Another horror great bites it. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre still hasn't been topped, and I personally liked Lifeforce a lot even for what it is, though it should've been much more if they hadn't ran out of budget. Poltergeist is also good. RIP

I can't believe there haven't been any replies on this thread or that Cbear hasn't created a competing thread with the same title.

Some of my favorite Tobe Hooper flicks:

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre- The first time I saw this movie was on late night TV when I was a teenager. I was gobsmacked.

Lifeforce- Worth watching for the extended nude scene of the female alien vampire.

Dance of the Dead- This was an excellent Master's of Horror episode based on the Richard Matheson short story.

Invaders From Mars- Very cool 50s style B Sci-Fi flick.

I don't think Ive ever seen the full chainsaw, subject matter not appealing to me. Life Force was interesting. I didn't know he directed Salems Lot which is one of the best made for tv horror movies ever.

You didn't find the subject matter appealing? Who watches horror movies for their appealing subject matter? WTF, Cbear?!? WTF?!?

Still bummed by this one, but it certainly wasn't surprising. Frankly I'm amazed that a guy who chain smoked cigars and double fisted Dr. Pepper for decades lived as long as he did.
