Where is the first openly gay superhero? Imagine a really flamboyant camp gay superhero kicking ass and dropping super gay one-liners. That might actually feel fresh in todays over crowded superhero movie swamp.

They've done a few on TV. Particularly on the CW. The Ray and Mr. Terrific are gay. White Canary is bi. On Black Lightning, his oldest daughter is a lesbian.

Boseman is on cover of Newsweek, cover story of historical impact of movie.

I suspect another culture is soon to start publically questioning where their Marvel mega movie is? Hollywood being the opportunists that they are, are probably scouring comic books to fill that niche. To you comic fans, does that character exist?

I mean, later this year, you're going to have an Aquaman who is half-Polynesian. Granted, Atlantaneans will be portrayed as Caucasian-looking beings, but Aquaman himself will resemble a man of Polynesian heritage far more than his white heritage. We know that his dad, a Polynesian actor, will figure into the story. You'd hope that the progressive movement would appreciate that moment of the limelight for the Polynesian community, but as I've suggested in the past, I fear that too many in that movement are only concerned with the Afro community and [white] women sometimes.

Black Panther was great, by the way. Top 4 MCU film for me, most likely. It has a level of worldbuilding that transcends the superhero genre. Too many compelling themes to count: the debate about the morality of isolationism, the conflict in one recognizing the sins of their heritage, adherence to tradition and beliefs in the wake of technological advances, the contrast between blind patriotism and loyalty to the spirit of your nation.

Also, Killmonger is the best MCU antagonist since Obadiah Stane. The only thing that really held it back for me was the predictable final third of the movie and what felt like a truncated ending. It felt like it wrapped up way too neatly once the climax went down. Other than that, a wonderful film.

A fair criticism. While I think you are on to something, I'm not sure how much push Aquaman would be getting regardless. DC is stumbling all over itself right now. When it comes to US, it always seems to be about Black and White. Partially to due to our history and partially due to South not being able to let go it. You'd think Confederate generals were saints if you didn't know any better....but I don't want to go off too far on that tangent.

The DCEU can do just fine when it has a legitimately good movie. They crushed it with Wonder Woman, but then they went right back to a hasty ensemble movie that was subsequently sliced and diced in post-production to the point where it nearly beyond recognition from the original vision.

James Wan is a stud of a director, and a solo outing is far easier to get right. I trust that Aquaman will be good, same with Shazam!

I thought the Rock being half Samoan was common knowledge at this point.

If you were shorter and had the surname Kim, I'd think you were this guy based on that remark.
