#9: 68 - Machamp - used in battle 198 times!
#10: 143 - Snorlax - used in battle 193 times!
#11: 242 - Blissey - used in battle 186 times!
#12: 135 - Jolteon - used in battle 180 times!
#13: 260 - Swampert - used in battle 171 times!
#14: 437 - Bronzong - used in battle 165 times!

#19: 65 - Alakazam - used in battle 135 times!
#20: 6 - Charizard - used in battle 134 times!

Gengar is the top Pokemon in terms of usage on Netbattle at this point. This is not surprising, considering its versatility and its status as the most powerful Ghost-Type, providing power as well as useful resistances. Interestingly, Tyranitar is #2. This is probably because its Sand Stream provides it a useful Special Defense boost, as well as its ability to counter many common threats. Garchomp is not as popular as it once was, but is still a huge factor, sitting at #3. Gyarados, another Pokemon formerly at the forefront of the metagame, is at #4, possibly due to its weakness to Stealth Rock, a common presence in today's metagame. Metagross is at #5, mostly due to its many resistances and high defense and attack. Rounding out the Top 10 are Salamence, Infernape, Lucario, Machamp, all heavy physical hitters, and Snorlax, a physical hitter plus special wall.

An interesting trend to note is that except for the #1, Gengar, all of the Top 10 is composed of primarily physical-attacking Pokemon, signaling that the D/P metagame is at this point commonly centered around several powerful physical attackers, with teams having more diversity when it comes to special attackers. Jolteon, Starmie, Zapdos, and Alakazam are the most common ones, but they don't enjoy the same popularity as Pokemon such as Lucario and Garchomp. It'll be interesting to see what happens with the addition of Platinum and with the addition of Cresselia into OU.

CATERPIE
Almost as good as Goddish
I don't see how you can draw any conclusions from these stats as they include other generations and Gengar is used a lot in ADV too, unless you split them without anyone knowing =/

Hey Oh

i agree with caterpie that these stats are rather useless until they are specified for each metagame.

Gengar is used slightly more because of its 70% hypnosis when it should be 60%. It is also a very popular poke in other gens.

Tyranitar is extremely common in adv as well as dp.

Garchomp is the first DP poke listed, and being used only 11 less times then ttar, it would be my guess that garchomp is unsurprisingly at the top or incredibly close to gengar being the #1 DP OU poke.

There was also not many battles that happened in the nbs server compared to other places such as pmnb. 311 uses really isnt much, im sure pmnb gets that in just a day, so these stats can be rather off.

Also without platinum added these tiers also dont mean much since two of the most popular pokes in dppt are salamence and scizor, and they would be way higher on the list then they are now. Scizor would probably move to top 3 from not even being on the list before.

So in conclusion nobody should take much from these usage statistics until platinum is integrated, and previous generations are not included in the statistics.

You should also take into account the fact that many people use Smogon tiers, meaning no Garchomp on their teams.

As others have already stated, these stats don't mean anything really, other than people play ADV a lot (Alakazam is so high while Azelf is just so much better).

In for the funny shit.
1st Priority: remove other gens
2nd: Platinum
3rd: Having the biggest servers (pmnb, battle citadel, stadium brazil, etc etc etc) sending their stats back to Bayleef, combine with official's, and release.

Cooler than you
I've already told you about my plans of start NetBattle's sole competitive community. Statistics and the opinions of the best players would helpt to determine a tier list, I say.

Gengar has kept its seat in OU throughout all generations. Tyranitar is no surprise. Garchomp itself is a powerhouse guaranteeing at least one KO.

The present DP NetBattle metagame is almost entirely offense-based. This is most likely the reason why former ADV players are having a hard time adapting to the transition ( using an ADV mindset and team ). The rise of Gyarados and Salamence have also made way for uncommon pokemon like Porygon2 to have some utility.

Wasn't a problem for me, I play DP for a year now and I was always used balanced/offesive teams, even in adv :P What I had to adapt was to not having stall teams as permanent opposition.
