Tulip was a wonderful and calm little piggy. Even as a baby, Kosha's age, she was calm. She waited patiently for me to care for her and feed her. Yeah, as a pig, she was a bit pushy such as when I was in the kitchen, she would nudge my leg non stop to hurry up an feed her. That was about the extent of her pushiness. Not Kosha. That pig throws temper tantrums like a little 2 year old human kid. In the morning, she starts throwing her tantrum. She cries, knocks things around, flips her bed over, tosses it around. This morning I stood out of her line of sight and watched her go at it. She was running around crying, picking up her bed and tossing it, running around again, finding things to toss. I finally stepped into her line of sight and she stopped, came over to me with tail wagging and then took off top speed down the stairs to the kitchen. I guess I wasn't fast enough in preparing her breakfast. She ran around the house crying and squealing. I just ignored her and continued preparing her food. As soon as I was finished and opened up the back door to let her out, she ran ahead of me at top speed to where I feed her and waited for me to catch up. That's what she does -- throws tantrums. That is SOOOO DIFFERENT than Tulip was. Goes to show that animals do have distinct personalities even though they exhibit the same behavior that is part of their species. I guess this is something that is going to be part of Kosha's personality. I do not give in to her when she's in that mode but it doesn't look like it's going to stop. |

I love this little piggie so, I know it is easy for me to say since I do not have to handle the tantrums but it just makes her even more adorable. Maybe she will out grow them. |

Her temper trantrums are kind of funny except for when she wakes me up in the morning. |

Sorry ... but I just laughed out loud at this visual. Sounds like you have a "Little Princess" on your hands mom. he.he.he. I still think she needs some bows in her hair and a little skirt. Maybe that would make her happy.

Peckerheads are doing good. They certainly are a mated pair. Mr. Peckerhead is very defensive of Mrs. Peckerhead. No one is allowed near her, not even me. Cathy, I have no idea if she'll outgrow this. It is not a behavior that Tulip had. She was a very patient piggy, did not throw temper tantrums at all. I will say she has calmed down a bit -- she'll throw one and then when she gets no response, she'll go lie down for a while only to start up again later. At least she doesn't pull that temper tantrum in the car like she did when I first got her. That was INSANE, screaming at the top of her lungs in an enclosed car and trying to jump on my lap so that I had to pull over and put a stop to it. |

Maryann, I'm not as noise sensitive as you so while it can be annoying, it doesn't get to me too much. I can tune it out. When she first learned how to navigate the stairs, now, that was annoying as all get out. All day long, she kept running up and down the stairs while she was oinking. She would run up and down the stairs then take a break and then take it back up again. Boy am I glad she got over that novelty! Vi, funny you should say that because I thought about putting pink barrets in her hair. She's now at the point where she lets me to stuff to her. She'll bitch and moan if she doesn't like what I'm doing but she'll let me without fighting me. Which is good as I worked hard to get her to that point -- I had to before she got too big and stronger than me. Here's an excerpt from the pig board that I belong to about stubborn pigs. This lady has an older adopted pig that she needs to move and the pig is being aggressive. When I was involved in helping relocate pigs from bad situations, this is exactly what I did -- I put my hands on their side and shoved hard even to the point of knocking them over. Pigs are not agile, so as long as I stayed to their side and not in front of them, I could easily shove them over. They couldn't hurt me. That's how I am disciplining Kosha right now.
