Back in the old days here in the frozen tundra it wasn't uncommon to see the trucks that city workers use running constantly during cold snaps even while they were standing around doing nothing. Most were diesel which had a bad rep for starting in cold conditions. The other day I was taking the kids to Subway for supper. It was a hot day for early October. Somewhere around 20 degrees Celcius. On our way to the store there was a large, jacked-up diesel 4x4, with plenty of bling idling in front of the store. When we went inside a dude that looked to be barely 20 was getting his order. Seriously man? WTF? Must be some jack-ass with more $$$ than brains. Flash forward a week later and I'm at my son's soccer practice watching from the sidelines. A van pulls up and one of the kid's father gets out and walks over to talk to his wife. He leaves the van running. I figure he's just stopping in quick and taking off. Nope. Van stayed running for at least 30 minutes. Just not used to seeing that behaviour. First it was people who park on the side of a residential street facing the wrong way now this. If you got that kinda money to burn gas for absolutely no reason then you're either a NASCAR driver and a fuhkin' idiot or just a fuhkin' idiot. END COMMUNICATION |

The new symbol of status is taking the family to Subway for supper. Obviously McDonalds is beneath you. Congrats on being a 1 per center!
