I don't know how But 3 of the budgies got attacked my max (ally's senegal).

Lemon (aka Mr. Spangle Dude) is really messed up. Missing toes and he has a nice bite on his belly area. I don't know if he will make it honestly.

Munch has a missing toe aswell and a few missing toe tips.

Bijou just has the tip of one toe missing.

Max was locked in his cage. He did figure out how to open the side doors of his cage and i guess he got to open enough and these 3 budgies went in his cage. i walked into the room to find lemon ontop of a smaller cage we have lying around preening his belly. i noticed he looked odd and i saw a odd color on him. sure enough i saw his toes and screamed to ally. we turned out the lights and caught Lemon and put him in the smaller cage. Thats when ally Noticed Munch IN with Max. I ran over and grabed Max out of the cage and then checked Munch. Sure enough he was attacked to. Caught him and stuck him in with Lemon. Then as we were catching all the other budgies we found Miss Bijou with a bloody toe.

I feel so horrible. I just spent $225 on my conure baby and is broke as a dog till i gets a check i've been waiting a few days for. I'm not sure i want to bring them to the vet after what happened with a friends budgie. They put the poor thing to sleep and it wasn't nearly as bad at what Lemons foot is like in there.

Theres soo much blood gone from them. I saw drops of blood on the floor, lots on the cotten perch, some on the food cups and on the nature branch in the cage.

Of course, there all in there acting like nothing happened. I don't know what else to do with them. I have them in a smaller cage. Most of them have stopped bleeding. they have food and water and lots of millet.

Definitely not a good birthday gift. 4 more days and i'm going to be worried sick about them for days. Not even excited for my Gcc anymore.

hey Enna , ok first a big hug , second dont worry about the vet not much they can do for toes has the bleeding stopped ? I would make sure the toes are clean wash them with a disinfectant , have you got any antibotic powder ( people one will do ) like what you would put on a cut

now for Lemon , how bad is his belly ? if its only a small cut keep it clean as as for there toes if its a large hole then you are going to need a vet to stitch it up

and tell Ally that she need to put some locks on the cage.

oh gosh! that is scary! I can't imagine how awful a scene that must have been for you to see.
Nat has given great advice. Also put some general bird anitbiotics in their water bowl. Suggest keeping them warm and covered for a couple days.
I've got clips on all my cages as Boris figured out how to open her door.

All great advice and I will ad one more tidbit. Put sugar or honey in warm water and give a few drops to each bird in thier mouth. Then leave the water dish in with the sugar or honey. Change it daily and do this for a few days to give them the strength to stay strong. U would be surprised how many one legged birds or birds with dangling broken legs in the wild that do just fine. So a missing toe isnt so bad. The antibiotics are a necessity. So do get some, with warmth, sugar water, and plenty of rest, they should be fine. Keep that other bird away. Lock the cage and cover the top at all times in the event that the budgies go set on it. I keep my parrotlet cages covered on top 100% of the time. They can do sooooooooo much damage in such a short time. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks guys. Max has been degraded to a much smaller cage where the doors are impossible for him to open. I never knew how clever he was.

Lemons cuts on his belly don't seem to bad. Just enough to give a slight coloration to his feathers. Will take a better look tomorrow. Just going to let them all rest tonight. will try to get some pictures tomorrow but i don't want to disturb them.

Just feel so bad. This should have never happened. I was outside when it happened but i was right next to my room and i didn't hear anything.

Good news is All three made it through the night. Lemons toes are really messed. and Munch isn't to much better. Lemon got out of his cage this morning as we were giving him mash so hes in with the other budgies acting pretty normal. We are emailing Max's breeder. This bird is supose to we well socialized with other birds but to attack innocent budgies and i knows he would go after me tiels aswell i have to dis agree. He may even go after his own kind. i truly don't know.

The problem is most birds will be social out of their own territory. But did I not read that the budgies went on and into his cage. If this is the case the breeder will say he was defending his territory.

Be very careful mixing different sized beak birds. Can be dangerous as u have found out. I watched a friends Greenwing mccaw pick up her african gray by the wing and if I hadnt run over aggresively to the mccaw, I think he would have severed it. I have this on tape I believe. My aggresive behavior and charging the bird made him simply drop her to the ground with no damage. Lucky bird.

CBL I think you are right, we get used to our birds being tame with us and loving and friendly and I think we forget that they are birds and in certain situations will revert to instinctive behaviour. Nature is not always kind, in fact it is sometimes very cruel. So perhaps it is not wise to blame the bird but to realize as CBL said not to allow this bird to mingle with smaller birds. I guess the old Birds of a Feather saying is worth repeating.
