I have no idea who any of those people are. I know Ben Affleck - and I think he's a douchebag too. |

I just figured since he's an old Asian guy, you could rub one out while he talks down to you |

Is there anything more detailed of him talking about determinism? Personally, from the little I know about it, it seems like bullshit, but I am very uneducated on the specifics of determinism. |

I've never seen this video, nor have I heard much from him on the topic directly, so I don't know if I agree with him on it. I believe he appeals to determinism when discussing matters of free will. |

From the little research I've done on the guy since you called me an idiot Tallica, it seems that he never really argues one way or the other - just discussed them ad nauseum. I realizes he's "pro determinism" - but the arguements I've seen him make basically change the definition of what I've always thought Determinism was (could just be because I'm a retard on this subject) and skew it to - basically - a form of what I've always thought "Free Will" is. Not saying the guy isn't intelligent or anything - he obviously is - but I've never been interested at all in "intellectuals" who argue over things that - to me, at least - seem pointless because they get so nuanced that they lose sight of what the general argument is with the "common man". |

Ive been discussing thing with a young dedicated Calvinist and whoooo boy they are all about the minuscia. Only their brand of Christianity is acceptable and all other denominations got it wrong and hell bound. They turn purple railing against Catholicism. Its eye opening as to how modern, educated people can choose the extreme over moderation whether its Islam or Christianity |

Hopefully his words don't fall on deaf ears, but even the news anchor only intervened when he implied Islam was NOT a religion of peace. The anchor interjected and made him clarify, which he did backtrack about. Hopefully, his words make clear what we've been saying in this thread and the other thread as well. Unfortunately, I'm sure he'll be in fear of his life for what he said. |

http://www.pewforum.org/files/2013/04/worlds-muslims-religion-politics-society-topline1.pdf page 58 suicide bombing question been seeing people quote the pew poll without reading it when you say only 15% of turkey supports suicide bombing that's not really accurate. that's how many often or sometimes support it. i would include rarely in that category, since i never want to be bombed (not rarely). that number is actually 30% indonesia 19% malaysia 36% they're all in there on that page along with the other ones but you'll have to dig |

I hate anti-religious arguments, because they never get to the core of the issues. No matter how smart an argument is framed or correct it is, if the target of the argument is wrong, it solves nothing. It's like putting a bandaid on the arm that doesn't have the wound. Yes, the bandaid will help, but if you put in the wrong place, what's the point? Edited by HugeMMAFan, Oct 23 2014, 02:22 AM.
