In the Neighborhood -- Melia AND Eva; ANYONE AND EVERYONE! I WANT FRIENDS!

Eva Speranza Borghese

I smile at my newest travel companion, the skinny little vampire Amelia. She's very nice, and loves animals as much as I do. I should make her an immortal version of all of her pets. That way it will be easier to handle when they die, as all of them will do eventually. I pause for a moment, wondering if it was possible to make animals into vampires. I laughed at the thought, earning a look from Amelia. She smiled in exasperation at me, rolling her eyes. Such a delicate face structure. I pat Bucephelus on the neck, sitting proudly on his back. Cerberus was trotting to my right, as far as he could be from Ame's pets without leaving my side.

She was riding to my left, on her pretty grey mare. Almasi, I think. She's absolutely gorgeous. I always admired the arabian breed, so fragile-looking. They hid their speed and stamina well. Of course, none of them would ever be able to run as fast as my Bucephelus. None of her hounds could ever keep up with Cerberus in the hunt, as majectic and regal as they were. I take my hands off of Cephy's mane, allowing him temporary control while I put my hair into a pony-tail. He doesn't take advantage of the chance to run, though I know he wants to. I can feel his tension.

The section of the forest we travel through is sufficiently clear, just enough for our mounts to navigate. Amelia and I are both dressed in old-fashioned riding clothes, mine in a green to make the trees jealous, hers in dark navy. We were out to hunt today, though in a more....civilized fashion. That was the purpose of bringing our dogs along, besides just to get them some excercise. Across each of our backs were our long-bows and quivers of arrows. Her wolfhounds knew the drill as well as Cerby did, their noses to the ground or in the air, trying to catch a scent. We were hunting, yes, but in style.

"I love this, don't you? Hunting in a fashion more suitable to us. Anyway, it's more of a sport like this. Less like butchering, more like...Grocery shopping. Then butchering."

----------------------------------------

It was easy to remain at ease with Eva. She was such a happy, laid-back personality. So few fears and weaknesses. Just...light-hearted and free. And she appreciated my style of hunting. Of course, it must have been easier for her, with her mount and hound. She could probably conjure herself up prey if she wanted. Of course, I had no doubt that she would consider such a thing to be cheating. I smiled at her question, nodding with a sigh. The air is so crisp and fresh here; just teeming with a glow of life. Such green, vivid beauty. I didn't even have to pretend at relaxation.

"Indeed. I believe the hounds are enjoying themselves immensely."

Suddenly the three hounds stiffen, and Almasi reacts in kind, watching them warily. I touch her neck lightly, bending to speak in her ear. Arabic flows from my lips with unnatural grace and ease, since it is my habit to train my pets in their native country's language.

"Steady, friend. All is well. The hounds have their scent, and we give chase. Steady, my sister. We shall overtake."

She calmed, and Caedwyn and Maximus looked up at me. I turn to Eva, who nods with an anxiously excited smile. She is as eager as I am, as both of us can sense the deer nearby. Another benefit to this form of hunting was that no giving ourselves to the instinct was required. We remained in control at all times, so there was no danger to hikers. It made finding a hunting ground easier; no need to take sight-seers and hikers. If anything, they rather enjoyed seeing us pass. They were usually amused, entertained. I nod back to her, then face my hounds. My voice takes on the characteristic Welsh accent, and only one word ever leaves my tongue. Only one word is needed.

"Helwriaeth."

They take off, flying over the ground. My hounds are fast. Eva's is faster, though he is more easy-going. Like us he is smarter, though equally dedicated. Though he is at the lead, I know he isn't running his fasted. This hellhound has vampire speed, for that was how Eva made him to be. I consider her power for a moment, briefly consider asking her to create for me the vampire counterparts of my companions. That would be quite nice, to not have to replace them every so often. Our steeds take chase, and I am lost in the thrill. Both Almasi and Bucephelus know to follow the hounds, so our hands are free. Eva and I both press against our mounts' necks, urging them on. Her kelpie needs no urging, of course. from this position I reach to my back, as does Eva. We are approaching the target not, a herd of deer. The hounds lead true. I grab my bow and quickly arm it, hearing Eva do the same. We take aim, each at our own targets. Loosing our arrows at speed known only to our kind we take down two each. For our pets. The hunt is good today.

I new scent catched my attention, and I turn to Eva. A vampire, or a human. I can't sense fear, so either a vampire, or a human that didn't see our little firing squad. I turn to the woods, waiting. That is all we can do now.

Get Lost in my Eyes
I had been running for a little while, I loved running in the woods, the ground felt somewhat soft on my skin. I couldn't help but laugh out loud! no one could hear me! I suddenly stopped dead in my tracks. A new sound and a new scent. I took a deep breath in, to take in the scent. I decided to follow it. I activated my gift, I was now invisible, and ran towards the new scent. I could now hear people talking. All of that stopped when they got my scent. I was invisible, yes, but my scent was still very present. When I saw my two mysterious persons, I saw two vampires. Two female vampires. I revealed myself. They seemed surprised to see me appear in front of their eyes.
"Hey!" I said loudly at the two. "I'm Olivia-Ann Streep." I added with a smile. I loved making friends.

I pull up sharply on Almasi's reins, watching this new girl warily. I poke around her fears and weaknesses for a moment before I'm assured. She's like Eva. Just another happy, friendly vampire that wants to make a new friend. Eva is the bold one. Already Bucephelus is approaching the girl under Eva's guidance. I follow with caution, though my smile is warm and friendly. It always helps to be on edge.

As Eva dismounts I follow, watching my friend now. She's bright and happy, unaware of anything but the present. She's lucky to be so resistent to fear. I don't just feel my own; I feel the fear of others as well. As we approach her -Olivia-Ann- I warm up to her a little. It's hard for me to stay so tight around someone so open and innocent. It's like trying to hate a baby.

----------------------------------------

This one seems so...happy. She even smells of happiness. I stick out my hand, a smile stretching my face. I'm glad Amelia is being open. Well, trying. But I know it's hard for her. I smell lots of different things, but fear is a major one. She smells of fear often when we're confronted with other campires. I sense that something bad happened to her, something involving our kind that makes her scared of them. This is something I understand. Now I can help. I feel no fear around her.

"Pleased to meet you, Olivia-Ann. I am Eva. Eva Borghese. These are my pets, Cerberus and Bucephelus. They won't hurt you. Were you hunting, too? Or just running?"

Cerberus is the one to get closest to her, his ears perked. My massive, shaggy black dog. His eyes burn with literal fire, bright crimson. The only things to soften his appearance his appearance are the perked ears and lolling tongue, his panting rapid. Not from short breath but from happiness. Best part about my dog is that he doesn't smell of dog. He smells of fire and of forest, but never of dog. I hear Amelia stop at my side, see her warm smile. Her hounds stood quietly at her side, patiently panting out of exertion.

"And I am Amelia Vidrovich. Do not mind Maximus and Caedwyn. They are not dangerous to our kind like Cerberus. They are just normal dogs."

I laugh softly. She's made a joke! The laugh, however soft, shakes my body a little, crinkling the corners of my eyes. My eyes that always smile even when my face doesn't.
