for the very first time, one of my canaries is dying.... She's been sick since the later part of May.
I had put her in my flight cage along with the other canaries.
One of them was harrassing her constantly. the next morning she was puffed up and stressed out.
she's been in a hospital cage with a lamp, 2 different types of meds for almost 3 weeks, including Baytril she picks up, then she gets sick again.
I guess she's tired of being not well, tonight she's at the bottom of her cage, puffed up, she's weak. she can barely fly.
I got her in a trade and have had her only for 2 months or so. wish I knew what was wrong with her.
I hate to see them suffer. :'(

Beth that sucks, have u tried syringing sugar water or hand feeding formula. When canaries feel bad, they don't eat and if they don't eat, they will hemmorage and die. Without supportive care, birds will die, meds r not enough. What a pity.

If she is still alive by morning, bring here to me.

The pigeons are doing great -- even Mr. Skinny. I'm not hand feeding anymore as he's eating up a storm on his own and has tons of energy. I had my friend look at him today and he commented how much heftier he looks and how healthy. He's still too skinny to be released but he's well on the way to getting to that point of being released.

Mr. & Mrs. Peckerhead are doing fine. I'm still amazed at Mr. Peckerhead's recovery as to his eating.

Tish, that's great. Did u look at skinny,s keel to see if he is putting on meat? Would be nice to see a comparison, and sure is is good and strong enough to be handled for a pic :)

I'll get a photo. Oh, for sure he's strong enough to be handled. Of that I am confident. You should see him. Actually, physically he's really strong but skinny. And he's a fiesty little thing.
