| They said this was a city for our kind, they said it was a safe haven from the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the city where we where safe from regular humans. But, in a city where Meta-Humans run rampant, is there such thing as safety? When taking what you want is as simple as waving your hand, or closing your eyes, how can there be law? In this city, the truth is there is only one source of law, and that are the different criminal organizations that have formed all around us. The only order is that of the darkest part of humanity, of criminal organizations where the strong thrive while the weak gasp for air. This is Niwa Nights.. This is our home. Can you survive it? Was Ben nervous he was going to meet the chairman of the triads, and meet the man that his own boss, Pig Ears, vouched his loyalty to? Nah, Ben was hungry, and he was promised a free meal. Ben wasn`t really into the whole loyalty thing; sure, he worked for the triad but that was mainly thanks to Pig Ear: the obnoxious old man that worked Ben to the bone, but always paid his dues. If anything, Ben`s loyalty was with Pig Ears over the whole concept of the triad, if only for the reason that Pig Ear is the one he interacted with the most, and it was Pig Ear that saved him from starvation and homelessness. This Jin, he only heard of. He even met Alice Knight who was a strong supporter of Jin. Ben didn`t know what to expect… or what to eat. He was told this could mean more dangerous jobs, and more pay. Ben was fearless, and money was awesome. It was a bright morning, closer to noon. The soon was well lit, and Chinatown was as busy as ever. Ben avoided the large crowd, and just flew there directly, while lying on his back and reading a comic. His flight abilities were perfect. He could take any position in the air as if weightless, and his speed was constant. He lowered himself in an alleyway shared between the restaurant and another building. He casually walked up to the restaurant and walked in. Ben was told to wear the fanciest thing he owned, which was a tuxedo with a butterfly know. He looked like a manservant, but he does what he is told, even if he prefers to do it in hyperbole. The restaurant was filled with people. Ben just looked around. He wasn`t actually given any instructions others then to show up. So he shrugged, and went back to reading his comic, not realizing his feet were a few inches from the ground. |

"Yo Mista Triad, Tsuneo called, causing Jin's gaze to raise away from the table in front of him to the rugged driver of his. "...these are the guys you need eh? Have fun with 'em!" At first, the man sitting at the end of the round table closes to the wall was confused. "Mister... Triad?" The chairman stood from his seat with an eyebrow raised, unsure of what to think of his sudden new name. His scarred face wrinkled with his eyebrow, but he immediately put on a light smile. He stood at a slightly above-average height of 177cm, dressed from head to toe in an all-black suit and tie. It looked crisp and clean, and for once Jin didn't look extremely uncomfortable in it. He shrugged off Tsuneo's comment and extended his arm towards the chairs along the edge of the round table where a feast of cooked vegetables, steamed vegetables, roast pig, white-cut chicken, and fired tofu lay delectable and beautiful. "Thank you, Tsuneo." Jin addressed his driver, and then looked towards the three that Tsuneo led. "Have a seat, please. Have any of you eaten yet? Uncle Big Toe is one of the best Chinese chefs you'll ever run into in your lifetime. Please, have a seat and eat." His words and his expressions were light and free, but it was hard to dismiss the underlying issue of business being discussed. These three were recently recommended to Jin. Jacks of all trades, referred to Jin by the other elders--except for Steve Butts, whom Jin had already met earlier. One from Uncle So, the other from Uncle Gee Yee-Jai. Uncle Pig Ears. Two very influential men in the Tai Yeung hierarchy, whose words almost had more credibility and command than Jin's own. While Jin was in the more commanding position of being their employer, he knew that their loyalties lied more with those elders than with him. Any error or incompetence would surely affect his future throws at reelection. Jin sat down into his artisan-crafted wooden chair--they were all a set--and reached for his bowl of white rice and chopsticks. He was sure of the foreigners being recruited, and so each seat had a set of spoons, forks, knives, and whatever it was that the rest of the world used to stab at their food. |

