I know nothing about the first aid of a bird. Having said that should she be cleaning the wounds and what would you use. I guess she had to also give them some time to calm down so that the stress did not kill them. Only asking for knowledge, hoping I never have to use it of course, what are the things you can apply to stop bleeding, I"m always fearful Cappone the tiel will get a toe bit when he lands on Teamos cage, Cappone is pretty good these days but accidents can happen????

At this stage, I would not wash them or clean them. You would be removing a healing scab or blood clot. They look good, plenty of food, water, and LOTS of extra rest. Cover them earlier and uncover them later than normal.

I would use antibiotics in the water and that would be a good insurance against infection. They look better than I expected them to. So, I would not do anything at this stage. I think they will surprise u.

i Think i made it sound a lot worse and i was quite paniced at the time. I think a lot of it was all the blood just freaked me. I never was good around blood, unless it was coming from me hhah. Usually when i cut myself i just laugh it off, unless i can't get it to stop then i freak.

Lemon & Munch's toesies just look sooo sore.

Hi Enna , thats ok every one panics at times , I would just leave them now , as CBL said put the antibotics in the water but i would leave there little feet alone , you coud give them a light mist of water to help them clean them selves but i would not worry to much, most birds will learn quick to get around with only 1 foot and a toe or 2 on the other

Yup good idea Nat, just a mist and let the birds preen themselves.

Well it's been a while now. Both Munch and Bijou are using their feet no problems but that little lemon. i'm not sure he will ever use his the same again. He's learned pretty good on how to land with only 1 foot. Poor boy

I don't think It bugs lemon to much thought. He was born to fly and he proves that every day zipping around the room getting soo close to crashing into things and then zip, gone in another direction. He's my best flyer.
