give the one asset he had in this field every bit of the information that could possibly lead back to Cerberus. Shinji could only hope that Gavin understood.
-
"Yeah, no, that's fine." He shrugged. He was used to not knowing the whole story. Must've been the days in the military. Need to know basis and all. "That shapeshifting finally coming in handy, eh?"
-
"I was beginning to wonder about it's practicality myself." A dead pan comment from Shinji, another rarity for a man like himself. Shinji nodded almost blankly, though, before he spoke aloud while looking off into the city. "With any luck, you shouldn't be in there for too long."
-
"How long you thinking?"
-
"A week at least. Shouldn't be longer than two or three, though."
-
"Well hell. I was expecting a month or two at least. A few weeks? That's a cakewalk."
Well, hell. That's a relief.

After a small, brief chat thereafter, the two men parted ways. The Knight took the last drag off his cigarette as he watched Shinji head back down the street. It was one of the best things about their relationship; they both trusted eachother immensely, could pass information between eachother with very few words, and knew they had eachother's backs no matter the situation. While Shinji didn't agree with Gavin's decision to even take the job, he was doing everything he could to keep his partner in crime [literally] safe.
Then again, he was headed to prison for the betterment of Cerberus, wasn't he?
Would the streets be better off with the leader of the organized terrorists behind bars? Or would things crumble faster?
Or, worse yet; stay exactly the same?
Regardless, music was getting loud, and there was two hours left to not be the city's most armed vigilante. Just another dude getting drunk, right before prison.
