Well, There is plenty to be said, about pretty much everything in the eye of a member. Well, to start i guess its safe to say, most people are looking for the "right" clan to join, that fits there every needs. This is sadly, but true, not going to happen to most people. You have to learn and know the bad, before you can grab hold of the good and the great. The first clan you generally join isnt often the best clan, or the clan you stay with for life. And this also goes for creating a clan. Generally, the first clan you join is the clan you learn your basic actions in the clan world of the game. Yes, there is much more to learn after the basics, but you start with nothing and work your way up. My first clan was Tunescape. I was in this clan for a few months, and i thought it was kickass. but after awhile i noticed that i just didnt fit in. I had learned the basics, and i knew more then what i did before about the clan world. And because of this i could see that this clan wasnt for me. I left on a good note, not because i hated the clan, but because i strived for more, as most people do. I later joined The Overdrive clan. I actually stayed with this clan for about a year or so. And i can safely say, i enjoyed it for the most part, but when it came to the end, i could notice again, that this clan wasnt right for me. I once again wanted more. and i needed to find more. so i left again on a good note, to find what i was looking for. And here i am, I found the clan Rune Raiders. I joined this clan knowing what to expect because of my past experience, and i knew what they would expect from me as a member of the clan. I learned more then i ever could with them, i gained my experience, and i learned from some of the finest leaders in the game. I grew off them, i feed off them. I knew it all, and it all made sense to me. On a more personal note, i was looking for a clan that had a healthy community, and i found it. The members are rich with experience and rich with enjoyment to be around. I can actually go as far as to saying, as much as i dont want to say it lol, that Rune Raiders were the first people, as a community, that i personally noted my Real life issues to, knowing what everyone else things in my actual life outside the game, and how much it outcasted me. The members of this clan, not only accepted it, they helped me with it. and they did what they wanted to do to help me feel better about myself. This is a important feature in anyones mind when looking for a clan, is to find the one that you can trust with your darkest secrets, and its members are there for you on hard times. If you can find this feature in your clan, then you are golden. If your going to join any clan, even the clan you plan on staying with for a long time maybe even for good. You need to be very dedicated. Yes, it is true that real life comes before runescape life. But you need to be able to help your clan with your own abilities. You need to take chances more then you used to, and you need to be ready to take action when needed. If you can speak up on your own thoughts about things or suggestions, then you are one step ahead of most. Heres a big one, Attitude. This place a HUGE role in the clan world and community. When joining any clan you should be going into it with a positive attitude of not only the clan, but yourself. You need to learn to respect Everyone, this helps bring a larger reputation to yourself, and not only makes you look better, but also you ARE better. If you can be mature about things, and keep calm with other clans and their issues towards whatever clan you join, or even you, then you are again, one step ahead then most. Losing a battle isnt the end of the world. I dont know how many times i hear people leaving clans because they lost to another clan. If your joining for ONLY power, and not respect, then you arnt going to find anything because every clan has their moments. Losing just means you have something to work on, and you can be apart of that by taking action into your own hands to help you clan out. When looking for a clan, i personally, was looking for not only the good community, but also for a rich amount of events, that expanded from both wilderness events to fun events. When view clans you should look at some of their past events, to see if it matches up to you. If you can find a clan that has the events or things you enjoy, then it is more then likely worth trying out, because in the end, you dont know anything untily you try. In my time with Rune Raiders, i moved from being a basic proud member of the clan, to becoming a Senior member, for dedication and activity. And then later growing into a warlord for a time being and trying out the skills i learened from my leaders, Which i have to say, i didnt do to bad at all. Anyone, who has the same mind set, can obtain what they want if they work at it. When you join your clan, ensure yourself that you are going to be willing to take everything 1 step further to show the other members and officals what kind of member you are. Cause personal experience is everything to a clan. Listening is a important key to being a member, and also good verbal skills. If you can listen to what others have to say, and this doesnt just mean the officals, then your doing a good job, and most or all clans will respect you for this. In a community, Every voice counts, even its members, and even yours. This is where your verbal skills come in handy. If you are able to think, and present thoughts about certain things that have to do with your clan, then others will notice this and follow or have self thoughts about the things they suggest. This creates a better community because everyone can communicate with each other on everyones topic and suggestion. This also gives you a chance to show the officals of the clan you join who you are. They will most likely take note of what you say, because its rare to see a common member speak up on his/her thoughts. But it is very helpful to not only you, but to them, and your clan. Be honest. Thats the best way to go. If your joining a clan and dont really meet its full requirements of rune sets or skill, then dont just make up some lie to work around it. This will only cause more trouble for you and will also make you feel a bit more uncomfortable around others. The best thing to do is to be honest with them. Tell them what they want to know, and most of the times, the officals will notice this and little to even no punishment or shame will be brought upon. The reason is because you told the truth, you werent afraid to say "Yeah, i dont have the rune sets yet, but i will soon". It shows you are dedicated, and you are making the effort for your clan. You might not agree to everything that is said or done in the clan you chose. Guess what..Tuff luck. Its life, you need to notice it, take note, and maybe even bring it up with a offical to show voice. If the offical is smart enough to listen, then he or she will hear you out and your thoughts about a certain subject or action. And maybe in the end a more positive result will relate to this so neither has to have a arguement. To make things easier, your a member of a clan, its your job to follow the ones who lead, even if it is the wrong choice. Just do it, it makes it easier. Its almost been three years and counting with Rune Raiders, and i have learned so much from all the negative and positive events in this clan. And im proud to say this is my clan, that i enjoy to be with. Sometimes my words and be stronger then my actions, and ill use that to my advantage with them. and it earns me some respect. This is something ALL people should be aware of when being a member of a clan. It takes time, and dedication. And there is sooo much more that i could post, and i might even post more on this topic as i get more time to. But knowing what you have read, can and will make a difference in being a member for YOUR clan. -Four02, Proud Rune Raiders Retired Member |
