Finally got to see it today I dont know, maybe my expectations were too high. It wasnt bad but it wasnt great either to me. I mean it wasn't like I didnt enjoy it but it still felt meh I kept hearing how great Michael B Jordan was and I didn't see the hype. The walking dead chick and the sister I thought stole the movie. |

Coogler needs to relax with this Oakland shit. I'm from the bronx and its a lot better than Oakland but I still wouldnt be putting it in every movie I make if I was a director. |

the Wakandans weren't. why did he have to address them in "hood", especially when he's going after the kingdom.

no joke, ive seen him do interviews like messing around with accents. I'm sure he could pull it off. Marvel reinvented Downey Jr, they shouldve helped out SNIPES |

Not sure right now. They've changed things up so much. In the comics M'Baku, Nakia, and Klaue are all villains. They've changed up a lot. In the comics M'baku (Man-Ape) was a constant adversary to T'Challa. He's actually on the Wakandan council at the end of the movie and given how well received he was by the audience, I don't expect a heel turn. I really don't see them going with Man-Ape as the antagonist. They keep the theme in the movie. They just called him buy his given name for obvious reasons. Nakia is a far bigger change. In the comics she's younger than T'Challa. She's in the Dora Milaje. Actually, Okoye and her are contemporaries. Both Okoye and Nakia are interested in T'Challa but he's not interested in them. Okoye moves on. Nakia becomes obsessed with him and actually tries to murder his girlfriend. She is effectively exiled and becomes the villain Malice. She's nothing like this in the movie, so I don't see this happening. Klaue is the closest to his comic counterpart. Losing his arm, stealing vibranium, are all sourced from the comics. However for reasons that are obvious. He can't be the next antagonist. Unless they somehow go with his second comic form.....don't see that happening. So who could they go with? I think Namor would be the best bet. He is the King of Atlantis. He and T'Challa have clashed in the past. Actually clashed is putting it likely, Namor killed thousands of Wakandan's with a tidal wave. I'm sure they've make him more of anti-hero in the MCU. Probably a less severe version of Killmonger that could be a hero in his next appearance. Namor would give Marvel an opportunity to expand the MCU. It would introduce Atlantis. Namor, although Atlantean, is drawn with Asian features. Brian Tee actually campaigned for the role a couple of years back. Main issue with Namor is their are rights issues with Universal. I belive there are similar to the issues with Hulk. So as long as he in someone elses movie, Marvel shouldn't have to cut Universal in on the profits. Outside of Namor, the pickings are slim. Two of Black Panthers major villains are off the table and few others aren't villains in the MCU. They could introduce the White Wolf but he really isn't a villain. Hunter ,White Wolf, is T'Challa's adopted older brother. His parents plane crashed in Wakanda. Only he survived and he was adopted by T'Chaka. Because of his heritage, he was white, Hunter was ostracized and a bit of outcast. Despite that he was completely loyal to Wakanda and T'Chaka made him the head of the Wakanda secret police, the Hatut Zeraze. When T'Challa became king, he disbanded the Hatut Zeraze because he didn't approve of their brutal tactics. They became mercenaries but remained loyal to Wakanda. T'Challa has had several run ins with other major villains like the Dr. Doom and the Skrulls. However they aren't BP exclusive. I hope they go with Namor. We'll see what they actually do though. I wouldn't count on a Black Panther 2 until 2020 or 2021. I only mention 2020 because of how much money this movie making. I think they'll fast track a sequel. Marvel likes money. Would they really go with making Namor a full-blown antagonist, though? I know he's more of an anti-hero, than anything, but I feel like swinging him in the villain direction is a bigger stretch than swinging him to a hero, where he can at least still be aloof and ruthless. |
