I've always thought a prequel film about Fred Krueger would be interesting. Like, just what did he do to the children before he was burnt alive? Has potential IMO..
well, with how sensitive of that topic (harm to kids) has become with whities in the last 10 yrs or so, that's not going to happen now, is it tromie? :)
Exactly - How do you portray torture & murder to children while making it acceptable to screen while still being a good movie? Nearly impossible..
Any violence against children should be implied. It doesn't have to be, and shouldn't be, graphic. The idea of an origins story for Freddy Kruger, however, is a solid idea. Watching the first few of the Elm Street series I was wondering if there would be a flashback or something involving the parents killing this guy and making a pact to cover it up, but so far, nothing.
then it will just end up being PG 13
Nah, not if it's done right. The guy who redid The Evil Dead would probably be another good choice to do an origins story of Elm Street. Somebody make this happen!

I never cared for Freddy or Jason. Saw some of each series and never found them more interesting than meh. A lot of horror fans are super passionate about each franchise, I just never got into them. I preferred Hellraiser over both of these but only the first and second one were ok. As for the Phantasm series, none of them made a damn bit of sense but the olde man was scarier than Freddy, Jason and Pinhead combined.
The Tall Man FTW! Hellraiser and Phantasm are among my very favorite film franchises.
Clive Barker wrote me a very nice letter years ago. I still have it somewhere

I like, and collect autographed first editions of books. A few years ago, for authors who don't travel, I contacted through their publishing companies to sign some book plates for me to put in my books. Every one of them wrote me back a very nice letter of thanks. Some, we had discussions about their work. My fav was horror author Graham Masterton who wrote the Manitou; he went out to his garage in England and dug out a copy of one of his out of print books and sent me to complete my collection. I forget what Clive and I talked about....it might have been his books of blood or Cabal.

I'm pretty sure I have a signed copy of Romero's Dawn of the Dead novel. It was basically the screenplay converted to novel form.

That's really cool, Cbear. Author's, even big name author's, seem pretty agreeable with interacting with their fans. My wife has had similar interactions with some of the writers she likes and my son too when he was a kid.

I've got an autographed copy of HR Giger's Necronomicon. It is also signed by Salvador Dali. Not sure why or how that happened. It was given to me as a gift.

I believe the 2010 remake is the only one that touches on it a little bit...
Umm... watch Freddy's Dead the Final Nightmare.

I bet I can help with that. Jodorowski was going to direct Dune originally and it had an interesting cast of characters including Dali. Giger was doing the sets which predated Alien. So, to have both autographs I bet it came from the Dune movie where somehow both guys were around and autographed it.

Your welcome.

You have a keeper there. Dali signed a ton of stuff, no idea about giger. You need to get the Dune documentary on Jodoworski, it may fill in some blanks on the time period of your copy.
