Well, looks like my norwich hen is on two fertile eggs. I removed all the rest of the canaries out to leave the two tightest sittng with the male and cross my fingers.

I've always wondered -- how can you tell if the egg is fertile? Is it because it is murky instead of clear? Do you actually pick up the egg and see if you can see inside? I suppose the birds don't mind their eggs being handled.

Well I dare say not, looks like the eggs are no longer viable. There were too many little nicks in them, so I took apart all the nests and am giving the hens a rest :) Will see if the male starts harassing any of them to mate, if so, I will set up whatever hen he wants.

Well, it has been a struggle for sure for the last two years to try to get him to breed. I just should have let him go nuts 3 years ago when he was knocking up everything in site. What did I know then lol. If it happens it happens, if not, thats ok. No pressure on him lol.

He may be stubborn and one of those birds where it has to be HIS idea. If you leave him he will probably be in the mood