Thankfully, a shabbily dressed man with a thick accent came to the rescue and escorted them to Jin's table. By the time Steve saw Jin, he completely forgot about the earlier argument. The only question left on his mind was why the head waiter was following them and sitting down with them? Was he going to be a Triad Waiter or something? Do they own restaurants? Apparently they do. Yeah, free food! As Steve sat down, he had to chime in: "Jin, I just to have say," he said, smiling, "You have the perfect last name for this business." Complimenting the boss. Good one! He really had no idea about the structure of this organization. He just assumed Jin was in charge of everything, so he'd smooch to him. "So what's good here?" he asked Jin. Steve was about to pick up a fork and knife before noticing Jin pick up some chopsticks to eat his bowl of rice. Hesitating, Steve's hand grabbed the chop sticks instead. He awkwardly placed the sticks between his fingers, but he couldn't get them to move correctly. They kept chomping against each other without any control. He attempted to lift his napkin as a test and dropped it on the floor instead. |

Someone else interrupted the squabble. Ah Good, finally. They will get to meet Jin; the chairman of the triad, though, to be honest. Ben was here for the grub, mainly and the slight possibility of getting to do easier higher paying jobs. Cleaning/repairing stuff was easy, but comparing the amount of work, with the pay it was very uneven. That and Jin apparently wasn’t a stingy old man. Ben was at least relived that Jin didn’t really have a dress code. He followed after his feet touched the ground. It also meant he was severely overdressed compared to the others. Ah well, this ought to prove to Pig Ears he was able to show respect when he wanted… His thoughts were cut short when he saw the magnificent food on the table… His stomach growled, his mouth was watering; when was the last time he ate other than instant ramen? The food was enchanting, calling him to him. He didn’t realize that he was levitating there, his feet off the ground as he pulled himself a chair. “If you embarrass me in front of the chairman, I will make you clean every gutter in Chinatown!” Pig ear’s words echoed in Ben Tai’s mind as he was stuffing himself with the food, cramming them down his maw, chewing loudly and making groans of pure jubilation. He hadn’t had such good food since… ever! The food looked so perfect, just waiting to be ravished. He wasn’t even using the utensils. Straight with the hands, as he gulped down and enjoyed the food. The masquerade was over, but damn was this food worth it. He was already tasked with cleaning the gutters anyway, so that threat rang hollow. “I`ll tell you what’s great. This food!” Ben had paused from eating to say that at Steve. He took as seat in front of him. He turned to the chairman. “Jin. I’m Ben Tai! Pig ears prodigy and the reason why Chinatown looks as nice as it does. I met Alice Knight, and I got to tell you. Your taste in food matches your taste in women.” He then turned to Miranda with a grin, snapped his fingers and pointed both fingers at her, finger guns style. “That goes for you as well honey”. |

If looks could kill, Ben would have been mutilated by Miranda's glare. So he really was just a royal jackass, shoving food into his mouth like some kind of wild animal. She picked up the chopsticks, getting a serving of chicken and vegetables. She exercised often enough that food intake wasn't a problem. She had sat down calmly, trying to have more respect than the other two morons that were either talking to the chairman like and old friend or stuffing their face and telling the chairman how hot his old friends were. She minded her manners, eating slowly. She had dressed nicely for the most part, but she needed free enough movement to run on rooftops. A simple short black dress sufficed, as it would allow movement while still staying in place and looking presentable. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Chairman. Thank you for the meal, it is delicious." |

