The young girl lived a very fruitful and pleasant life as she grew, though she had issues with her older sister. Being four years younger made Karina fall behind her sister's shadow in many things. Such as Pokemon, sports, surfing and even capturing men's hearts. She tried hard, quite hard, however her sister always seemed one step ahead, or stronger or faster, blowing the growing Karina out of the water of the competition. Growing up in a surfer's town, meant that there were plenty of young vibrant and attractive males around part-taking in two of the local sports: surfing and Pokemon battles. Karina's parents were never very partial to owning Pokemon and wanted neither of their daughters to involving with the creatures. That meant that they could only participate in the other sport of surfing. And while Karina thoroughly enjoyed the watery sport, her sister always seemed to be better than her at it, and better at attracting the hearts of those young beautiful males eariler. Karina, who was never very boy-crazy or that involved with the opposite gender, had her heart set on one solid person from Dewford: The town's very own gym leader, Brawly. He was around the girls' ages, and known as a professional surfer, so both Karina and her sister knew him quite well. Karina herself always enjoyed being around his company, while never showing any obvious signs of attraction, and enjoyed surfing because of him. But it was only a short while ago, some time after Karina's seventeenth birthday, when all hopes of being with Brawly were dashed. Her sister had won first place in a surfing contest, one that had the gym leader confess his apparent love to Karina's sister. Heartbroken and shattered, Karina felt that her home felt different and foreign with thanks to her sister's constant achievements. Taking her savings, items and any other amount of money she had with her, Karina travelled to Slateport to take the next ship to the nearest region. Personality: The naive and sweetness of a young girl has almost completely disappeared for Kainra's disposition. With thanks to the events of her sister and the growing love for one single gym leader, any youthful traits that the girl used to have are gone, replaced with cyncism, sarcastic humour, and pestimistic behaviour. Though, it isn't that Karina was not like that all the time. Being hidden by the shadow of her far more attractive, athletic and charming sister, Karina never had much of a positive outlook on life. She was not suicidal, or moped about her life, but she always had a kind of tough, spunky, take-no-prisoners-or-I'll-mess-with-you attitude that she still has today, but to a lesser degree. That doesn't mean that Karina is heartless or hates people, she's just more hard around the edges and more difficult to get to know. She can be sweet and kind, when she wants to be, and brutally honest, even if the situation calls for liers as opposed to raw honesty. She likes people, so long as they don't cross her, though in terms of Pokemon, she has yet to know what to think about them, seeing as Karina was shetlered by her parents about Pokemon.
