Kosha is now fully and completely leashed trained. Less than two weeks, she's trained. Amazing. I am really happy with her progress. The only thing left to do is teach her how to go down the stairs and peeing outside only. She has a little litter box that she is pretty good at using but I want her to only go outside. She doesn't poop inside at all. As for the peeing, she's still too young to really be able to control her bladder muscles. That's not going to happen until she's closer to 3 months or so. Right now I have to carry her down the stairs but that will eventually have to stop when she's too big. Right now she's contemplating taking the stairs on her own but she's just a little bit too scared to do it. She's a pro at going up the stairs. She actually runs up the stairs -- it's hysterical to watch. Last night, I was laying on the couch and had her laying on my stomach (I know, I didn't want her on the couch). Anyway, Ducky was sitting on my chest preening me. As long as I didn't show any attention to Kosha, he was fine with her being there. Kosha fell asleep on my stomach and Ducky and I played. I kept Davey off the couch when I had both Ducky and Kosha with me. My concern is not Davey or Kosha getting Ducky but Ducky biting one of them. He almost nailed Davey the other day. It's probably going to happen one of these days and they will learn to avoid him but I'm going to prevent it as long as I can. Before I got Ducky, he lived with 3 BIG dogs. They were all scared of him and avoided him. When he walked by, they moved out of the way. I'm seeing a lot of the same behavior in Kosha that Tulip possessed. It's, obviously, a pig thing. For instance, if Kosha is on the other side of the yard and I'm on the sidewalk calling her to go for a walk, she doesn't just cut across the yard. She has her route that she must take. She goes along the side, to the driveway and then down the driveway and then across to me. She doesn't take the shortest route. Tulip did that as well. She had a route that she took from point A to point B and it wasn't necessarily the shortest way. I did a bit of training without holding the leash. When I started walking, I didn't hold the leash. She followed me. If I stopped, I would stay "stop" and she stopped. When I started walking, she started walking. When I came to the corner to cross the street, I would say "stop" and she did. I then crossed the street and she crossed with me staying right behind me at my heels. I'm doing this in a very quiet residential area so I'm not worried about traffic. It's the development I live in so there's no extra traffic as pretty much only the residents drive in and out of the development (it's a gated community). I don't plan on walking her without a leash but I want to train her to obey me in the outdoors without a leash. A week from tomorrow, she's going in for her spay. I know I'm going to be so worried about her when she's under the knife. I've fallen in love with this bundle of piggy energy. I'll start another post on the other birds. Powder is such a tease -- she's tormenting Mr. Peckerhead. She's so small that she can fit between the bars of the Peckerhead's cage. She hangs just out of his reach. It annoys the dickens out of him so I have to go remove her. |

Yes, that is something I keep an eye out for as I'm walking her whether she's on a leash or not. I am always looking around. Since they are really strict in this development about dogs running around, you don't see them unless they're leashed (actually they are extremely strict in Las Vegas about unleashed animals). That doesn't mean that a dog won't be running around without a leash (remember the dog with Ducky on my shoulder scare?). However, the owner was right there. That being said, it's still something that I really look for as I walk her. If I happen to see a dog, I will immediately pick her up and hold her against me with my back to the dog. They are very animal friendly in this town as they have dog parks within every single park I have ever been to. At each park, they have stations where you can get baggies to pick up your animal's waste, etc. as you walk your animal. Even though they are very animal friendly in this town, they are really strict about containing your critters. They will ticket and if they see an animal without an owner, they will impound the animal and you have to pay a fine to get your animal back. They also work with rescue organizations so that when they do find an animal, it will be placed in a home as opposed to staying in the city shelter. This is one thing I like about this city. |

Cathy, Peanut was dumped at a pet store. The breeder just kind of dumped her there so they were giving Peanut away for free. I was worried that anyone would adopt her because she was free and becuase she's free, not take good care of her. So I took her.

Here's a photo I took earlier today after a walk. It's with my cell phone so it's not as good as the photos I took with my camera. I didn't have my camera with me, only my cell phone. I took this out in the front yard. I tried getting a shot of her while I was laying on the grass. She was not cooperating -- she saw me on the grass and wanted to stick her face in mine. She wanted to play, LOL. So I had to stand up to get this shot.![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us |

She is a cutie pie, love the star on her head. Her markings remind me of a calf. |
