| They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home. Can you survive it? There was a first time for everything. Police Officer Kintaro Kugayama, currently off duty, had come into the library in his regular clothing because today he was not on any official police business. This would be his first time at the library since he moved into Niwa not too long ago, and his first time around the City Hall area in general since his move here. It only took a brief look around the outside of the library to really take in what was so different between his old home and his new one: the attitude. Here in Niwa, it may have been dangerous, but what it lacked was the air of pompousness that came from those who have been endowed with special abilities like himself. This wasn't a city that hindered strictly on super powered people for survival, something that his old home town could take a lesson or two from. Passing through the doors of the library, Kintaro admired the layout of the library of the main lobby as he continued to walk in, not really sure of where he would go from there. |

"In a library? Never." Kintaro let out a softer chuckle as he helped the young lady get back on her feet, checking the floor around her to make sure she didn't drop anything of hers. This was shaping up to be one of the more eventful encounters he had here in the city since he moved here, but all of that seemed to come to a screeching halt for a moment as the librarian working today had come up and made a ruckus about...well, the ruckus the two of them were involved with. Kintaro cleared his throat before he looked directly at the librarian and spoke to her. "I'm sorry about the noise, miss, my friend just slipped on the floor. She's fine, and we'll try to keep our noise to a minimum next time." Kintaro delivered his explanation with a soft smile and a clam voice, hoping to quell the inner rage of the librarian. |

If Kintaro looked like a teenager like Steve, the librarian would've kicked them out immediately. She had to deal with enough horseplay from rambunctious teens and their rap music. Thankfully, Kintaro appeared a little older -- most likely in his early to mid-20s -- and, to his credit, was very polite to the librarian. "Fine," she said. "Please be considerate of fellow readers. Or else." That last sentence was said staring straight at Steve. The librarian waited for Steve to acknowledge her words but, after a few awkward seconds, stomped off back to her post. As she went out of sight, Steve flipped her off. Now she probably had to thank Kintaro again. Goddamnit, when will this end? Is she supposed to bow? How do the Asians do it? She wasn't sure but she did probably owe him one. She bowed to him. "Thank you again," she said. How long are these supposed to last? She stayed in bowing position until she was told otherwise. |

"It's not a problem, really. I was happy to help." Kintaro, while he appreciated the gesture of the bow from the young lady, was a little taken aback by just how long this bow seemed to last. It wasn't unusual for Kintaro to get one from people every once in a while for doing something helpful, but this young lady seemed to be a little too grateful for his assistance. However, in the midst of his bashfulness around her bowing, Kintaro's eyes shifted back down to the young lady's clothing before moving back up to her body, noticing immediately how disproportionate the two were to one another. "Were you on your way anywhere, miss?" And thus came the questions... |

Aha! With Kintaro's response, that was Steve's cue to sit up. Thank God! That was a painful bow! How do they do it here so often? And sadly, Steve knew she would have to get used to it now that she was officially part of the Triads. She wasn't sure how long she could last. Kintaro asked where she was going. She was about to open her mouth and say "the bathroom" but she was able to stop herself from creating a huge error. Her plan was to change back to her male form in the bathroom. If Kintaro followed her and waited outside the bathroom, it'd blow Steve's cover if she emerged as a he. Plus, it'd look really fucking odd. Obviously, she might need to either shake him or just ride it out. "I..." she began, trying to figure out how to put her situation into words without necessarily giving away details. "I was walking around when someone spilled water all over me and my clothes got wet. And I ended up here to get away from... where I got drenched." Her clothes were, actually, still pretty damp. One of the rolled up sleeves was dripping onto floor, creating a puddle. Her body also started to shake a little, her body starting to get really cold due to her soggy clothing. She never considered that she is probably more susceptible to colder temperature in this form. She would love to have a sweatshirt about now. Now that she answered Kintaro, should she ask a question back? "Who..." she asked. "... are you?" Edited by Craze, Oct 15 2012, 12:16 PM.

