At first I was like  but then I saw Eli Roth was the director and that could be interesting. The Bronson film was a classic. I never really cared for Willis but in this role he might be good. I'll definitely check it out.

I really dont remember the original but that was my thought too. I think its more because it's Bruce Willis. Needs someone with a more serious feel to it, a good vengeance film to me is Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon, thats more of the feel I wanted

You mean Death Sentence which was based on the book that was the sequel to Death Wish!!

Yeah this looks terrible for being Death Wish. The lighting is way off, should be really dark, should be gritty. No humor. And while I don't usually kill trailers, AC/DC just doesn't spell Death Wish.

Sorry. Plus Bruce, just plays Bruce now.

They didn't take so much from the original Death Wish as they did the later crappy sequels. The original is a dark, gritty character study which Bronson and producers were never able to recreate as they threw in more and more action. Willis has skipped the darkness to turn it into a big action movie. Walken would have been great in the role--to bring the proper gravitas. If you want someone younger, get the guy who played Magneto; he would keep it serious. Death Wish should be a "small" movie, not an action blockbuster.

So many great revenge movies: Payback (Director's Cut), The Last House on the Left (remake), I Spit on Your Grave (remake), Braveheart, Kill Bill, Hang Em High... There was an Australian movies some years ago, The Horseman or something, that was really good and really brutal.

I agree about Deathwish. It was a dark film made during a time when crime was out of control in New York. Bronson always brought a gritty realism to his roles. The remake will probably suck.