"Please, call me Jin. Jin Tsui." Jin's hands gestured at the table in front of them, letting the three new recruits dig into the feast cooked by none other than the famous Uncle Big Toe. Prime ribs marinated in traditional Chinese sweet and salty sauce gave off a beautiful red glow, while the golden chicken with dots of scallion and ginger shone beneath the restaurant lighting. There were vegetables that seemed so fresh that the ground pork beneath them seemed like the dirt it rooted itself in. The Chairman looked at the three as they ate, smiling brightly. There was Ben Tai, who was one of the people that Old Pig Ears kept on about. Poor guy. Pig Ears must've made him actually clean the streets of Chinatown, the way that old man worked. Then there was the enigmatic Steve Butts. A man who was a pure professional, but still had a special charm about him. Also, there was the foundation: Miranda. While she may have seemed annoyed, Jin knew that she was the most sincere and most respectful of the new group. So this was the future of the Tai Yeung? Jin laughed out loud, his cheekbones high and his mouth smiling. "It's good of you to have met Alice." Jin responded to Ben, brushing over the comment about his taste in women. No, Alice wasn't his woman. Jin had none. In fact, he hadn't thought of his friend in such a manner before. Love was just a distraction in this business, and Jin made up for it by frequenting Big Momma's best. Perks of the job, he liked to think. "I just wanted to say thank you to you all for coming out and choosing to work under me. I like to think that I'm a good employer, and that I treat my people well. However, I do not spoil them. You get what you earn here, and we all make sure we work hard to make our dreams come true." His fingertips ran along the edge of his tea cup. "Times aren't good for the Triads of Chinatown. We've got too many. Even then, we're nowhere near as strong as the weakest Yakuza clan out there." Without trying to seem dramatic, Jin brought the cup to his lips, leveled. "I want to change that. It won't be easy, and it won't be clean. You've all been sent to me because our elders, the great Uncles and Aunts of the Tai Yeung Group, believe that you'll all make a difference to this city and our place in Niwa." He took a good sniff of the tea, letting the warm scent of the tea leaves run through his system. "But I need to know if you're all truly up for the job." His eyes hardened into a stone gaze, piercing through each and one of the recruits. "You are not yet true brothers and sisters of the Tai Yeung, but I am now offering you all the chance to. It's not an easy path. Even knowing that you are putting your life at risk for this cause... are you still willing?" |

Steve tried to pick up some noodles with his chopsticks but his sticks kept flicking off his fingers or crossing eachother awkwardly. However, he was determined! He put the noodles in between his two sticks, twirled them in a circle so it wrapped around like spaghetti, and then he ate them. Hmmm... this worked quite effectively. No wonder, he had been doing it all along. At the mention of Alice and Jin, Steve chuckled. "You two were very close the other night," he remarked, alluding to the club outing. "I wouldn't be surprise if some parts of your body got... even closer. If you know what I mean." Honestly, he didn't remember. What the hell did happen that night? Jin gave a small speech, dictating where the Triads were in relation to the other gangs. Immediately, Steve knew he made the right decision in coming to the Triads: they weren't doing so well. So if Steve brought them out of their rut, he'd gain even more clout and possibly a Chair Man position. Near the end of Jin's speech, Steve started clapping loudly. He wanted to show his enthusiasm somehow and clapping at the end of the speech seemed fitting. However, as he looked around and saw no one else doing the same, he just slowly brought it to a halt and nodded. "I'm in." |

Ben couldn`t help himself to notice Miranda`s glare, and he gave such an obnoxious laughter. “Hoho, whoa there sweet cheeks.” He said looking straight at Miranda. A piece of chicken held in his fingers as he pointed it at her. “Calm down those pretty little eyes of yours down.” He said as he munched and gulped down on the chicken. “I swear; can’t compliment anyone on their looks anymore. Maybe you’ll mess up a job, and Jin here will force you to team up with me, then you can show me if your usefulness will match your beauty.” Ben said with a crooked smile and a wink. Ben listened as Jin spoke; while enjoying his delicacies, of course. Jin was different then Pig ears: who was very blunt and direct. “Do your job and you get paid. Do it well, get paid well. Do it poorly, no money for you!”. Jin seemed to be the sort to want more than just a paid salary man. Maybe someone that`ll do free work and expect a pay down in the future… Heh… That was kind of an interesting proposition if you were a hard worker. Ben wasn’t. After Jin`s speech, Steve Butts applauded, and Ben couldn’t keep his laughter as he snorted first and left out a chuckle. “Oy, oy. If there`s a wad of cash at the end of the job. I`ll do it. Simple as that Jin-sama! Might even give you a discount if you pair me with someone nice looking.” He said as he did the hourglass form with his hands. He then stretched, leaned back on his chair until it dangled on its two back legs and rested hands behind his head. So Jin and Alice ehhh? Well… someone was going to get a little grilling after this meeting was over. Ben was going to figure out if vampires could blush. “I`ve done dirty jobs already under Pig ears, have you seen the gutters we have? I`ve seen and cleaned things that would make a senior nurse wretch… A little blood ain`t nothing compared to that.” |

