seen dave twice.. first time, was the show the next day after the infamous hartford show and he spent 70% of his set bashing that show and those people.. 2nd time i seen him.. i was 3rd row, center and it was prolly the funniest live set ive seen in person... he was up there for almost 3 hrs... when the show ended he kinda just sat on the edge of the stage and hung out for 20 mins or so... got a chance to meet him and talk to him for a sec... ultra cool thing to do as for the special... the texas show was funnier to me and more vintage chappelle... it had more laughs for me... the la show the crowd was trash and the laughs were alot fewer but the build ups were brilliant between both shows, he used a handful of jokes from both shows i seen him at but mostly new material hyped for the all new show later this year.. if he comes around again or does the tour with rock ill be there no doubt dude is a legend period |

so the netflix show was like an hour. how long were the other live shows ante? u said 3 hrs for one of them. when i went to see DL hughley yrs ago, that show went for like 2 hrs plus. so do they keep these live shows going for 2 hrs or more so that they can cut out whatever they need to cut out when they release the vid? |

think it just depends on the comedian, the tour, the venue, the crowd... after the hartford show you could tell he wasnt feeling like doing shit... he did maybe 45 mins... an hour max and most of that wasnt telling jokes.. just ranting ive seen a bunch of other comedians as well... and i would say most shows are an hour to 90 mins... like i said in the other thread i saw charlie murphy, the first time he did maybe 90 mins or so.. the next time he was with a bunch of other comedians and did maybe 30-40 mins i think for the most part specials keep 80-90% of the show if not all of it... and most comedians do small city tours first to kinda hone in their sets, work and re-work material... i know kevin hart came to my town and did a small theater show before he went on a massive nationwide arena tour the following summer... |

I'm just glad to see you escaped DHK's basement. I was getting worried about Jake. |

DHK cannot oppress me Watched the two netflix specials and thought they were only ok. Funny in parts but never enough for a gut busting laugh. Edited by greatjake, Apr 16 2017, 02:00 AM.

I watched the first one. Thought it was good, but like Jake I didn't really have a burst out laughing moment. I think, since watching Killing 'Em Softly I've turned more towards dark comedy, like Frankie Boyle, Stanhope, Jeselnik, etc. I'm still gonna watch the second episode though. |

different material from the netflix show. i thought it was good like the netflix show, but not overly hilarious.the netflix show was better imo. there were two comedians that lead up to dave and one of them was very good. this mooselim dude named mohammed. the other, a blonde chick was ok. they even had Michael buffer do dave's intro to the stage. the bigger comedy of the night was the fucking idiots that grabbed the wrong seats which lead to confusing the other idiots who grabbed the wrong seats and this lead to all of them going back and forth looking for their seats after they realized that they were mistaken. overall, it was a good night. got to the see the ESPN boxing at MGM before this show at Mandalay. got to check out both venues in one day. i like MGM the best. Tmobile is great, but MGM is smaller and all the seats are closer to the stage/ring/cage.

yeah, i agree. the settings and the seats are more intimate to the center stage. and there are no bad seats. |
