Yeah, she just wanted to send it with me so they had buddies, as was going on about having to find it a home and how it's feathers were never going to grow in and she'd just give it away, but doesn't want to make her facility look bad. I jumped all over it and said that my guy was going to stay in the bedroom and never breed, they could stay buddies, she said ok. I merged their two smaller temporary cages into a bigger cage I cleaned yesterday. They have a heating pad (on the outside of the cage) in one corner and all sides but the front are covered to avoid draft. I'll see if my friend has antibiotics I can get off of her, I don't have any. I really should stock up a birdy medicine chest, but that requires being organized:) Lots of low down toys, dishes, roost proped on the floor (though they climb well) and millet. I have some seed soaking, though my birds don't like sprouts, they toss them. They'll accept a just barely visible tail root, but nothing long, unless it's already growing greens, then they still leave the roost. From behind they look like a couple of colorful button quail. Anyway, babbling, stgopping:)

The best sprouts to give the birds is NOT really sprouted but germinated only, which means soaked seed for min of 4 to 6 hours, rinse and serve. If u want a VERY SAFE way to continue to sprout for the next day, just put the soaked seed in the fridge barely covered with holes in the cover. They will continue to germinate in the fridge but will not mold. After one day in the fridge, I serve and then toss.

I usually soak over night, then rinse and serve, that way I don't have to remember to rinse it and they really like it.