My god, she had been sent in with idiots... complete fucking idiots... is this what she would have to work with? She sighed, she would need to deal with them if she wanted to rise in the ranks, and she would not be held back by simpletons. She listened intently as Jin spoke, wanting to learn from him. He wasn't too much older than her, and had obtained this position. That meant she had hope as well. Jin seemed concerned with the state of the Triads, making Miranda a little concerned. If even the chairman believed they were struggling, they would need the best and these two fuckwits were not them. She would prove herself, and aid in the Triad's ascension of power. "Whatever you need done, consider me your gun. I will do as you instruct, and go wherever you aim me, you must simply pull the trigger." |

In their own unique ways, the trio gave their word. In truth, none of their words had any weight in the least. They could all just as easily high-tail it once the going got tough, but the Tai Yeung Triads were moving up. The other Triads in Niwa were stagnating. That was the biggest benefit that they had going for them, but with the "fame" came the less dedicated. This dilution of seedy characters was what Jin thought brought the Yakuza into their current predicament. Too many folk in their ranks, too many people yearning for power and being able to obtain it, and not enough order. Jin looked at these three. They were different than the first class. Much different than Alice, Aeolus, Suka, and Yang. Would they one day suffer the same fate? "Good." Jin said, clasping his hands together as he watched the three in front of him dine. They were mere soldiers for the time being. Mere children willing to listen and do as they were told. This would be good for Jin, but a part of him wished that they would possess the more troublesome trait of being more inquisitive. They didn't care if they had blood on their hands? They didn't care as long as they got paid? That would make them no better than the cold hearted killers on the streets. "Then eat up, guys. Enjoy your feast for today--Uncle Big Toe prepared this all himself." Jin forced a smile, looking at the three. He took a few steps to the side and waved his hand down the corridor. "Yang! Someone get Yang! This is a good time for her to meet these people." |

Out the back, two of the Garden's wait staff were smoking after finishing their soup broth. "Man, if we don't get any real food soon, I'm gunna end up shitting thin air." "hey, look on the bright side, maybe you could end up with a figure like that Angel chick." "Are you shitting me? She gets like that from only eating the steam from the soup." There was a pause between them as they both took a drag. One flicked his dart to the ground and said, chuckling at his own funny thought; "Oh kek. Yeah. Because she's got no self-es-STEAM. Am I right?" ![]()
~*~ Jin's reserved table was looking lively as the fresh meat from the other uncles recieved their orientation. Just as Jin had been calling out for Yang she froze while standing a few tables behind Jin. Two waiters in each of her hands, being held firmly by the earlobe. She huffed and tossed the boy and girl away from her, a bit upset that she was interupted only a few moments away from punishing them. "I'm here, what do you want from me?" she spoke, rolling her eyes. Yang was never really one to treat Jin with too much respect, but she realised she'd better set some kind of example for the new kids. "I'm sorry, I'm in a bad mood." Yang batted her long lashes feigning innocence, before she caught a glimpse of Steve. "Hey Side-show. Glad you could make it." She spoke with a voice dripping with sarcasm. She leaned over at Jin and whispered, "We're fucked." |
