Niwa's Recent News
  • 19 April 2015 -- Niwa is under new management!

Niwa is now under new management as we strive to stand up the the standards of fun and entertaining roleplaying we have so far provided here at Niwa. Today makes the start of a campaign to bring in new members as Head Admin Akaiken and Support Admin Sparky work together to improve and uphold the current face of Niwa and keep us all moving forward!

They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home.

Can you survive it?

[Time] Rain ((OPEN)); No Solace in Dampness

It was raining again. It seemed like the entire week had just been filled with rain. The huge advertisements all around Niwa Time Square reflected off of the damp concrete to create a sense to anyone playing attention that they were walking on color itself. There was no side walk anymore, there was only reflection. Introspection was the name of the game, or at least, that was the reason that the Man in White was there today.

Introspection was only half of it really. He was looking for something. He didn't know what it was, but he knew it was around. There was a particular object that he needed. He knew that much, but the man wasn't aware of the oddity that had started to accompany it. There had been some rumors so far, but there was nothing particularly concrete. It was making it more and more difficult to track, but thankfully, this man had learned how to track things from the best.

Wo Shing. How glad he was that those days were....partly.....behind him, but how glad he was he had picked up some of those skills that he had never had before the group. The Man in White looked up and felt the rain press upon his face. People walked around him as though they didn't notice him, and maybe they didn't. It was hard to miss a man clothed in white, but then again, people were so unobservant these days. Maybe he just blended into the reflections.

He knew it was here, and he was worried about what it might do to any of the people in the Square right then.

Havoc was imminent. That much was clear.

"You'll catch a cold, you know?" The voice of an older man coupled with the clacks of hard heeled shoes came toward the Man in White. He was an older man, shaven but still rough around the edges. His light brown hair remained still and dry thanks to the all-black umbrella he held over his head. He looked to be nearly forty from his wrinkles, but the truth was that he was much younger. His black quarter coat made his build seem bigger.

He stood in front of the person in front of him, a toothpick hanging from the corner of his mouth.

"Are you alright, sir?"

The Man in White couldn't help but chuckle as the man came up to him. He had a black umbrella, and despite the fact that he looked fairly old, the man could tell that he was not as old as he looked. He looked him up and down, and the one green eye that the Man in White had seemed to sparkle even more in the strange glow of the ever changing advertisement screens. The black umbrella blotted out some of the light and cast an odd shadow on the ground. It disrupted the color. It bled out further. And further, and further, and further.

“It's no the cold I'm worried about, and yes, I'm fine,” the Man in White said. He extended a hand to shake the 'older' gentleman's. “My name is Danny. And who might you be?”

The man's shadow still stretched further, and the rain seemed to let up at the moment that Danny extended his arm. Before long, there came from the sky this great white downpour. It was soft. And whatever it was fell down like long snowflakes. Feathers. Brilliant white feathers rained from the sky, and Danny just smiled as though it made all the sense in the world.

It seemed like forever, but it had only been a second, and before the world could say anything, it was doused in white feathers. The advertisements simply filled the whitewash with their brilliant colors, but they couldn't get past the man's shadow. They couldn't get past the umbrella that hid him from the world.

“Have you ever been so sure of something? You just knew that something was right there in front of you?” Danny asked. It was about that moment that a young boy with grey hair bumped into the man with the umbrella. Danny's eyes widened, and he looked towards the boy, who had paused, and then to the gentleman who asked him the questions.

“I don't think you need that umbrella any longer.”

The shadow had extended even further now.

It blotted out the east.

It had been a long time since she had been home, but Ru knew her place in this world now. She had spent a lot of time trying to blend into the crowds of Niwa, to save her life as well as Danny's. But now, he was out in the open, so why couldn't she be? Even after all the heartache she went through--chopping off her hair, telling Touya they needed a break, and never achieving her dream of a family. A navy blue hood covered her short red hair, the jacket buttoned up over a green striped scarf. Her brown boots splashed through the puddles towards the two men. She was tired of being in the shadows. If Danny could be out like this, why not her?

"I thought you were laying low?" Amber eyes stared through him, an edge to them, but she was smirking.

Across the way, a young girl with pink hair was sulking as she walked through the rain without any protection. Even dead/alive, Haru felt the rain and hated it. She wasn't cold, but the sloshing around in her shoes was uncomfortable. The scene before her had her slowing down though. Was that... a shadow? She didn't dare step into it, her eyes stayed fixated on it. Her gaze eventually followed it to the source, but she didn't approach. Who were these people?

Cricket was heading the opposite direction from Haru. She had just finished a marathon at the arcade, beating some punks to several games of DDR. Her blue hair was up in a high ponytail and she was waltzing home in a t-shirt, her jacket slung over her arm. The shirt was soaked, but the cold rain was helping her cool off from her earlier excursions. When she saw the small, strange gathering, she froze, unable to tear her eyes away. Something was going on here... something...

That made her fall asleep where she was standing.

Allen bumped into the dead-girl, Haru, and when he did, he simply looked at her. He could tell. He always tried to absorb those people that were so rude to bump into him, but this one. Her water was different. There was something so empty about it. And that was when the florist noticed that the sky had parted, and the feathers began to fall.

“Little miss dead thing...angle feathers.” This was unlike much of Allen's normal behavior. For some reason (and even Haru might have noticed) he was telling her something that might save her life. Allen held out his hand. This was something that he never did, but since his talks with Danny at his flowershop, he had begun to wonder what life was really worth living. The murderer in him was always asking to be let out, and he did that with Wo Shing, but then...there was something else. He had learned long ago that he was supposed to be a dad. Was that what this guilty side was? Was that the feeling? He looked around, and he saw Danny. He saw Danny and he knew that they should move towards him. He hated the feeling that he should move towards the one that he supposedly dehydrated. It made him uncomfortable, but...but here, it seemed right.

Alk looked up a Danny. The grey haired kid never thought he would see him again, but here he was. There was nothing he could do but stare. Danny recognized it, and nodded his head. Alk stopped his gazing and began to look up at the feathers that began to fall. A great change was about to happen.

Then...then the voice. Danny turned around, not shocked, not disturbed by it, but glad. It was Rukkai.

“I was hiding...but that just wasn't any fun. How did I know that you would come?” Danny smiled at her. Forgetting the man in the umbrella, and his shadow. That was the first mistake. But Danny knew what was going to happen. He smiled at Rukkai once again, and in that moment, a set of feathery white wings grew behind her.......

Their powers had switched once more.
“Welcome to old times,” Danny said. “I think that the gems are in play again.”

It was in that moment that one of the billboards began to swing loose, directly at Cricket. Her actions might just decide the entire course of events!
