So far so good, I am using straw IN the loft and sand outside as the straw got soaked in the rain and I was afraid of mold. The bub is growing well and keeps jumping ship out of the nest, so I put a ton of straw on the cage floor and he nests beside the bowl. He is cute and squeaks for me when he sees me and begs for me. I think he has secondarily imprinted on me as I handled him every day for photos. S/he is so cute. Get this Tish, the secondary flights have all black trailing edge like ur one white bird lol, but not the primaries and I have to wait to see the tails but I think only the ones I mentioned but really cool looking! |

It wooden frame with wire bars that the birds push thru to get in, a one way door so they can come in but not out unless u lift the bobs and allow them access. Mine will have both ways and a landing pad and this will have a fine wire mesh to act as a critter proof barrier as well. Having two custom made as we speak. |

Well we finally secured the second loft for the hens and bubs. So I will be looking to see when I can clean and organize that side to put them in. Only thing left is to paint but can't do that till spring, so it is a bit dark in there. Then install the traps and were good to go. Finally secure the locks and latches as well, they were set tha we kept getting locked inside, I was trying to explain to hubby about it when he shut the door as ai was saying DON'T shut the door!!! So we got locked in again, I didn't want to break the latch on the door so crawled out the window. Lucky it wasn't frozen!! |

I'm sorry, but the picture in my mind's eye of you two getting locked in the loft was funny -- but only because you were able to escape without having to break anything. Better get those doors fixed soon ![]() Sounds like it's going to be a really nice place for the birds. Can't wait to see photos when you are able. |

I installed the string and the ring thru the wood already. So that should not happen again, but we do have it locked up like fort Knox. Still have to devise a way to have the interloft door open both ways. Now that the outer parimeters are secure, I can even have the two by four heavy frame removed and have something more workable. I also STILL have to remove the door off the walls and counter sink the hinges properly as they bind. They just thru it together like that cuz they wanted to finish and did not install them properly. I TOTALLY regret allowing them to cut a foot off the height of the loft to "get it to match" the front loft as I bang my head on entry, pissed me off to no end. Its not anything that I can change easily. I wish I knew ahead of time about that as I would NEVER have allowed it for "esthetic purposes" those guys are total assholes for forcing me to do that without explaining that it would be that short. JERKS!! Total pain. |
