Hello, I was wondering if you can help Us. My son has a parakeet ( budgie) since Christmas. it is his first pet bird I have never owned a pet bird. I have raised just about everything else, like Dogs, cats ferrets, Guinea pigs. etc. but never a bird. he has noticed about a week or so ago that his parakeet 's beak is becoming deformed, the bird bottom jaw is larger than his top beak, and also is slanted to his side. he took the bird to a vet, which they clipped his nails, and I guess sanded ?? or trimmed his beak, but while they were doing that His beak started to crumble, Could the bird be needing some kind of vitamins, would you know what could cause that? I would sooooo appreciate any information about these cut little parakeets. as soon as you are able to. THANK YOU

they will try & send pictures

Sounds like it could be scaly face mite, but the vet should know that. If it is a bit brittle, I think you could offer more calcium or oyster shell grit. Also, r u giving the bird fresh greens and veggies.

Google what to feed my budgie and u will get tons of info.
