Boy oh boy, Kosha is sure different than Tulip. Tulip would wander around the yard where we used to live and munch on grass. She never ever rooted up the yard. She never had any interest in going in the mud. Kosha is a major rooter. She's rooted up so much -- just rearranged things to her liking. She also like laying in the mud, LOL -- well, when it was summer she did. I'm going to have to take photos of where she's made a huge mess by rooting around. It's kind of funny to see how much such a little animal can make so much mess. |

Well....I guess here is where we are going to disagree. If I lived on a farm that would be great but coming home from work and having to fix a mess like that would not be for me. Also cats tearing down curtians, dogs tearing up furniture etc. Not for me. I wouldn't have the time. energy or money to handle any of that. Tish wasn't Tulip older than Kosha when you got her???? Maybe she will slow down a little. Course I did tear up a whole living room carpet cause Ed kept peeing on it when he was little but I sure didn't like it. Oh never mind truth is I love him so much I would have fixed any of his messes. ha ha ha Birdies to.

That's the thing Vi, love will make u accept the unacceptable. My old dog is now pooping up the whole house. Hubby swore if that ever happened, he would make the dog an outside dog. Well any time it happens he says it's his fault for not getting him out in time or makes up reasons. Its to the point now that the hubby praises him and tells him what a good poop he did lol. He just patiently cleans and washes it up with love. Thank god we have two carpet cleaners and it's not pee just poop. Wouldn't matter anyway, we just wash that up too. This dog can do no wrong in our eyes. Edited by Crazy Bird Lady, Nov 23 2011, 04:39 PM.

I agree as a teenager our family dog lost control of his bladder from age and it was continuous cleaning of pee, he tried to get to the back door but sometimes it happened in other parts of the house. We learned to live with it, we loved him and we knew it was not due to laziness. Robbie the last year made mistakes and usually in the kitchen by the door, it clearly upset him. I did not like coming home to pee or the times I stepped in it first thing in the morning but hey he was old and part of the family. It was brutal in the kitchen because our house is old and has a slight lean and is ceramic tile so the pee would hit the flow, find the groat and then run like a river. lol |

Maryann, hold off on the hog hunters unless she starts rooting up the house, LOL. Yes, she is having a ball. What's funny is when I go outside and call her, she's so excited that she comes running at full speed that she almost falls over on the pool deck because it can be a bit slippery. The pigeons are loving what Kosha is doing because she's rooting up stuff they can eat. When I open the door to let her out and they spot her, they fly down. It's really a hoot. Vi, it's not so bad really. She is only doing it in a couple of places and never does it in the garden. With pigs, as long as they have an area they can do their pig thing, they won't destroy other stuff. Tulip was just different -- she was such a mellow little pig. I got her when she was 3 months old which is younger than what Kosha is right now. Kosha plays till she drops while Tulip played in a more controlled manner so she did not drop in exhaustion. She's really good in the house -- not destructive except for throwing her bed around in temper tantrums. What I do is allow her to do her pig stuff but on my terms. No rooting up the garden -- that would earn an automatic spanking. Where she is rooting is the rocks around the date tree so while it's messy, it's fine. She also has a couple of other areas which I am willing to live with. No rooting up the front yard and she earns a very sharp "NO" when I've caught her doing it. If she doesn't listen, I've shoved her to make her stop. Cathy, I just giggled at the description of the pee hitting a flow and then running like a river. That was such a funny way of describing it. |

Thanks Maryann. No dinner for us this weekend as my daughter has to work and we decided not to cook all that just for ourselves. No family here..just us. Maybe Sunday when she is finally off we will eat at our fav place. In the mean time I'm left to my own devices today. I just may take my shower, fix this hair and take a short nap. I always say that and then can't sleep anyway. Wish I would stop waking up at 5:30 am. Just old working habit. |
