Well Cathy, he is still alive today and eating but I have to treat him like he has a teeny ween crop as the inflammation is there and instead of trying to fill the crop and pushing mucous out into his mouth that could aspirate him, I feed him a teeny bit a literal mouthful every hour and he is pooping good, and I think it is less swollen than yesterday. I will not give him meds as last time I tried they died.

I will keep this up for as long as it takes for the swelling to go down so I can fill the crop. I have to have patience. I was surprised and relieved that he was alive this am, gave me hope that he may make it.

Im so glad I took the chanse and looked in the nest or he would have been dead for sure.

Photo surge of CUTENESS overload ahaha.
I made this disposable nest box out of a milk carton. I LOVE IT, and so does Kiki.
I had my neighbor now save them for me as Im gonna make a few. One for each budgie bub as a day bed and Kiki is already lovin hers.

I will replace Inchies nest with one as well as he gets his foot caught in the rattan, and makes me nervous.

Kiki has been in hers multiple times today and is in right now beside me as I type. She is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo frickin cute.

I put nest material in and then some squares of toilet paper as poop liners and remove them as she messes. I even hung a small feed cup on the outside and she can have a snack while in her little custom cottage lol. Get ready, the pics are so cute.

Ok, so the one with the red towel, Im out of the shower after water skiing and she is freaking to get to me, so this is where she landed and hopped all around the front of my towel lol. Then blue shirt out the side is her when she tucked into the front and found the exit out the armhole lol. What a nutcase. Now she is out of her day bed and on the back of my neck playing with the stray hairs out of my pony tail.

She also didnt mind sharing the bed on my neck with the new bub, Smurfs brother. Havent picked a name yet. He is even sweeter than smurf and bigger. He goes on these hunger strikes and will cry when he sees me. I take him and a bowl of egg food and seed and place them in my lap and he eats like a pig. I finally gave him some soaked seed and saw him in the cage eating on his own. What a suck. Gotta think of a name for him. He is sooooooooo gentle.

Wow, those photos are simply AWESOME!!! You've got the tamest birds.

Glad you caught that in time to save that bub. I like the idea that you're feeding tiny bits until the crop is no longer swollen.

Lol Tish, u have no idea. That crazy bub beeps to be with me 24/7. As I was loading pics and telling the hubby about them, she flew from me to him and back so many times. I got pics of her on the camera was trying to take s pic of her with, so I had to get my other camera to take them.
She was climbing all over the hubbies face and head and on his hand, he was loving it, till she peed on his forehead and he freaked, I was howling. He said he has never been peed on by a bird, it was hilarious. Funny just straight pee and no poop lol.

I also read in a recent bird hand feeding book I had bought, saying sometimes parrots r born with an anomoly, no crop, just an esophagus but no actual crop, and they can survive if fed only enough to make it buldge a bit. They have to be fed more often but grow up to be normal healthy birds. I guess u would have to know tho, as if sick and needing crop feeding by vet or self, u need to know the crop volume or u kill the bird. Anyway, I am treating this bird the same, as the crop holds alot of mucous/fluid with the inflammation, so if I feed too much, the mucous backs up in the mouth and the bird chokes and dies. Hard because the bird wants to feed and will swallow the canula into the crop and I have to pull it out to make sure it gets a little mouthful or two and that's it. I desperately want it to survive and grow up with it's sibling.

If all goes well, I will take pics of them tomorrow.

Wonderful pics Maryann. Loved them all. :) Smurf and his (yet to be named bro) are so pretty. I'll be

trying to think of some soft names. Soft names are kind of tough after you've gone thru the usual bunch.
