[???] Snakeface craned his neck to look behind him as the sound of stirring cats reached him. "Hush," ordered the leader upon hearing Skunkstripe's cheer. He leaped over the grass and into the camp, tail high. "We mustn't be too loud less the dogs find us. It seemed the tom had quietly accepted their new role as prey. Though it seemed unnatural to him that cats should hide and run, he was unwilling to risk killing any of them in a brave and damned attempt at confidence. He noted Fox's departure and silently wished the tom good luck. He didn't want to lose a warrior today. Hawkmask twitched his wide paws as sunlight finally streamed through the den he slept in, and painted a dappled beam over his face. He snorted roughly and sat up quickly. "Huh! Mmnh!" He cleared his throat and looked around. UH! He overslept! Snake probably thought he was useless and left him to sleep! Hawk bristled from head to tail, sprinting into the clearing and yowling around for Snakestar. "I'm not useless!" He continued on about it, trampling through the outside of the camp when he noticed Snake wasn't there. Only when the bound out with stubbly legs did he meet Snake, and a few cats he didn't yet know. His tail fluffed out fully now he bowed his tiny back and stumbled back a few paces. "What?! What what?! Don't come no closer!" Riverside prowled grumpily through camp, head low and eyes set straight ahead, not once stopping to spit an insencere 'how are you' at his clanmates. He'd been aware that Shadowclan had been recruiting new members after the predators started going batshit, but he'd never given though to getting to know the newbies. It wasn't worth his time; he had far more important things to do, like maintaining his antisocial disposition. Old habits die hard. Over all, things had gotten a lot better for the half blind tom after his time as a rogue. He hadn't caught whiff of Marsh or his lackies, and that was enough for him -- but then there were the dogs; he supposed if he had to choose between being dismembered by dogs or facing the Big Bad General, he'd choose the former. Grumbling, he flopped on his side and twisted his head over his shoulder. Sigh, on second thought having nothing to do was driving him crazy. "Hey Snake. I'm bored, give me something to do." he practically ordered as he leaned towards the crowd. He still gave no attention to his... clanmates... these cats were kind of sorry-assed, but at least they weren't sociopathic murderers. Skyleaf padded around carelessly, head held high. Her tail flicked behind her absently as she looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings, lips curling into what seemed as a faint smile, that is, until she scented others. Only seconds later she lowered herself down into the grass, hoping to go unspotted. She continued to stay still, watching the other cats intently. Then a faint hiss escaped her lips as a small mouse scampered right in front of her muzzle, which was probably loud enough to be heard. Slowly she picked her head up slightly, so only her head was showing, as she glanced around nervously. Snakeface, to his credit, kept his face fairly neutral even as Hawkpaw exploded in a rather loud fashion. "Hawkpaw," he greeted with a serpentine smile. "There's no need to be so loud. Redfoot has taken the morning patrol. Perhaps today we may train..." The tabby's words trailed off as he noticed Foxflame's return. The single mouse was a small but welcome addition to their fresh-kill pile. With the heightened number of predators, the cats' prey were quickly becoming sparse and it reflected well on Foxflame that he was able to find a catch so soon. At the call of the half-blind warrior, Snake only smiled. He was used to Riverside's behavior and was confindent that he could manage the other tom. "Why don't you train my apprentice?" With a wave of the tail, Snakestar beckoned the two forwards. "I have business. Skunkstripe, with me." The leader turned and prowled out to where he'd heard a sound. Sweeping his gaze across the area until he spotted the grey head. "Greetings," he purred with a smile. Skunkstripe: frowned as Riverside practically demanded their Clan leader to give him something to do. She flashed a look of pure venom at him, and stood up, stretching her aching limbs. One cracked, and she lashed her tail a bit just to move it. Her ears flickered and her nose quivered, and she decided it was safe to go hunting. Skunkstripe padded along, out of camp to see if she could hunt, and padded off, only to bump into Skyleaf. A loud mix of a hiss, a growl, and a snarl escaped her lips, and she lashed her tail, this time in furiousity rather than an excuse to move it. She realised her leader wanted to keep calm, and she stopped, blinking her green eyes in curiosity. Hawkmask bristled again. "What!?" He screeched. "I'm not training with him! He's not my mentor, he's just an ugly old crow! What you think I can't handle you? You think I'm only good enough for the elders. Just admit it!" He spot. Clearly the former kitty-pet didn't understand how appalling it was you bark and yap at the leader of the clan. "-I-" He put strength behind the I. "Re-FUSE! To train with him." He bunched his chest out proudly and spun around. "I'll show you! You, you you! I'll bring back a prey so big you can't even fit it in your- little- tiny- little mouth!"Heatedly, Hawk scampered off into the undergrowth after that. Riverside's ears lay flat on his head as the ex-owsla rose to glare at the apprentice. "Elder?! You fucking blind kid?" the cat snapped, unfamiliar with the odd cat insults that these forest cats just loved to spew out of their mouths. His claws dug into the earth and he bristled, quietly stepping after the apprentice as he sassed off with his back turned, then dashing forward as he drew close. This kid needed to learn some respect, and by damn if anyone had learned how to kick some ass, he had. The hard way, as proof by his scarred neck and face. The muscular tom would lurch across the ground like a tawny bullet, head low to bowl right into the house cat's flank. With trained mind and battle-hardened muscles, the cat would likely easily overcome the asshole kittypet. If, however, the younger managed to dodge, he would countinue forward, twisting and bolting accordingly to dip his head under his belly and tip his balance with a hoist of his skull. Damn brat, just because he had a few scars didn't mean he was