That excuse had come off as flimsy beyond belief to Kintaro, and for a split second his face almost contorted into a giant question. However, composing himself again, Kintaro figured he'd get to the excuse for the clothing sooner or later. And then, almost seemingly out of nowhere, she had asked him who he was. Didn't he introduce himself to her earlier, when he was trying to pull her up? Thinking back on it, Kintaro couldn't telling her his name or anything else about him, which meant he probably didn't in the first place. Smiling a little bit sheepishly, he took a second to properly introduce himself. "I'm sorry, I thought I introduced myself earlier. I'm Kintaro Kugayama. What's your name?" |

Kintaro looked utterly perplexed -- almost suspicious? -- of Steve's story, which was strange. The story was the truth. Maybe not the whole truth, but it was true nevertheless. However, Kintaro now asked for her name. Oh shit! She can't say Steve. That's definitely not a girl's name! Um, think quick, Steve! "My name is..." she began. "Fanny." Yeah, that works! "Fanny Smith!" she boasted, proud because she came up with that name really fast without missing a beat. Edited by Craze, Oct 15 2012, 01:17 PM.

"That is a very unique name, or at least half of it is anyways. Is Fanny supposed to be short for something, or a nickname?" Although he didn't say it aloud, Kintaro was hoping that the young woman's last name was not, in fact, Fanny. Remembering back to his days in elementary school, kids with names that sounded similar to some kind of a body part (even if they weren't even that close to sounding like them, really) were made fun of relentlessly. However, with a name like Fanny, Kintaro couldn't help but wonder what may have possibly been going through her parent's heads when they decided to name their child something similar to a name for a butt. Kintaro smiled, never the less, smiled and tried to never let on what was going on through his head. |

Fanny's face turned red with rage. It wasn't because her name was also the word for your butt. In fact, the reason "Fanny" came to mind was because it was a synonym for "Butts", Fanny's real last name. If she did not realize this, then it'd be completely odd for her to get mad at Kintaro. However, Fanny took that as a personal hit on her real last name: Butts. She had gotten Kintaro's question all her life. Literally, her entire life. Some people think her parents hated her by having a last name like Butts. In fact, generations of Butts have been harassed, jeered, and poked fun at simply by their name. And, in a weird way, Fanny had become quite close to it because it was her identity. And no one, not even some prickly dick who thinks he's made a funny remark, can take that way from her. Plus, it's the equivalent of joking about a short person being short or a disabled person being disabled. They've heard everything and, for most part, they don't think it's funny after awhile. In Fanny's case, she always reacts the same way when people talk shit about her name. "Oh, funny! Like I haven't heard that before." She balled her fist and punched Kintaro's stomach as hard as she could.... "It's! My! Name!" ...which wasn't really that hard. Actually, it was quite pathetic. She had nowhere near the muscles of her male form, so her punches were really all for naught. At least she looked pissed. "Who's laughing now?!!!" |

"I...uhh..." Kintaro felt the young woman's fist connect with his stomach, but didn't feel much beyond that aside from what may have been considered a slight tickling sensation. Having only realized how what he said was construed as an insult, Kintaro's face changed from what was once inquisitive into regret. Kintaro had felt badly for the way he handled that, and now he needed to apologize. "I'm really sorry, Fanny. I didn't mean to insult you like that." And the matter of her fist against his chest was almost completely ignored. |

She even had a few tears welling up in her eyes; the insult cut deeper than Fanny expected. With the last few punches, Fanny stepped back, her hands on her knees. She couldn't stop heaving, completely out of breath and... sore? Seriously, she was already sore from all that work? Her mouth opened to speak but she could only inhale and exhale rapidly. "Fu..." she gasped in between breathes. "Fu..." She wanted to curse him out, still angry over the remark. But it was becoming too difficult. Finally, catching her breath, she sat back up, rubbing the hair out of her face and sighing. "Thanks..." She wiped her eyes. Tears? Really? Her name was an emotional topic for Fanny, but she thought her crying was completely unnecessary. She was about to get even more upset over the tears, which would inevitably cause more tears, but she managed to stop herself. Oh well, at least it happened as a girl and not as a man. That would ruin her male ego. She'd probably have to punch a wall if that happened. Rubbing her eyes, she composed herself. "So what are you? Some kind of book worm who randomly saves girls in libraries or something--" Grumble~ Was that her stomach? Now that she thought about it, she hadn't eaten in quite awhile. Or was it her smaller, younger body that had a higher metabolism and it just needed more food? She wasn't sure. Except she was also craving a particular type of food, one that normally she never craved. No really, she needed it now. "Is there some place..." she began, "we can get chocolate? I'm hungry." Someone please feed her! Edited by Craze, Oct 20 2012, 01:24 AM.
