* Hey Guys. Newg Here. Listen Here. I Can get cod4 for the pc faster if u can follow this...if u want 2... Looking for broken Xbox 360's !! Share Thu at 10:22pm Lol.. I'm actually looking for 360's to fix. Here is the Story & Cause. (will get technical) The cause of the 3 red lights is heat building up and causing the motherboard to flex (up & down) and cuts the signal from the power supply from flowing energy to the GPU and CPU chips. I have fixed my own 3 red light error by modding the x-clamps Microsoft used to secure the heatsinks on the motherboard. (The x-clamps when heated under pressure tend to actually work against holding the heatsink securely in place and instead lift it from the Chips). To cure the error I replaced the x-clamps with 10mm M5 bolts & nylon washers to protect & secure the heatsinks down. Also, I drilled 1/2" holes in the bottom of the steel mobo case to ensure that there wouldn't be any added pressure on the motherboard during system activity. Then I cleaned old thermal paste off of the chips and applied some new Thermaltake Silver Thermal Paste. I manually overheated the GPU chips while keeping the CPU cool for 15 mins. Powered down, let it cool for another 15 mins, then reassembled. Whalla! Booted up and played for the last 3 hrs with no prob. The only reason I say all this is because I'm serious when i say I can fix the "RROD" error in Xbox 360's. I figured if I explained the problem.. then it would make a little more sense.. or maybe not.. lol. So If you have a "Dead 360".. let me tinker with it for a day and i will have a good chance of having it up and running with no strings attached. I won't charge a thing if i can't fix it. If i can.. maybe $50. But it's better than having a $250 machine that doesn't work at all. Don't Let Microsoft Rob You Again! |

Microsoft will fix your xbox 360 for 100% free of charge if you have the RRoD error. They will even pay for the xbox to be shipped to and from you by sending a pre-paid box. Thats how i got mine fixed and mine was already 2 years out of the 1 year warentee |

Gotta love how M$ underengineered the x-360 and threw it out on the public in time to make an artificial deadline instead of waiting till it was READY. Sorry Mr. Gates, but the "Sell it now and fix it later" mentality does not work well in the hardware biz, just ask the U.S. auto makers. Even though I do not and will not own one of these things I have followed the ups and downs of the X-box on a web site called www.TheInquirer.net They were talking about the RRoD as a systematic hardware problem while Microsoft was still in denial. The X-box project has hemorrhaged billions of dollars without showing profit. Even if the X-Box 3 is a big success the losses from 1 & 2 are so great that M$ won't see much profit from the overall project. I have to hand it to you Newg for being able to fix these things. Congrats and I hope you do well with this. I will suggest though that if you really want to get some serious repair business traffic you should advertise on Craig's List or contact your local electronics retailer like Gamestop. Your price and no-charge-for-failure guarantee are about right in my opinion. |

the ps3 would be great if it wasnt 600 bucks for the non HD cable included version. Xbox is still on top since they are selling their core console less than the nintendo Wii. Give credit to microsoft for doing a lot of things right too. But lets not let this thread turn into another one of those console war threads. We can all agree that each console has their plus and minuses and that all around they are all winners. !!lol!!. Edited by ViceroyKarl, Jun 29 2009, 03:17 PM.

Purchased an XBOX 360 about a month ago from GameStop(used). It was giving me disc read errors every time I played it, but I opened it up and cleaned my TOSHIBA drive and wiped everything down with a Q-tip, and then lubed up all of the parts which needed to be. |