old. Skyleaf'ears flicked at the sound of a voice addressing her. She stared at the tom with her sky-blue eyes in curiosity. "Evening." She replied in soft and slightly frightened tone. She was about to step out of the grass, and more into the open, until another cat bumped into her, making her fur bristle all over. A loud menacing snarl escaped her lips, and she backed away from the she-cat that stood in front of her. Her features seemed to soften as the she-cat seemed to calm down, but she didn't change her stance, and her ears stayed pinned against her head. She glanced at the tom who had spoken before, and then back at the she-cat, unsure of what to do. Snakeface scowled as he heard the scuffle behind him. Honestly he should have expected the two tomcats to butt heads but perhaps he could work it to his advantage. If anything, Riverside was, in a way, training the younger cat. Besides, Hawkpaw would have to face real battle sooner or later and Riverside had been through plenty of battles to make this real enough. If it went too far, Snake would intervene. "Pardon my warriors," he said to her with an apologetic smile. "With all the foxes and dogs chasing us around, tensions have grown high and tempers cut short. I am Snakestar and this is ShadowClan." He paused and looked at her expectantly. Hawkmask felt the undergrowth behind him tremble in commanding rage. A dead give-away. Hawk scrambled around blindly in the looming grass and bush though, trying to predict where the tom was going to strike. He crashed through the bushes and slammed into the backside of Hawk, sending him spinning around in the spot and stumbling to the ground. "Hrmphm. Come and GET SO-" He flinched when seeing the larger cat bolting round and pushing his head up under Hawk to send him flipping back into the clearing. He landed with a thud and didn't get back up for a few moments. When he did though, his white fur was matted with dust and he was panting. "What?! You think that will make me take back what I said!? Go lick yourself ugly!" He stumbled to one side, then to his other, finding a balance with legs slightly spread to keep himself up. Hawk blinked his eyes a few times to clear the daze away. A defiant hiss was sent at where he assumed River was now. Riverside, however, wasn't going to wait for the apprentice to recover. He was ordered to train? Fine. He'd train the little bastard. While the kittypet was trying to regain balance, the ex-owsla would leap on him again, taking advantage of his daze to lower himself fluidly to the ground. Skimming beside the kittypet, he would shove him once more to the ground with his shoulder, huffing with aggrivation. Kid was lucky he wasn't a killer like the rest of Them, else he'd be ripping his throat by now. If the kit fell, he would pivot on his front paws and leap on him, placing one paw on his head and another on his neck to keep him still before literally sitting on him. Little fucker. On the other hand, if the kid got lucky and managed to dodge, River would keep to his flank and dole out a harsher punishment by snapping his jaws briefly around his lower tail. Snakeface skips also since snake's only paying attention to sky right now] Hawkmask stumbled forward, rolling over himself. He was not defenseless though, even if inexperienced. When River moved around to pin Hawk, The apprentice reached up with claws unsheathed and swiped at River's face. He had also not yet been taught the important rule of keeping your claws in when battling your own clan. Weather or not River was hit, Hawk was likely to be pinned in the end, and sat on. The apprentice grunted and wheezed. "You're....n-ot...men-tor Hmmhf!" He tried to squirm under River, but no ground was gained. That didn't stop him from muffling insult into the tom's fur if he really was taking the time to cover every inch of Hawk in his pelt. Riverside wasn't expecting the kittypet to actually strike back, so when the cat managed to put a minor scratch on the hellhardened cat's face, he was mildly pissed. Grumbling, he kept his ass on the apprentice and rolled his eyes. "What the hell is a mentor?" he muttered, flicking his tail, "You fight, you learn, but I win this round." he would then lower his head to nip at the apprentice's neck and draw a little blood to show his victory before hopping off with a "Lesson one complete." Skyleaf watched the others with amusement mixed with slight horror. She turned to look at the tom, and let her lips curl into a small smile, "Well, it's a pleasure to meet you Snakestar; I go by many names, but most of all, Sky." She shifted a little bit, and glanced at the others, then back at Snakestar. She took one small step forward, and sat down, her long fluffy tail curling at her side, while she continued to watch the tom. Snakeface smiled. "The pleasure's mine." He noticed her gaze and assumed she was interested in the scuffle. "Fear not, it is only my warrior Riverside training our apprentice Hawkpaw. Hawkpaw will be stronger for it. Are you alone here, Sky? It's quite dangerous being in this forest alone." Hawkmask screeched at the scruff nip and seemed no less insulted by the male's closing words. "I'll take NO lesson from you old crow! I'd rather live by myself or-or! With the dogs!" He spat, stumbling to his feet as soon as he got the chance. He was determined to be bitter, to the end. "The only thing you taught me is how to claw a so called, 'warriors' face. Puh! I bet with even a little training I could send you in the elders den where you BELONG!" He bristled, but was panting softly, trembling with the idea that his words might get him another bap over the head. Hawk stalked out into the growth before he could find out if he'd be pounced again. Knowing the former kitty-pet, he'd eventually cool off and roam back as if he'd had no temper. Riverside was unamused by the kittypet's rambling, he'd lost interest. This guy was useless, the kind of cat he'd rip apart on any over circumstances. "Next time you talk like that, I'll take your ear." he grunted, hopping off of the kit, "Also, I'm only four years old, dumbass." Skyleaf's ears perked up when he spoke again, and gave a small nod, "I see." She said simply, eyeing the two others once again, and then she turned back to Snakestar. "Yes, I'm alone." She stated simply, tail flicking behind her absently as she studied him. Then with a questioning stare she asked him slowly, "Is that a bad thing?" |
