But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home. Can you survive it? 天堂 吉朗 NPC Type: Limited to Yakuza members (must notify KingCannon before use) Name: Tendō Kichirō Alias: Ebisu Gang Affiliation: Yakuza (Takeda) Age: 24 Birth Date: May 23, 1988 Occupation: Head book-maker and Leader of the Seven Lucky Gods Physique: ![]() Classy | Casual Despite his namesake Ebisu maintains a lean figure indicative of an ascetic lifestyle. While he does not follow all the tenants of his religion he does maintain a clean shaven head as is appropriate of a Buddhist monk. He is in good shape and in the prime of his life and he revels in it often taking part in physical activities and exercising. Perhaps the one thing that could be said to be unlucky about Ebisu is his face, though it's really a matter of opinion. Despite being a fairly even tempered individual he was blessed/cursed with the pure visage of a delinquent. A friendly smile from him often comes across as an evil grin or a thuggish smirk. He can't help the way that he looks, but this doesn't seem to bother him much. Personality: Ebisu has the friendly even temperament of a man at peace with the world. Of course, it's easy to be at peace when life has dealt you a winning hand. He is positively positive all the time, usually seeing the bright side of things even in dark situations. Many people can find this trait annoying, or disturbing, but it doesn't seem to bother him in the slightest. He has a smile for everyone he meets and usually something nice to say as well. Despite this, he has a mischievous streak a mile long, and as well as a fairly severe gambling addiction. However, he dennies having any kind of problem with gambling, and it's hard to argue considering how often he wins. He won't hesitate to put down a bet on the oddest things, often with even stranger wagers. The only aspect of his personality anyone seems to take issue with is his complete lack of respect for status or authority. While he is wise enough not to cross his benefactors that is about as far as he'll go in terms of endearing himself to them. He will often refer to others with nicknames and speak to them informally regardless of their station. More often than not he seems to get away with this due to his cheerful personality and extreme value. Like his namesake Ebisu is a fishermen. Aside from gambling it is his greatest passion and he can often be found fishing, even when he's supposed to be working. He often carries a fishing rod around with him and will invite people he likes to go on fishing trips with him. He enjoys it so much that he spends more time on a houseboat owned by the Takeda than he does living at the temple. If anyone has called him out on this vice he doesn't seemed to have heeded them, and none of his fellow monks seem to take issue with it. It is important to note that Ebisu usually does not keep the fish he catches, tossing them back none the worse for ware. He considers it a game and a way of relaxing and has no interest in eating the fish or displaying any trophies. Ebisu leads an unusually sinful life for a monk, often sneaking alcohol and meat when can, and constantly gambling. Despite this, none of the more traditional monks at Kagami-ji seem to take issue with his behavior. Whether they have some reason to be tolerant of his behavior or are simply indifferent is unclear but Ebisu himself believes that he is following his own unique path to Buddhahood. Personal History: Ebisu was found by a monk durring Hana-matsuri, the celebration of the birth of the Buddha. Doctors were able to determine that he was newborn, only hours old. While they could not be certain he had been born that very day, it was taken as his birthday and an omen of a fortunate life. The monk adopted the boy and raised him as an initiate of the Shingon sect. Ebisu spent most of his life growing up in Kagami-ji just outside of Niwa. The monk's life was no protection from the criminal element of Niwa, and like all children born in that city Ebisu's life was influenced by the criminal culture around him. The Takeda and Tsukamoto clans, which had large interests in the Kagami Temple, soon took notice of the young man with astounding luck. He was quickly recruited to work at the Takarabune gambling den. He started out as a dealer, but quickly rose through the ranks as much out of luck as through actual effort on his part. Soon he found himself as head bookmaker and leader of the Seven Lucky Gods, handling the biggest bets and bringing the Yakuza great wealth. Gifts/Skills/Abilities/Powers: Lucky Devil To call Ebisu lucky would be an understatement. While for most people Luck is just a concept, a way to put a name to the randomness of the universe, for Ebisu it is a real and almost tangible thing. Good fortune is an every day part of life for him. His unnatural luck does seem to follow it's own set of rules. While he is generally fortunate, it is usually in small things such as finding some loose change or separating his chopsticks perfectly. However, the more chaotic and dependent on chance the situation is the more his luck grows. His luck does not directly interfere with that of others, his opponent would not slip on a banana peel a second before he tried to shoot Ebisu, but a ricocheting bullet will miss him nine times out of ten. His luck can overwhelm the luck of others though. Particularly in the case of gambling, while a person may have had the odds in their favor they will often prove to be unlucky when betting against Ebisu. However, he is aware that even his luck can run out, not that he cares. Stacking the Odds As previously stated, Ebisu is lucky, but usually only in small things and gambling. His luck won't save him from a well aimed bullet or someone with an extra card up their sleeves. However, Ebisu has discovered that through a concentrated force of will he can stack the odds in his favor, pushing the bounds of probability. Doing so, he can make incredibly lucky shots, win in a game where the odds have been unfairly stacked against him, or avoid fatal injury. However, this is a limited ability with dire consequences if abused. Ebisu is able to use this power three times a day, any more and the forces of chance will begin to balance themselves, causing bad things to happen to him in exchange for the good. These things are never subtle and usually life threatening. Angler Ebisu is uncannily skilled with the steel fishing rod he carries around. He is able to blindly cast it and still manage to hook something of value. However, even without his luck he is a skilled angler, and is capable of using his fishing rod in unusual ways. In combat he has been known to whip or jab his opponents with the rod and hook and entangle them with the line. He has a very confusing and indirect way of fighting that allows him to handle his enemies with grace. Ebisu is not particularly skilled with firearms although he knows how to hold a gun. His generally nonviolent nature means that he eschews carrying any form of regular weaponry. Despite that he is a dangerous enemy to get into a gunfight with due to his lucky and chaotic nature. Additional Information: Ebisu carries a number of lucky talismans and ofuda around, often giving them out to people he likes or who seem down on their luck. Whether or not these items are actually lucky is suspect, and where he gets them from even more so, but they are always on hand and he is happy to share. Edited by KingCannon, Oct 11 2012, 05:42 AM.

About the only time losing is more fun than winning is when you're fighting temptation.
