Why doesn't anyone else think all these "new" super hero films suck complete shit? They are so bad and I'm sick of hearing about them. I feel like they're ruining movies in general. |

Just avoid watching the 4 or 5 super hero movies that release a year and watch the hundreds of other movies that don't have any thing to do with the genre. Edited by Darc Requiem, Apr 22 2016, 02:32 PM.

It feels like it's the cool, new thing to bag on superhero movies. Sure they're not all winners, but I'll take a mediocre superhero movie over no superhero movie at all. I hear people whining about so many of them coming out, but I'm pretty sure it's not mandatory to go to them so.... |

Its funny, I could say the same thing about remake's, but people get all bent outta shape. ... and it's also not mandatory to not watch the original once a remake is made. |

Agreed. Remakes don't bother me either. It's not as if a shitty remake invalidates the original. |

What people forget is that Hollywood goes through phases where it produces a bunch of a popular type of movie, and usually those periods and their movies are looked back on fondly even if all the movies weren't awesome. Spaghetti Westerns in the 60s, Dumb action flicks in the 90s, Fantasy/Sci Fi movies in the 80s etc. The latter 2000s are just going to be known for cranking out Superhero movies, and thats probably going to be ok. |

Agreed, but it feels a bit different with Marvel Studios. Where other studios like Sony or Fox are just concerned with cashing in on these characters, Marvel is more invested in the Marvel Universe, the storylines and the future of the brand. Obviously that's not to say that they aren't looking to make as much profit as possible, but where other studios can simply dump these properties and move on to the next trending cash cow this is ALL that Marvel Studios does. You can't win everyone over every time out and some people just aren't going to care for what they do, but there's a segment of the moviegoing public who will always love and support these films. They're not all winners for me either, but it feels more earnest at Marvel and I'm willing to go along for the ride because I believe in the cinematic universe as a whole. |
