You can factor it it sure, but again your point is it’s featuring black people so black people are the reason it’s doing so well? If that’s not your point I don’t know what it is. |

Dr. Strange, Ant Man....The Avengers NEVER got the media push that BP has. I'm not sure any movie of any kind has had the media push that BP has. Star Wars gets a lot of publicity, but the media didn't push it as a must-see cultural revolution. It was being declared the best super hero movie ever made BEFORE anyone saw it. The last time there was a media anointing of this magnitude was a guy named Barry.. Marvel literally barely even advertised BP. I saw more footage of the Panther in the car commercials than I did in Marvel advertisements. Its been an amazing study in marketing phenomena. And as far as a game changer, yes Hollywood will copy it to death hoping for a fraction of the success, but will the media create the same hype-tsunami? I doubt it. They will have moved on to the next thing to beat to death. |

Namor would be cool. How could they never get FF right though? FF, Doom, Galactus are iconic, should have been a slam dunk. |

Not well known enough. It wouldn't make as big a rumble through hollywood as Clark Kent. Hell they could even play off of the comic when Superman "died" and had 4 supermen and Steel was one of them. |

I think Black Panther has gotten the media push without trying to game the system. Your right about how the film had minimal advertising or media presence up until the early reviewers started to watch it. From there it became a positive feedback loop. Using a sports analogy, Black Panther's success is like that of an unremarkable 5th round draft pick who got called up from the minors and out of nowhere started setting scoring records. Disney / Marvel is like the coach who suddenly realizes they have a superstar where they weren't expecting one, and immediately puts that player on the starting lineup. Once Disney saw that they had something remarkable on their hands, they certainly started to advertise the hell out of it. END COMMUNICATION |
