The ranch of Henry Thomas shares a border with the Cemetery which is obscured from view by a thick line of trees that Thomas has left intact. An area roughly 100 yards squared has been cleared from the thick pine forest and tufts of grass struggle to grow through the pine needles that still linger on the ground.

Roaming around this desolate gap between the trees are five hardy goats, two males and three females, belonging to Henry. They are not friendly animals, and will bite without provocation.

Mr. Thomas has built a very crude shed at the side of the clearing closest to the cemetery for him and his animals to sleep in. It is nothing more than four walls of badly cut wood and a sloping roof. There is not door or lock, but it holds everything that Henry doesn't carry with him each day when he works his land or wanders into town.
